The Katla Ice Cave Tour was an unforgettable experience! The natural beauty of the cave was absolutely breathtaking, and our guide made the journey even more special. They were engaging, incredibly knowledgeable, and shared fascinating insights about the glacier, the cave’s formation, and the surrounding landscape.
The tour was well-organized and full of awe-inspiring moments. However, the only slight downside was that the time inside the cave felt a bit rushed. With such a unique and mesmerizing environment, I would have loved just a little more time to take it all in and explore at a more relaxed pace.
That said, the overall experience was fantastic, and I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland. It’s a must-do for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike!

Super fun tour, within a nice 2-3hr window so not too long. We booked through Arctic Adventures. Fun drive in the jeep to the glacier - expect it to be bumpy :) ice caves were very cool - what you will see will depend on time of year and how much the glacier has melted etc.
We went in August-from what the guide was saying perhaps it is better a month before. But still loved it!

Great adventure overall. The glacier is a 40min drive via Super Jeep and then the ice cave is another 15min walk up the glacier. The actual ice cave size and location will vary on the specific day of course. Our guide, Helke, was really fun and gave us a lot of information about the glacier. Be prepared for tough conditions though. Definitely wear waterproof pants, jacket, boots and gloves and carry extra clothes for when you return!

Exceeded Expectations! Wonderful, knowledgeable guide with safety awareness. Only issue was finding the meeting point as the address on the ticket was for KaltaTrack and we ended up just behind Ice wear in Vik.

Sylvester was our amazing guide.
We immediately realized he loves what he does.
The explanation about the cave formation, the glaciers was knowledgeable.

Absolutely incredible tour. Our tour guide was friendly and took his time with the trip. We never felt rushed. He even had a raven that followed us along the glacier. If you come to Iceland, this tour is a must.
Rodrigo_N, Jun 2026
It is not a cave, but a couple of different tunnels. The driver drove like a maniac. Me and my child had fun with the thrilling ride, but my honest opinion is that it was not appropriate.

The Katla Ice Cave tour was one of the most magical experiences of my entire Iceland trip.
The landscape itself was incredible—standing inside a natural ice cave, it felt like stepping into another world. Every turn revealed something new, from the textures and colors of the ice to the dramatic glacier scenery surrounding us.
What made the experience truly unforgettable, however, was our guide, Helgi. He was knowledgeable, funny, engaging, and clearly passionate about Iceland's glaciers and natural history. He had a wonderful way of making everyone feel comfortable while also sharing fascinating information throughout the tour.
One of my favorite memories was when he helped us create glacier rainbows in the ice. It was such a simple but beautiful moment that perfectly captured the wonder of the experience. Those little moments are what transform a great tour into an unforgettable one.
Helgi's enthusiasm, sense of humor, and genuine love for what he does made the tour even more special. By the end, it felt less like following a guide and more like exploring with someone who was excited to share one of Iceland's greatest treasures. And I definitely recommend you try the water.
Thank you for an amazing adventure. Of all the incredible things I experienced in Iceland, the Katla Ice Cave remains one of the memories I find myself smiling about most.

This was an amazing experience. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. It is a bit of a trek up to the entrance of the ice cave but the guide paused in a few spots to let people catch their breath and to ensure everyone stayed together. It is not a trip for people with mobility issues or small children.

It was a very good experience, well organized and on time, the only reason it is not a 5 star is that the weather did not cooperate and there was a cold wind and light rain that retracted from the overall experience

After a bumpy road we meet a stunning black nature and a amazing walk thru the blue cave. Ingmar was a great guide, told stories whats happen in early days and let us enjoy the surrounding. Go for it!

Absolutely incredible! Peter from South Coast Adventures was amazing - informative and personable. Small group was great and we chose the 8:30 so no other tours were there and it leaves time for other activities in the day. Highly recommend!

Perfect family day. Our boys had a great time exploring on the glacier and the ice cave was beautiful. Dress warm and have waterproof shoes!

The driver/tour guide was very experienced driver! Service was very good, scenery is breathtaking and road was extremely rough! The cave was beautiful! Worth going there!

Such a great experience for our family of 4. We brought our 9 and 7 year olds and they loved it! It is warmer than I would have thought so you don’t need a bunch of layers. If you get car sick easy sit up front- the ride is bumpy!

