Fabulous private guide in Busan Korea

We hired Brian through Viator to take us around Busan, South Korea. He picked us up in his car at the port where our ship docked, which was soo conviennent and 1000 times better than a bus tour. We went to Gamcheon village which is extremely worthwhile to see, some sky walks, and the sky capsule. Brian is extremely knowledgeable, very accommodating and fun to spend the day with. Upon my request he also took us to an Olive Young store so I could load up on Korean skin products that are fantastic and a fraction of the cost of USA brands. Brian helped us with anything we needed. Booking a private guide is so worthwhile in Busan, as you really have time for more activities. Don't hesitate to book this tour.

Unique perspective on the Korean War and DMZ

What a great experience! The opportunity to have a real, retired military officer as our guide gives such a unique experience to a DMZ visit. Our guide, Eddie, was outstanding. He had spent several years working at the DMZ and leading other military personnel to ensure tunnel and border security. With Eddie’s information and perspective, we really gained a better context for what we were seeing and gained a much more accurate understanding of the Korean War and the different boundaries setup before and after the war. He was able to help us understand the sadness and loss among the divided families and lost loved ones. Very informative day! Highly recommend this tour!

A good tour made great by Happy Sam

We left Seoul at 9am from Myeongdong and got back at around 18:30. We visited the DMZ Observatory, 3rd Infiltration Tunnel and other sights. It’s an interesting tour with a reasonably priced lunch (extra). Happy Sam was our tour guide and started the trip with energy and fun and a very informative discussion of the Korean War history, the formation of the DMZ and key facts. I think he elevated the tour with his fun and enthusiasm.

Cool day at the DMZ

I had an interesting and a good learning experience at the DMZ. There's so much history and important details about the Korean war. I learned so much here about how was life before, during and after the war. Also, there are nice view points of the DMZ, the North Korean territory and it's memorials. Juan ( Dong Hwang) was our tour guide and he was knowledgeable, patient, considerate, kind and very helpful. Juan answered all of our questions, guided us careful, and took nice pictures.

Fab Seoul Culture Tour

Joey was an excellent tour guide. She was well informed and explained lots about the history, culture, religion and current Korean thinking across our tour. We visited a temple, the palace, hired hanbok outfits (very slick and easy to hire and return next to the palace) and watched the changing of the guard, all of which was excellently scheduled so we could enjoy it all in good time. We had street food lunch at the main food market which was fun before the next leg of our trip. The Bukchong Hanok village was beautiful, though some uphill walking so wear comfy shoes. There is a wonderful perfume shop and various other small stores up there which are worth a look. Insadong was taken at a slower pace - and more chilled out zone of art galleries, craft shops, beautiful tea ware, glassware shops and places to buy amazing tea and other local specialties. It was great to have free time to wander and enjoy the area. We tried iced Omija tea (recommended by Joey) and some toasted rice stcks and red bean desserts. The Omija tea was amazing and so refreshing! Definitely recommend it. Joey also took great care of all the guests, taking photos of everyone in the group at key locations. A great day out.

DMZ as a mass tourism experience

Our tour was mostly well organized. Private tours are private in terms of getting to the DMZ and having a private guide. Our guide Won was very knowledgeable, telling us many interesting facts about North Korean life. He also drove very safely on the way to the DMZ. A few things may come as a surprise to visitors and should be kept in mind: The meeting with a North Korean defector was only 10 minutes and felt unduly rushed, since we were very much looking forward to it the brevity of this meeting was disappointing. At the same time there was lots of waiting time standing around in the cold outside early in the morning. Nobody will tell you to do so but it is implicitly expected that you invite your guide for lunch if you have lunch at the ticket hall second floor. During peak travel season expect pickup in Seoul to be arranged around 6am. The day we went was filled with dense fog and there were no views into North Korea.

Main Sights Cultural Tour with an Expert Guide

This tour of downtown Seoul was a positive experience, made even better by our guide, BK. His knowledge of the Korean dynasties and the history behind Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung palaces was impressive, and his organization kept the day running smoothly without ever feeling rushed. I particularly appreciated BK’s flexibility, as he was happy to adjust the agenda to respond to a marathon event causing road closures and otherwise to cater to interests. With hotel pickup and entrance fees all handled, it was an easy way to see the city’s major highlights. I would offer feedback that I didn't find the ginseng museum particurally interesting, but it was only a brief stop with no pressure to buy anything. Was a place to find a bathroom while others shopped in the store. I recommend this tour to anyone visiting Seoul to get some of the main points of interest checked off.
