Incredible!!! This was my favorite thing we did in Iceland. Our guide, David, with gravel travel was so knowledgeable and shared stories, history, geology, and more with us. We were able to engage and chat while riding out over beautiful snowy terrain looking ahead at volcanoes and the glacier we’d be visiting. I highly recommend a stay in Vik to see the scenery on the southern coast and to do this tour. Being inside the cave itself was surreal. The vehicle felt safe and comfortable and we even drove back across the beautiful black sand beach. Highly recommend!!

Ice cave in general is good for a short trip and for some nice photos. The travel from a monster bus in itself is a fun and on top the live commentary by our tour guide was amazing. Outside the cave itself you will find in midst of black sands (more like gravels), with all over blackened background including mountains with some snow on top.

The Ice Cave was SO small and took about 10 minutes to explore. It took nearly 45 minutes to drive up to the cave, few minutes walk to the cave, then back again! Waste of money. If you want to see the Ice Caves (as I did) you need to go further North and explore them properly

There were some Italian and Spanish tourists on the trip that were rude and obnoxious. Please feel free to tell them to shut up in the future.

You will not see anything like this anywhere else. Not for claustrophobic folks. Not difficult, but not an easy tour for older folks. Outstanding guide - super professional, knowledgeable, helpful.

Loved the super jeep! The ride itself was quite the experience! Caves were only a short walk up a small hill. Easy with the ice spikes. It was cloudy and end of the day so we didn’t get any colors but it was phenomenal nonetheless!

Had a great time! Our guide was funny and had great info to share. He took the time to chat, not just roll off some facts from Google. Dont expect an ice cave that's 500m deep... remember, enhanced social pics foks post can make something look very different than reality. But if you want to see nature in its truest form, and can appreciate the wonder of how this is made and changes, you'll enjoy this up close look at Katla. Learning about its formation and how caves move and close/open each year is really interesting. Off roading to get there and walking on massive ice formations was fun too. Great way to see "raw" Iceland without a tour buses of people surrounding you.

Gravel Travel are INCREDIBLE. We did the 9am tour today and we were very lucky - the only ones on the tour and the 1st snow of the season! There was nobody at the ice cave, and we got to spend so much time in there and take (too many) photos and videos…. The most amazing experience. As well, our guide was amazing. Lots of interesting facts on the way to the ice cave, stopping for some pictures on the way and super friendly! Thank you.

We had a great time! Our guide was funny and grew up hiking on the glaciers. The hiking part was moderate, so you need to be able to climb a small incline for at least 10 minutes (it’s not bad). The cave itself is very small but we got cool pics. Also, it is not the big blue cave you see in some pictures. That is elsewhere.

Katla Ice Cave (3/28/25) was a truly memorable experience! We were only a small group of four, and our guide made us feel so comfortable and welcome. His expertise, and knowledge were cheerfully appreciated and we really enjoyed his comical nature. He taught us about the birth of the cave, what the layers of ice meant and we even enjoyed a 'lil toast with 800 year old ice cubes freshly chopped off the inside of the cave! We had a great time exploring this fascinating cave and its glorious surroundings! Thank you for making our trip outstanding!

The host anf jeep ride was great . The skeleton pile of ash of a once beautiful glacier is gone . The cave is a small hole now only meters long . It was a good learning experience and slap of reality of global warming and the significant impact it has had on Iceland. It should be renamed to set expectations of the clientele. I am lucky to have seen the glacier at all before it too will have a memorial plaque.

It was an incredibly enjoyable trip. Our guide was incredibly funny and had a knack for keeping us in a good mood throughout the journey. He also shared a wealth of information about Iceland, including its history and the awe-inspiring ice caves and glaciers.
Additionally, he has a charming little friend named Frosti, a cute polar fox. Overall, I highly recommend this tour. You’ll not only be treated to an impressive view of the glacier but also have a blast and, of course, meet Frosti! :)

While our guide was great and the company was as well, the tour jeep arrived about 45 minutes late and we were convinced it had left without us (since we arrived only 5 minutes before departure time). Unbeknownst to us it was running late and we stumbled upon it only because we went down to the black sand beaches for 30 minutes and the. Walked up to get a bite exactly as they arrived. That didn’t stop us from sending multiple voicemails and emails about an expensive tour we were sure we missed. We even booked another tour with a competitor for later that day in a rush since we drove all the way to Vik. Which we were not able to get a refund from. So, while it was a once in a lifetime experience, it was not cheap (booked two tours) or without stress!

This was a great tour by our guide Daniel, who provided great information as we drove to the ice cave and played excellent music. The weather was rainy and overcast but the experience was fun, informative, and we still got to go inside the ice cave, overall an awesome tour.
