Such an amazing experience. Our tour guide was friendly and explained everything we needed to know about the glacier. He even was kind enough to take pictures for us! Safety is paramount to this company which is very much appreciated. Absolutely would recommend this tour!

A little more strenuous than was in the description but still a doable tour for most. My parents are 75 and 78 and they made it no problem thanks to the well maintained paths and rope railing which they maintain daily. The glacier and cave was beautiful…it seemed like another planet out there. Our tour guide, Alex, was great. He was helpful to those that needed a helping hand and he was funny too. He also told us about Iceland history and all about the volcano and glacier. Thanks Alex! I would highly recommend the tour. FYI, it is a 3-4 tour from start to finish and no bathrooms along the way. Thanks from Jenny from Las Vegas.

Such a great experience for our family of 4. We brought our 9 and 7 year olds and they loved it! It is warmer than I would have thought so you don’t need a bunch of layers. If you get car sick easy sit up front- the ride is bumpy!

Great Tour

Melissa_R, Apr 2026
Tour guide was great. Ice caves were amazing! We did have to wait 30 mins past our scheduled time because the trip before us was delayed but was worth the wait.

not the review i want to write

Margaret_S, Mar 2026
had this experience gone as planned, 1h drive in, 1h at cave, and 1h out- i’d totally recommend this to anyone who has time and money to do it. the cave tunnel is super cool and enjoyable. however, we went 3/29 and the weather was rough. just enough rain to make the snow crumble into water as we drive through, causing us to get stuck. a lot. one point even having to evacuate the car to make it lighter to be pulled out. and at another point the tire coming off the wheel. 2 men trying to fix it in the wind and snow for over an hour. we were “en route” if you will for just departing the cave for 4h45 minutes. the driver admitted they were short a few drivers and there were no extra men or vans to even send an empty van to get us. so we had to wait for the problem to be fixed and be towed out of several spots. if the snow was this difficult to drive in i wish they cancelled our group instead of ruining the rest of our plans. or cancelled the group after us so we could have an empty van to be taken back in, one that was tolerating conditions better. we watched as other tours came and went because we were stuck longer than their tour! that was frustrating. a 3 hour day turned into an 8h day and a lot of us had to rearrange several plans and arrangements. they were working so hard to do what they could to get us back safely, and the drivers are all super awesome and knowledgeable. definitely not their first rodeo. i could tell even they were frustrated with the lack of progress and resources. check the weather. don’t be afraid to ask about conditions. and if it’s raining or going to rain, highly recommend planning around a time that won’t be during or follow it because the conditions are way too wet.

Ice cave tour was fantastic

The trip was wonderful. I was expecting a small ice cave and it was a long tunnel through the ice which was fantastic. Our guide Sebastian was really great.

Elías was a wonderful guide and a very good driver. He had lots to say about the area and was very open to questions. He explained how they form the caves and what the area is like. The drive out to the glacier was very bumpy because of melting snow but was a lot of fun.

Super cool!

Our guides were great. The ride to the caves was cool. The caves were really amazing. Only wish it could have been longer.

Awesome experience!

Pickup point is actually BEHIND the building. Should be mentioned since Google maps only gets you to the front lot. Once you're in the ride takes about 30 min to get to the first stop so you can take some breathtaking photos for about 10-15 min. Then you get to the base of the glacier and gear up and you're off to the caves. There is a short hike up the glacier and then you go through a couple caves with beautiful views.

Excellent experience and knowledgeable guide. He was funny and made the shuttle to the glacier memorable. The winter views of the cave are breathtaking and definitely worth it.

Would recommend, no questions

This is such a fun and unique experience! The scenery is unbelievable and when else are you going to visit a natural ice cave and drink fresh glacial water? Leiver was the best tour guide...10/10. His expertise with off roading on the way to the glacier and with exploring the ice cave is unparalleled. He knows it like the back of his hand. He wanted us to have the best experience and we did.

Great trip from ? Arctic Adventures, guide was exceptional .....the ride out to the glacier was pretty bumpy (no surprise)..

Amazing! Beware the hike!

mestith, Oct 2025
It was a fun time! The super jeep was bumpy but kind of a blast. I did not expect the difficulty and precariousness of the hike to the ice cave. The cave itself is small but it was still really cool. Our guide was amazing!

Highly recommend Alex!

Kelsey_S, Oct 2025
We loved our tour of the Katla ice cave! The cave was a little smaller than expected but reasonable in October. Our kids loved hiking up to the cave and across the glacier. Alex was absolutely phenomenal and so great with our kids; we all absolutely adored him. He was a wealth of knowledge and had so many interesting things to share about Iceland and Katla. We felt so lucky and grateful to have him as our guide! Would definitely recommend.

I got to walk on a glacier and go in an ice cave!

Phillip_S, Oct 2025
Our guide was great, but the ride out there is alot rougher than I expected it to be. I thoroughly enjoyed the ice cave, but my husband and our friends were hoping it would be larger. Maybe because we went in September and it was warm that the pictures are not as spectacular as the photos on the ad. I would recommend it in the winter, spring, or early summer. However, I got to touch a glacier :-)

Highlight, good with kids

Highlight of our trip. The pickup and drop off were smooth. We had a 13yo, 10yo, and 6yo with us and it felt safe and well-done.

