Fun day in the waterfalls
Great experience. Much cheaper than the same excursion through the cruise ship. Easy to locate the driver at the very end of the port shops (15 min walk to this taxi area from ship). Driver was very friendly. We were a family of 4 and had another family of 4 riding with us. Comfortable passenger van with good AC. Drive is about 35-40 minutes. Once there you keep everything in the van. We had a backpack with towels/change of clothes/money, etc. that we kept in the van till the end. The driver will give you a bottle of water which will be needed. The only thing you need is good water shoes. They rent them there for $3 a pair if needed. I would also recommend a waterproof holder with neck strap for cell phone to take pictures. They give you option for $55 to take pictures of your group while there. They give you a life vest and helmet. The initial hike is about 45 minutes--all up hill. They take short breaks along the way but it is a tough little hike and you'll be sweating along the way. This is where the bottle of water is helpful. Once at the top you start to swim/slide/jump down the waterfalls (you may need a little courage at times). Once you get to the last one it is about a 20 minute walk back to base came (all flat this time). We changed and then were driven back towards the ship where we stopped at a restaurant along the way. Small, buffet style, typical Dominican lunch which we all enjoyed. Then back to the boat. I did tip our waterfall guide $20 and our driver a $20. The total trip took about 4 hours.

Family friendly fun and adventure
I would highly recommend this excursion!! Our tour guide Daniella, driver Marteen, and paparazzi/photographer Chocolata were the best!! They were friendly, knowledgeable and professional!! We booked this excursion with another family and we're the only ones in our tour group! Chocolata took great pictures of us the whole experience! While on the hike up to the zip lines he informed us all about the types of trees, land around the area and all about the Dominican culture. He was so funny cracking jokes along the way! He fully immersed himself in the experience with us while ziplining and sliding down the rocky waterfalls. He stopped us along the way to capture these priceless memories with photos of the families and friends. After the ziplining and waterfalls, we took a tour though the countryside to visit a real plantation where they shared more of their culture, coffee, rum, chocolate, cigars with samples! We would highly recommend tbis tour! Family friendly and for all ages!

Francisco was great - ...
Francisco was great - friendly, thoughtful, knowledgable and accommodating. This was one of the highlights of our trip. We all (5) appreciated his humor and gentle "beep beeps" to pedestrians. Highly recommend. He also took the time for follow up with us on restaurant recommendations which was greatly appreciated.

As the Dominican Republic’s oldest city, you might think Puerto Plata excursions all revolve around history—but that couldn’t be further from the truth. While plenty of options delve into the past at the 16th-century fortress, many showcase the lush natural landscapes of the island. Tackle rugged terrain on an ATV adventure, go horseback riding on trails leading to waterfalls, feel your adrenaline levels soar during ziplines, and then cool off during snorkeling trips and sunset catamaran cruises.
