Itinerary
After pickup from central Seoul, travel about one hour north to reach the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a 2.5-mile (4km) wide piece of land that divides North and South Korea.
Stop first in Imjingak, a park with war artifacts and artillery from the Korean conflict. Continue to the Freedom Bridge, where nearly 13,000 Korean POWs were exchanged at the end of the war.
Next up, see the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, believed to have been built by North Korea for a military invasion. Discovered in 1978, the tunnel was blocked by the South Koreans at the border’s military demarcation line. Afterward, check out artifacts and photographs from the Korean War at the DMZ Museum.
Continue by coach to the Dora Observatory, where you can use the provided binoculars to scope out North Korea. Observe a North Korean model village called Kijongdong as your guide explains the backstory of this surreal border region.
Wrap up your visit to the DMZ by passing the Unification Village, a small farming community that models the daily life of a typical South Korean farm community.
If you choose the half-day tour only, you are dropped off at City Hall in Seoul after a brief stop at a ginseng center en route. The full-day tour visits the DMZ in the morning and then makes a stop at the Majang Late Suspension Bridge or Gamaksan.

Enjoyed the tour, hit the highlights of the DMZ. Felicity was very knowledgeable. Tuesday was a busy day because it’s closed Monday, so crowds at most stops, but we stayed more or less on track. We did have to share a bus with a different language group that “didn’t have enough people for the 30 person minimum for a DMZ tour.” Our bus driver was a really cute Korean man who would greet us every time we got on, even got a high five at the last stop!

Eugene is a great guide and not a bad flutist. He was kind, helpful and very knowledgeable. The tour was fun and getting to ask questions to a defector was a true bonus. Not sure about how great the 3rd tunnel is though.

Eugene was a great tour guide. He had good knowledge on the places we visited. From the visit to the suspension bridge, to the museum with N Korean artefacts to the Q & A with a North Korean defector, to walking into and through the third tunnel and Dora Observatory, as well as the monuments at the park visited, this was a very historic intense and very informative tour. Learnt a lot about the wars that took place and what is proposed in the future. Souvenirs could be bought at the places, including a real North Korean Note. Would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to explore a place outside of Seoul. Notes for others going on the tour: No photos were allowed to be taken since the incident where N Koreans sent ballons with trash in 2024. Passports are needed for verification when entering the DMZ area, if not present on you, it can cause delays to the whole group. Lunch is not provided, but at one of the stops, there is a cafeteria and western restaurant. Could not get super close to DMZ boundary since incident of american solider crossing the line in 2023.
