Hello, I’m Hugo, and I’d love to share my passion for the Vinho Verde region with you. Terras de Basto is a hidden gem, rich in history and tradition, with roots that trace back to prehistoric settlements. Its people have long been known for their strong character, resilience, and deep connection to the land.
This region is the perfect place to understand the origins of Vinho Verde wine. Although it has gained international recognition over the last few decades, Vinho Verde reflects centuries of local knowledge, craftsmanship, and inspiration.
Having grown up exploring this territory, I’ve built close relationships with local, family-run producers over the years. This private experience is designed as a memorable journey from Porto to Terras de Basto — a largely untouched, beautifully natural region that remains off the beaten path.
Along the way, we’ll stop for a coffee break in the historic town of Amarante, known for its authentic atmosphere and charming riverside setting. We’ll then visit two family-owned wine estates with traditional cellars, where guests are welcomed like friends. Here, you’ll taste grape varieties found only in this region, such as Azal and Padeiro, and discover that Vinho Verde can even be red, like the distinctive Vinhão.
A true surprise for many visitors.
After the first wine tasting, enjoy a delicious traditional lunch in a carefully preserved rural setting. The meal is prepared with local ingredients and paired with unfiltered, homemade Vinho Verde — a truly unique and authentic experience.
Throughout the day, the tastings and visits are complemented by stunning views of Monte Farinha and Senhora da Graça rising above the landscape. After an engaging and relaxing day immersed in local culture and flavors, we’ll make a smooth return journey to Porto.
Of all the experiences I offer, this is the one I most enjoy sharing. Guests consistently describe it as a genuine surprise and one of the highlights of their time in Portugal. Are you ready to discover it?