Sylvester our guide was awesome even took us on a little side trip where they shot some game of thrones scenes. He even pulled over so we could all get out and look at an arctic fox he saw.

I had high hope for this ice cave tour........

AW_W, Oct 2025
We took the tour on October 2nd. For the price, and prior participant reviews, I had high hope for this tour... 1. the 'super-jeep' (a height-retro fitted 12-person van) was OLD ; bench seats cushion were worn; sitting on the side of the last row, I sat 'slanted'. 2. our tour guide was a very nice young guy. However, he was either very new to the job, or he was just not a person of words. Many online reviewers mention they learned a lot about glaciers. We hardly had 4-5 'mentions' about area we drove by or about glaciers. 3. Took about 30 mins drive to the location, another 20-30 min walking/hiking up to the 'cave'. Our guide took photos for all of us inside the very small ice cave which we lingered for 15-20 minutes. 4. I asked 2 questions; hoping the guide/driver would elaborate but received short answers. 5. On our way back, the van made clinking sound, so the driver/guide stopped to investigate. He decided to wait for the other van's driver/guide (who was a very talkative and seemed more experience) Our van was okay (after whatever the other guide did) and we drove back. Sign up for early tour. Saw 2-3 tours came in as we were leaving. Didn't feel it's worth the money. I found out later that same day when we went to Sólheimajökull Glacier that I could've spent about the same amount for a 3-4 hour glacier walk on Sólheimajökull.

Great experience go into ice cave

Great tour guide and experience

Susan_N, Sep 2025
We had a great time going to the ice cave. Our tour guide was great told us some Icelandic folklore which I really enjoyed. The ice cave was smaller than I had imagined but was a great experience.

Must do Glacier Ice

Parishram_P, Sep 2025
Best Glacier Ice Cave experience in Iceland Had awesome driver and guide to the cave from Vik. Breath taking views on the drive to the cave and then during hike to the ice cave

Peter was a great guide!...

Michael_S, Sep 2025
Peter was a great guide! He was personable and did a great job telling us about the glacier and surrounding area

Beautiful landscape but dangerous with no consideration of the weather

Adrien_R, Sep 2025
At first I planned to put 4 stars but after exchanging with several peoples and a guide (volcano tour) i changed my mind as I think we were going in something dangerous. Let's say first the positive, the landscape, with the bad weather we had, it was really beautiful and dramatic, typically what you could found in movies like interstellar, you feel like on an other planet. With the rain the ice was clear and white, that contrasted with the black ashes, it's really photographic. The guide was nice, but compared to other tour we had we didn't had much information on what we saw, the Katla volcano, how the cave are formed etc. He was more a driver, guiding us to the cave (with the minimum safety rules) and took photos of us, so it's probably more oriented for people who want to make selfie and photo rather than people who are interested to know more about the place etc. My main concern is regarding safety, as it was already raining a lot this day, with strong wind and the forecast announced more than 7mm of rain per hour (I know that weather in Iceland can be unpredictable but that's really bad weather) I contacted the agency but they said till the operation team don't cancel it's fine. I learned afterward that previously an accident occurred with death as a column crushed on peoples and that the government was thinking about closing or regulating access to ice cave during summertime. More to that, strong rain can participate to melt and destabilise the ice and the bridge. I saw some guys hammering the bridge behind us as it started to move. That's why I can't really recommend this tour. If you do, check the weather forecast and in case of bad weather, cancel before the 24h period as they will not do it for you.

Terrible Transportation

BettyAnn_D, Aug 2025
We booked a "SuperJeep" tour with Arctic Adventures which provided detailed instructions regarding where to meet. We could not find a tour representative at the meeting location. I got a call from South Coast Adventure who said they are the subcontractor and would be taking us on the tour. We found their 15 passenger van in the parking lot - it was NOT a Jeep or similar vehicle. The van interior was in bad shape - the ceiling lining was shredded, the back doors didn't close properly and the rain was literally pouring into the van onto the seat and onto us. Seatbelts did not work, but since we had to sit forward to get out of the rain pouring onto us we couldn't have used them anyway. The driver/guide's response when we told him about the drenched seat and passengers -- he had problems closing the door, that he was just the driver and not the mechanic. The drive off road is, as expected, very rough and bumpy which was even more challenging because we could not sit back in our seats.

It was beautiful, and the scenery was amazing. Even the ice cave was good a a little smaller than I expected, but everything was wonderful. I would fully recommend this trip.

Went beyond

Josie_G, Aug 2025
My husband got injured but not their fault. Peter, our guide was most caring and gentle. Even assisted him to walk. Further offered to drive us to the clinic. Shout out to Paul from New Jersey, USA who was also kind to us.

Good once we found our guide!

Tracy_M, Aug 2025
The tour itself was very nice. I gave it 4 stars because finding the tour company when we reached Vik was VERY confusing. We asked multiple people and everyone told us somewhere different!!!
