Cardiff has spent decades starring as somewhere else entirely – its castle walls and coal-trade streets standing in for alien worlds and secret agencies. On this self-guided walking tour, you'll trace Doctor Who, Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures filming locations, alongside Cardiff's medieval and wartime history. Start at Cardiff Castle, a Norman keep remade in the 1800s into a Gothic Revival fantasy beloved by TV directors. Wind through the Canal Quarter, then step inside St John the Baptist Church, where a life-size Cyberman has become more than one visitor's favourite discovery. The tour ends at the Cambrian Tap, a pub with a role in the BBC's Sherlock. On this two-hour tour, you'll... - Hear the CGI and directing tricks behind Doctor Who's alien Cardiff. - Follow Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures through the same streets. - Learn how a small market town became a major coal-exporting port. Walk it whenever you land, at your own pace, for a fraction of a guided tour's price.
