Our experience is an educational tour to learn about the culture of mezcal and all the tradition that surrounds it. We will begin our trip starting from the center of the city of Oaxaca and we will visit the towns of Mitla and Matatlán. There we will take a walking tour through our majestic agave fields with thousands of specimens, where we will be able to learn more about this plant, as well as having enough time to do a couple of activities and of course the best photographs. Then we will continue to an artisan mezcal distillery to learn step by step, the entire artisan process of making our drink. You will meet in center...

You will meet in center of Oaxaca and travel in bus to Monte Albán. Our guide (Miguel) did such a good job of making the ruins come to life by providing more context and even highlighting additional artifacts with use of magazines. We would never have gotten as much from our tour without Miguel's expertise. We really enjoyed his approach! We had about 45min of "free time" after the guided tour finished to look at the ruins in closer detail and visit the indoor museum. Go early because it will be hot! Bring water. There is a small restaurant along with the museum for drinks and snacks. We then traveled back to the city center on the bus.

The best tour we did in all of Mexico, special thanks to our guide!

Would give this 7 stars if I could! We absolutely loved this experience, wow! I thought 6-7 hours might be too much time but I could have gone another 7 hours! We loved the pre-Hispanic history provided by our guide throughout our walking tour of Oaxaca. We felt like we saw the majority of old Oaxaca on our tour and saw so many things we would have otherwise missed. This includes the food! I am not usually one to try different foods but this was so much fun and so, so tasty. Ours favorite were the black mole tamales which would have been impossible to find if not for this tour - we didn’t see them anywhere else in Oaxaca on our trip, and the variety of Oaxacan fruits, including a chewable stick which was SO cool, and spicy!!! We loved the mezcals, the fruits, the pre-Hispanic atols and conversation with our guide. We were lucky enough to be the only group on the day we booked and if a private tour isn’t already available, I’d recommend this operator to create a private tour, because it felt so much more personable and intimidate with only the 3 of us. Highly recommend if you love food and history! We wouldn’t have tried 95% of the foods we tried on this tour had it not been for the tour. We also wouldn’t have seen 70% of the sites and markets if we didn’t book this tour. I’ll be recommending this tour to everyone. I loved meeting the owners of every restaurant/market we stopped at, too.

Fabulous tour

This tour far exceeded expectations. Our guide, Michelle, was so knowledgeable and just a delight. We learned so much about each of our stops - Monte Alban, the mezcal ancestral, the Alebrijes and the pottery. It was a tour for 6 and the other couple on our tour was also delightful. The Hierve el Agua location was very sunny the day of my trip. If other people have similar conditions on the day of their trip, then a wide brimmed hat is probably a good idea and also plenty of water for the hike. If you're prone to sunburn, take sunscreen or wear a long sleeve shirt.

Good tour overall!

Overall the tour was nice. The tree was interesting and that stop was a good start to the morning. The hierve el agua guided hike was very slow because of the large group, so don’t expect that to be vigorous. It is also in the hot sun the whole time, so come prepared with sun block. Mitla also had a short guided tour which was informational and then you had free time to explore the area. The textile demo was really cool - we learned about how to make and dye yarn as well as weaving technique. There was an opportunity to purchase rugs at the end of the demo. This was the highlight of the tour for us. We ended the tour with mezcal tasting of 8 different mezcals and some liqueurs, which was a fun end to the trip. Bring cash with you to purchase lunch and any items from markets. Most bathrooms on the trip also cost 5-10 pesos.

A must-do tour for first time visitors to Oaxaca!

This is a jam-packed but very well organised tour which includes several must-do activites in Oaxaca. We elected to go straight to the pools at Hierve del Agua rather than doing the hike and I would highly recommend this because it was so quiet when we got there that we almost had the pools to ourselves! The mezcal tasting was incredible (I think we were given 11 different types of Mezcal to try) and we especially loved our guided tour of Mitla and the info the guide shared about the Tule tree/town of Tule. We didn’t catch the name of our guide unfortunately but he was incredible and did a great job managing an at times rather difficult tour group. We were a little sad in the morning to have missed out on some of his guided commentary on the bus ride to the waterfalls (he stopped after someone interrupted him asking to get off the bus). We understood why he didn’t continue as most of the group were visibly disengaged, but we had been enjoying hearing about the local indigenous history of the area!

Miguel and Auto are awesome guides!

Miguel was our tour guide, he was great! We went to a few spots outside of Oaxaca and learned a lot. We spent just the right amount of each spot so I didn't get bored. we also got some mezcal to pre game, everything was great! Auto was our driver and he did great job driving and made us feel safe. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone, and if your worried about the hike like I was done be, I opted out for the hike and still had a great time sight seeing.

Amazing trip seeing lots of wildlife

We were very lucky and saw Manta-rays, Turtles, Spotted Dolphins, White-bellied Dolphins, Blue Whales, and Killer Whale. Our pilot was fantastic, and would definitely recommend using the company (just know that the animals are seasonal and wild, so you’ll not always see the same animals on each trip)

This tour was perfect! We met up early and avoided the crowds, first we did a small hike to observe the waterfall from below, then had some time to enjoy the view and swim in the natural pool. It was not crowded at all and Paul was very knowledgeable and nice, it felt like going on an excursion with a friend. Highly recommended!

Our guide, Fernando, was excellent. He was informative, funny and engaging. His explanations of what we were observing really brought Monte Alban and the wider Mesoamerican history and culture to life! We enjoyed how personalised the tour was and that we were in a small group. Before we took the tour we were sceptical of the buffet lunch but it was very good. It wasn’t just for tourists but also frequented by local people with a wide selection of typical Oaxacan food.
