Perspective changing!

Our guide, Luca, was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time teaching us about the marble and its extraction. It was fascinating and really changed our perspective of everything else we saw while touring Italy. From churches to altars to statues - we saw everything with a different lens and more knowledge than had we not taken this tour. We highly recommend this little side trip to Carrara.

A definite MUST DO in Pisa

Our guide, while I cannot remember our guides name. We cannot forget the excellent tour she gave us. She was originally from Rome, but came to study and stayed in Pisa...you can certainly feel her sense of pride and love for the city of Pisa. This made the tour that much more perfect!! In that 1 hour time span, there was so much history and knowledge incorporated that definitely makes this tour one that is a definite MUST DO in Pisa. You will not be disappointed!! Stepping into history.

So much history in a small area. The beautiful buildings and the walk up the tower, wow! It affects your balance, so take it slowly. Just incredible! Our guide, Anastasia, brought to life the buildings and their past use, how they are used now and their restoration. Pisa and these gems are a must see!

Vineyard tour

We were driven to the vineyard by our driver Tommi, who was very knowledgeable of the area. Excellent tour of this beautiful family vineyard in Tuscany. We met the family, and were shown around by a very knowledgeable guide. We learnt the whole process from growing the grapes, through to bottling. We tried several wines accompanied by local meats, cheeses and bread, followed by local honey and cake. We would highly recommend this tour. We visited in January, but the sun shone and we ate inside, in front of a lovely fire.

I absolutely loved this...

I absolutely loved this walking tour. David, was incredibly knowledgeable and brought Pisa’s history to life in such a fascinating way. He shared so much insight into why so many of Pisa’s buildings are tilted or sinking, the impact of the war, and how different civilisations shaped the city over time. The stories behind the Leaning Tower were really interesting, from why it was built where it was, how it was built, why it leans, to the modern engineering that’s made it safe to climb today. I was originally planning to visit Pisa on my own and had started researching what to see and do, but nothing I found online came close to the depth of understanding I gained from this tour. I walked away with such a richer appreciation of the city and its history. I’m so glad I joined. It really gave so much more meaning to my visit.

A "rock" solid tour!

An excursion of a lifetime! Our new friend, Thomaso, our driver and guide, was informational and engaging! Everything from the start was seamless. The drive over seemed to take very little time because he engaged with all of the passengers on the tour. Once we arrived at Carrara, we took a 4 wheel drive into the cave. At that point Francesca , one of the members of the family who mine the marble, gave an amazing discussion of the process required to extract huge blocks of marble from the only internal mines in Carrara. After the tour we drove up to the city of Colonnada. We enjoyed a fun luncheon with lardo, meats, wine and bread. A fantastic day that we all highly recommend.

Incredible basilica with a super tour guide. Oh and there's a leaning tower too.

Of course, we all have to see the Tower - but in my opinion the Basilica steals the show. Absolutely gorgeous inside and out. Our guide Eloise successfully navigated our small group through the mobs getting their shots holding up the tower, while giving us a lot of great information. She was very kind and incredibly knowledgeable. If you're going to visit Pisa, I think you will be disappointed in your visit if you don't invest in a guided tour, a great guide like Eloise adds so much to the experience.

Good Wine

Good plan to do. Private. Good driver and guide. Lots of facts and very flexible with timing and locations. Emilia was fantastic and even though we had a rainy day we loved the experience. Food was good but it’s mostly snacks like salami and bread, not enough cheese. You try 6 wines and all you want to drink so definitely worth it.
