Awesome Day

An unbelievable day. One hour four wheeling over rivers and gullies through a valley surrounded by volcanoes and glaciers and walked around five miles and climbed 900 feet. We are an active couple in early 60s and the oldest in the group but were able to keep up. Some rock scrambling

For all hiking lovers, away from the crowded, touristy spots!

Hiking in Þórsmörk with Sven was absolutely amazing! He’s super friendly, authentic, and feels like a true Viking guide. The landscapes were breathtaking, almost like walking through an elven movie. We went as a couple and it was such a fun, unforgettable adventure. Highly recommended for anyone who loves hiking away from the crowded, touristy spots!

It’s a great experience, especially if you don’t have a high clearance, 4 x 4 and snorkel

It’s pretty much as the description says. You take a super jeep into an area that you can’t access with any normal vehicle, including most 4 x 4’s and depending on the weather and circumstances of the area you do a hike. As always, I think it’s important to remember that you’re only going to be as ambitious as the least mobile person in your group. My wife and I, as an example, would have covered much more ground and chosen much more ambitious to rain, but we needed to ensure everybody in the group was comfortable so we chose something a little bit milder. That being said it was access to an area that very few people have ever seen or hiked, the guides were professional, and we always felt safe and completely enthralled by our surroundings.

Guide is highly knowledgeable in the area. We did not do the “hike” described in the listing due to some muddy conditions the guy didn’t feel safe. We ended up stopping at several smaller areas where he shared his wealth of knowledge with us while we took in the beauty. We then went through the rivers to the “hike” to look over the Thorsmork valley and this was amazing views. Only thing I would hope for is more hiking in future. We chose the “hiking” tour not the super Jeep tours so only doing about 3 miles of hiking felt short for what we had hoped for.