Tour guide was great. Ice caves were amazing! We did have to wait 30 mins past our scheduled time because the trip before us was delayed but was worth the wait.

had this experience gone as planned, 1h drive in, 1h at cave, and 1h out- i’d totally recommend this to anyone who has time and money to do it. the cave tunnel is super cool and enjoyable.
however, we went 3/29 and the weather was rough. just enough rain to make the snow crumble into water as we drive through, causing us to get stuck. a lot. one point even having to evacuate the car to make it lighter to be pulled out. and at another point the tire coming off the wheel. 2 men trying to fix it in the wind and snow for over an hour. we were “en route” if you will for just departing the cave for 4h45 minutes. the driver admitted they were short a few drivers and there were no extra men or vans to even send an empty van to get us. so we had to wait for the problem to be fixed and be towed out of several spots.
if the snow was this difficult to drive in i wish they cancelled our group instead of ruining the rest of our plans. or cancelled the group after us so we could have an empty van to be taken back in, one that was tolerating conditions better. we watched as other tours came and went because we were stuck longer than their tour! that was frustrating.
a 3 hour day turned into an 8h day and a lot of us had to rearrange several plans and arrangements.
they were working so hard to do what they could to get us back safely, and the drivers are all super awesome and knowledgeable. definitely not their first rodeo. i could tell even they were frustrated with the lack of progress and resources.
check the weather. don’t be afraid to ask about conditions. and if it’s raining or going to rain, highly recommend planning around a time that won’t be during or follow it because the conditions are way too wet.

The trip was wonderful. I was expecting a small ice cave and it was a long tunnel through the ice which was fantastic. Our guide Sebastian was really great.
mnzakrewski, Mar 2026
Such an amazing experience. Our tour guide was friendly and explained everything we needed to know about the glacier. He even was kind enough to take pictures for us! Safety is paramount to this company which is very much appreciated. Absolutely would recommend this tour!

Awesome guide Sylvester. Patient, kind, and knowledgeable. Great weather and fun ride getting there to the ice cave
Rebecca_T, Mar 2026
Elías was a wonderful guide and a very good driver. He had lots to say about the area and was very open to questions. He explained how they form the caves and what the area is like. The drive out to the glacier was very bumpy because of melting snow but was a lot of fun.
Christine_M, Feb 2026
Our guides were great. The ride to the caves was cool. The caves were really amazing. Only wish it could have been longer.
Chuck_C, Jan 2026
Pickup point is actually BEHIND the building. Should be mentioned since Google maps only gets you to the front lot. Once you're in the ride takes about 30 min to get to the first stop so you can take some breathtaking photos for about 10-15 min. Then you get to the base of the glacier and gear up and you're off to the caves. There is a short hike up the glacier and then you go through a couple caves with beautiful views.
Daniel_B, Nov 2025
Excellent experience and knowledgeable guide. He was funny and made the shuttle to the glacier memorable. The winter views of the cave are breathtaking and definitely worth it.
Susan_K, Nov 2025
This is such a fun and unique experience! The scenery is unbelievable and when else are you going to visit a natural ice cave and drink fresh glacial water? Leiver was the best tour guide...10/10. His expertise with off roading on the way to the glacier and with exploring the ice cave is unparalleled. He knows it like the back of his hand. He wanted us to have the best experience and we did.
jim_m, Nov 2025
Great trip from ? Arctic Adventures, guide was exceptional .....the ride out to the glacier was pretty bumpy (no surprise)..
mestith, Oct 2025
It was a fun time! The super jeep was bumpy but kind of a blast. I did not expect the difficulty and precariousness of the hike to the ice cave. The cave itself is small but it was still really cool. Our guide was amazing!
Kelsey_S, Oct 2025
We loved our tour of the Katla ice cave! The cave was a little smaller than expected but reasonable in October. Our kids loved hiking up to the cave and across the glacier.
Alex was absolutely phenomenal and so great with our kids; we all absolutely adored him. He was a wealth of knowledge and had so many interesting things to share about Iceland and Katla. We felt so lucky and grateful to have him as our guide! Would definitely recommend.
