This was was a magical experience traveling by horseback through the most beautiful biome to sacred and healing hot springs outside of Puerto Escondido. We crossed the river 6 times on this beautiful trail to our destination (almost an hour each way). Guillermo “Willie” our guide was so patient, making sure that I was comfortable and felt safe the whole time. I was nervous at first because it had been 20 years since I’d ridden a horse. I was so grateful for the way he made me feel taken care of.
The hot springs were amazing 🤩 and you could feel the healing energy in this place! There are 5 pools all with varying temperatures from warm to very hot. This place was an oasis and I thoroughly enjoyed going from the hot springs to the cool water of the creek. There are so many opportunities to capture your memories with photos because the backdrop is out of this world.
I had such a special experience that I took the tour again, the next day. I felt called back to this special place. Don’t miss this experience when visiting Puerto Escondido!

The horses were beautifully trained, good for beginners, and the guy leading us was friendly via non-verbal communication, very chilled. The landscape we travelled through was beautiful, too. The hot springs were lovely, most hotter than we could manage! Incredible natural heat, very exciting. I've given three stars purely because we didn't get some of what we paid for and when I contacted Willy at Experientias Nativas to find out what happened we never heard back. So it's more of a flag to check the package: no English guide, tortilla-making or mezcal-tasting, which we had been really looking forward to. But the horse riding and hot springs are a must if you are in the area!

An extraordinary experience. Make sure you wear sunblock and if you forget a hat, they have some there you can use. Make sure you pack water and snacks because none is provided. Be aware that if you dye your hair and you dip your head in the water it does strip your color. It also tarnishes some silver. My stainless steel & gold did fine tho.

This event was a total disaster. No one contacted me the day before, and instead I got a phone call before 8 am saying there was a community event and they needed to reschedule the trip until 3 pm same day. I rearranged my entire day (staying this day in Puerto precisely for this event), and was ready to go when I got another call at 2:10 pm canceling the excursion. Had they had the courtesy to cancel in the morning my hotel could have arranged another trip, but because they canceled at the last minute I wasted an entire day. I can't say enough about the unprofessional behavior of the tour leaders.

The ride to the hot springs is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. I do wish the guide offered more explanation, guidance with the horses by leading us and more history of the springs but the hot springs themselves are very relaxing, well preserved and there is a river alongside of them if they feel too hot for you. Overall would highly recommend it’s a unique and beautiful experience!

This was one of the times of our lives.. the beauty of the trail was breathtaking, the horses were serene, the hot springs and the history of the Chatinos spiritual baths our guide told us about was spell bounding. Absolutely magical.

This horse ride takes you through a beautiful landscape that crosses three rivers and ends at hot springs. Your guides, Willy and his father in law, are excellent and knowledgeable. The horses are very well behaved and the guides are experts in handling the horses. Overall, this is an amazing experience, especially if you love animals and nature.

The experience was truly wonderful. Carlos spoke English, was friendly from the start, and made everything easy. The waters were beautiful, and we had plenty of time to enjoy them without feeling rushed. On the way back, he even went the extra mile and stopped to get us typical Oaxacan chocolate, which was such a thoughtful touch. Highly recommend this tour.

What a breathtaking experience! First, we were greeted by Carlos who will drive you to the family’s farm. He was extremely friendly, kind, and gave us a bunch of recommendations for food/places to check out. Once we arrived at the small town, the family was welcoming and efficient in getting us situated with our horses. Someone from the family guided us to the hot springs (and their 3 dogs came along with us, all super well behaved!). On the horse ride, we crossed through the most beautiful scenery ever (rivers, farms, sights of mountains, etc!!) We had ample time to relax at the Hot Springs. Made such awesome memories.

Amazing experience. Our driver Carlos was amazing and very knowledgeable. Took us to the town where we would be riding the horses, we met Jamie which was our tour guide and he made the experience a 20/10. Definitely would recommend.

Great trip! We got picked up and dropped off from the Hotel and the horses were super. It was our first time riding and it was so much fun. The views on the way to the hot springs were amazing. Overall an amazing experience

Will picked us up at our hotel and we drove to his small town where we got on some very well trained horses. On horseback we crossed the river several times and ended up at these breathtaking natural hot springs!! Will had lots of interesting information to share and there was some very scenic places to appreciate throughout this trip. Highly recommended!!

We had the most incredible time on this day out. Absolute must for anyone staying in puerto escondido. So much fun and William and Nico were so helpful and accommodating to any requests on the tour, including stopping for swims along the way in the river. Highly highly recommend. The scenery was incredible as well.

Willy is lovely and was great with our group, which included my husband and I along with a family of 4 who had never ridden horses. The thermal baths are incredible, definitely worth taking the time to visit if you’re in the area. It’s also a super gorgeous landscape, and fun to experience it on horseback. Especially fording the river, which you have to do a bunch of times!
Our horses got separated/ahead of the others on the way back and it was getting dark out, and I had trouble stopping mine to wait for the others… so that was a bit stressful! But the horses know the way back to town and everyone in the village is super friendly, so we made it there just fine.

Afternoon bookings are actually not possible due to river heights. Transport can be improved. The horse riding was great and the hotsprings even better! Willy was a friendly and helpfull guide.

We were supposed to be picked up at 7 am. We waited for 50 minutes and tried to contact the guide several times. After 50 minutes we got the message that the tour was cancelled due to high water in the rivers. I fully understand that the tour depends on the weather but cancelling it after letting us wait for almost one hour is not the way it should work. I havent received a refund yet, so far no answer to my messages from the tour operator.

Our tour was booked at 9am but the car never showed up and no one at the company would respond to us. Found out a few hours later their town ran out of electricity and they came to pick us up at 3pm. Didn’t really teach us how to ride horses which was fine for me since I ride but my boyfriend has never been on a horse

Incredible experience riding the horses. I ended up going on a different tour with the sunset group because I didn’t want to be the only one on the thermal bath tour. It was the best choice and I had so much fun galloping along the beach with newfound friends. The chilling on the beach with the horses and drinking coconuts with the extra cherry on top and it was an incredible ride back watching the sunset. They allow all levels to ride, and the horses are very well behaved and well-taken care of. 10 out of 10 recommend this experience! Once in a lifetime for sure!

I loved this trip. It was a wonderful combination of riding and seeing the rural village and countryside. The hot springs were 5 hot pools in shaded lush trees. Good for the muscles but too hot to linger for long on a hot summer day. Bring water as they did not offer any drink or food as the advertisement promised. Despite this I felt it was good value for the trip.

We had an amazing time. The springs were lovely but i loved the horseback riding. Our guide spoke perfect english which helped, but he was also very flexible with timings as we needed to finish slightly earlier so he changed the duration of elements. During the ride he also spoke about his life, how they trained the horses and how they all had different personalities. And he pointed other things out along the route. Initially i was worried that it would be too hot, but parts of the trail is under tree cover or shade, and i never felt too hot.

Absolutely incredible experience. Best yet since we've been here! Willy was a great host and picked us up on time.
Jamie was a wonderful cowboy and the horses were lonely. Calm and trustworthy. Crossed the river many times. Pools and river are beautiful and relaxing.
Homemade mole from Alejandrina afterwards was absolutely perfect. My partner said it was the best meal we've had since being in Mexico. An absolute must and a perfect day.

This is an absolute must advebture if you are in the area of Puerto Escondido. The guids, horses, sights, sounds and soak in the incredible hot springs was worth every moment. I would have done the whole experience again the moment it was over. Please do it and enjoy :)
