Ice Cave
The experience is ONCE IN A LIFETIME.
From the off road raised jeeps taking us up to the cave to the actual cave experience and the views… absolutely INCREDIBLE. Highly recommend. We got the best pictures and videos. Memories for a lifetime. Shout out to Beda our tour guide. He loves what he does and was fantastic at teaching us the history of the caves and glacier. Very professional and personable.

Hella awesome!
If you’re visiting Iceland, I highly recommend doing the Katla Ice Cave tour. It’s a truly unique natural wonder and something you won’t forget.
The super jeep ride across the rugged landscape to reach the cave was an adventure in itself and really added to the experience. It was beautiful with all the snow.
Our guide was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the glacier and the area. They explained how the cave forms under the glacier and made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable throughout the tour.

Elías was a wonderful...
Elías was a wonderful guide and a very good driver. He had lots to say about the area and was very open to questions. He explained how they form the caves and what the area is like. The drive out to the glacier was very bumpy because of melting snow but was a lot of fun.

Awesome intro, guides very good
Intro to Ice Climbing, in this experience you get geared up and hike up the glacier tongue to an area to practise Ice climbing. The guides attach a screw into the top of ice wall and belay the rope to keep you secure. Individually you ascend with your crampons on then abseil down, Our experience was with 2 guides Monica and Lucas who were awesome and made it really enjoyable for me and my brother. The guides keep you safe and make it so much fun cos of their enthusiasm. A massive shout out to the tour bus driver from Arctic Adventures, (could not spell your name I remember it began with H), he made regular stops including at gas station to refuel and even pulls over on way back just outside reykjavik for our group to see the starting of the aurora. Such a special tour

Land of Fire and Ice
Lava show in Vik (guided by Luis) introduced us to volcano science and Katla geopark. It was a nice way to learn a little about the area and its relationship/history with the volcano. We were going to explore the Katla geopark/glacier the following day, so the show gave me more appreciation for the landscape, the history, and the residents. Plus it was nice to sit back, share a beer during the show and remove some layers due to the rising heat of the room. (And the soup next door is pretty tasty too).

Amazing
A mazing experience! The guide was excellent , very knowledgeable, explained everything clearly, showed us so much, and taught us a lot along the way. If someone didn’t have proper footwear, it was possible to rent it on the spot, which was very convenient. Everything was well organized and truly impressive. Highly recommended; this is something you should experience at least once in your lifetime.

Dec 10 2025 glacier hike
We very much enjoyed the tour. The small group setting worked really well, as it made the hike safer, easier to manage and kept communications effective. The guide was excellent. She assisted us with our gear, showed great concern for our safety, kept the pace suitable for all members young and old, and provided useful information about the glacier.

Just Wow!!!
This was hands down the best thing we did in Iceland! Our guide was so patient and kind. Having a small group was well worth the money to allow everyone ample time to climb. It was my family of four and father and daughter combo. My boys are 10 and 13 and ice climbed 40 ft.! I was so proud of them. The views were breathtaking and we had a perfect day of weather. Such an awesome experience!!!

The best experience - you have to book!
Gravel Travel are INCREDIBLE. We did the 9am tour today and we were very lucky - the only ones on the tour and the 1st snow of the season! There was nobody at the ice cave, and we got to spend so much time in there and take (too many) photos and videos…. The most amazing experience. As well, our guide was amazing. Lots of interesting facts on the way to the ice cave, stopping for some pictures on the way and super friendly! Thank you.

You won’t regret it
Loved this activity, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Remmy, our tour guide was the best. The route was beautiful and exciting. My husband wanted to go again right after. Having said that, I would definitely individual bikes, driving is not like riding behind .

Amazing trip with Carlos
Carlos was our tour guide, he was very nice to us, ensured everyone was safe and comfortable the entire time. Made sure people who get car sick were well taken care of! My boyfriend and I did not purchase the lunch boxes you can get on this tour and just had a PB&J sandwich Carlos ended up giving us the trail mix and rice cakes from his lunch so we had more food. We spent the lunch talking all about the rest of our trip and gave us amazing recommendations for the next couple days. Overall made our trip very enjoyable.

Peaceful way to experience the glacier and ice bergs up close
This was a very peaceful way to see the glacier and ice bergs up close and away from the crowds. I really enjoyed the overall experience and tranquility of it. Our guide Carla Paz was very friendly, informative and easy going - loved having her as our guide!

Vik may not have an exciting name—it just translates to “bay” in Icelandic—but this town on the southern tip of Iceland is anything but boring. Sign a waiver, and within minutes, Vik tours will have you riding in a buggy along the black sand beach of Reynisfjara, exploring an ice cave under Katla Volcano, or snowmobiling above it on Mýrdalsjökull, the country’s fourth-largest glacier. Ziplining, paragliding, and kayaking (in a glacial lagoon) are all options if you go with a guide.
