Due to weather I was transferred to Segovia. Trip started at 7 am I had hotel pick up at 5 am. Everybody was friendly including our pilot Emmanuel. Trip was safe. It was more fun because there were 10 other balloons up that day. About an hour in the air and group helped pack up the ballon. Very light lunch, champagne toast and diploma included. Everything was perfect and fun. Only observation is that there was much food for lunch — a slice of toast and a slice of ham.

Magical Experience

The weather was not cooperating but the tour company was excellent with communication and was able to reschedule me in a different but agreeable location on a different day. The experience was absolutely magical. The pilot made sure to spin the balloon so that everyone got to see all the important sites. He made sure we got a unique view of the land and the clouds. The landing zone was an absolute picturesque site for the included brunch.

Tight quarters on the balloon and distant view of Toledo

This was a unique experience. However, my expectation was a bit different than what was delivered. First off, they crammed 5 adults into each small corner. I hardly had room for my feet, and one girl had to sit on her husbands lap for landing! I truly expected the ride to go over the beautiful town of Toledo. My mistake. It was in the distance and mostly a country side view. It would have been nice to have had the balloon more ready upon arrival, rather than to wait for the 30 minutes+ set up time and the same at the end. At least for the cost! Maybe if I wasn’t so cold…it would have been more pleasant. I still loved the experience…a first for my son and I, but for the cost-it could be improved.

Dear Kathy, Every balloon flight is subject to the wind direction which mandates the trajectory of the flight. You had a nice view of Toledo at the start but the wind took you at the opposite direction, and this would happen on any balloon flight, anywhere in the world. We cannot do anything about the cold temperatures first time in the morning, but we advised you to wear warm clothes to be comfortable. Again, we cannot do anything to improve that. The space in the balloon basket is legally certified by the European Agency for Safety Aviation, and each compartment is for a safe flight for a maximum of 5 people. We tell the passengers to arrive 30 minutes before the actual balloon launch to have some margin for late arrivals and also because the inflation process is very interesting for most of our clients. Teniendo respeto a las alturas, también puedo decir que el vuelo es muy tranquilo, suave y que permite observar bien todo desde las alturas, una perspectiva muy distinta. La experiencia duró 40 min en vez de una hora. En mi opinión no calcularon bien el peso, creo que íbamos más personas que la capacidad de la cesta. Caímos en medio de un trigal y los propios pasajeros tuvieron que ayudar para recoger el globo. Tendrían que meter menos gente, alargar el tiempo de vuelo y explicar algo aunque sea del paisaje. Lo venden como que vas a sobrevolar Toledo y nosotros lo vimos de lejos ya que nos fuimos para el campo, que son campos de cultivo sin más. Las condiciones del tiempo eran buenas, no sé por qué caímos, tampoco dieron muchas explicaciones. Sé de viajes en globo en otros sitios de España y la duración del vuelo eran dos horas, con ocho personas máximo, con explicación durante el vuelo y por el mismo precio.

Gracias por compartir sus impresiones del vuelo en globo con nosotros, pero queríamos puntualizar algunos de los puntos que indican que pueden ser debidos a su desconocimiento de este medio. La duración de su vuelo fue 53 minutos, no 40 como indican en su mensaje. Ninguna empresa en España ofrece vuelos de 2 horas de duración porque los globos aerostáticos tienen una autonomía limitada, y lo habitual son vuelos de 1 hora. Los globos no se pueden dirigir y la velocidad y trayectoria vienen determinados por el viento. Por lo tanto, nunca se puede garantizar que se sobrevuele un punto concreto aunque en su caso despegaron frente al casco histórico de Toledo y disfrutaron de estas vistas al principio del vuelo. Tampoco es cierto que el globo fuese sobrecargado; estas aeronaves están certificadas para una capacidad de pasajeros y un peso determinado, y es por esta razón por la que les solicitamos sus pesos individuales, en ningún caso se excede. Esta es una actividad participativa en la que invitamos a los pasajeros a que colaboren en la recogida del globo, siempre de forma voluntaria, y es una parte de la actividad que se desarrolla en un ambiente divertido y relajado que la mayoría de gente disfruta realizando.
