We pick you up from your hotel in the evening and together we go in search of the Northern Lights in a comfortable coach/mini bus. Named after the Roman goddess Aurora, these colourful lights swirl around the sky in a dramatic dance, leaving different patterns and shapes. We drive away from the electric street lights of Akureyri to more rural areas where there is a better chance of seeing the Northern Lights. Once we find the lights, we make sure you have enough time to take plenty of photographs. The Northern Lights have had a number of names throughout the history. Tremendous Trip

Our Tour Operator was Magic Iceland Tours, and it sure was magical. The itinerary was altered slightly because of the rain, but all stops were so interesting, and our guide was fantastic. Her knowledge of Iceland and the places we visited not to mention the folklore stories, was extensive and she made it all so interesting. Great bus ride to the waterfall. Guide gave good info on the way. Waterfall was beautiful. Lots of flies up there. There are two paths. The one was not crowded and flies minimum. The bus driver also drove through the town giving us info and allowed people to get off in various places before returning to port.

Great tour experience-highly recommend!

The tour guide was wonderful, provided lots of good information and local color. The waterfall was beautiful. The pickup from the cruise terminal was flawless. There was internet on the bus. Afterwards they offered dropoffs at the botanic gardens or near the city center before returning to the cruise terminal. This was a great afternoon excursion!

Fantastic trip, guide Gabba was brilliant!

This trip was brilliant and the amount of geothermal things we saw and the scenery was stunning. We had Dabba as our local guide and she drove the minibus. Dabba is from Akureyi and she gave us so much interesting and useful information, it was brilliant! Dabba also gave us a little tour of parts of Akureyi on route which was lovely to see. We did this tour which picked us up and dropped us back to our cruise ship. We saw the pseudocraters, lava fields of Dimmuborgir, Hverir geothermal area with its bubbling mud pools, steaming fumaroles and a landscape like the moon was amazing. The strong smell of sulphur is not very nice! We also went to Godafoss waterfall that was beautiful with its glacial water. It was lovely that a stop at a cafe in Godafoss for coffee and a treat was included in the tour and a welcome break. We felt the trip was well worth the money and experience. It would have been good to have had a little bit longer in each place but knew timings had to be strict as we all had to get back to our cruise ship.

Choose this tour to see a great variety of nature

Godafoss is a beautiful waterfall (wish we'd had more time here). The Lava formations were striking, and it was fun to learn about the Yule Lads and sit in their cave. The lake and old craters were interesting, and going to the mud pots was cool to see. *Make sure to have the mosquito head net when going to see the lake / craters. And, run across the street for the ice cream.

Relaxing Experience

With the shuttle being right at the cruise pier it was easy to get to the lagoon. The lagoon was not crowded and not touristy, many locals go to this lagoon. Beautiful view of the fjord. Changing rooms and shower facilities very clean. The drink selection at the swim-up bars is somewhat limited, but this did not lessen the experience. A very reasonable price especially considering transportation was included.

We saw a whale!

The weather changed greatly as you left the fjord. We were glad to have brought our gloves and hats. The tour provided interesting information and facts concerning the whales predictable blows prior to deep dives so we could watch for the tail. Glad we chose a little larger boat for the tour as the sea was a bit choppy at the entrance to the fjord.

A great experience

This is an excellent trip that takes you in a mini bus from the port to Haugenes to start your whale watching adventure. You are supplied with wet weather coveralls, which we definitely needed as it was windy, rainy and wet from spray on our trip. Do wrap up warm with a hat even in the summer months. For the first half hour the whales were elusive but our skipper and guide know these waters well and we were rewarded with some great views of whales close to the boat and further away. We saw humpbacks and a minke whale put on a great display. Trying to photograph them is quite hard with a boat and whales that are constantly moving so sit/stand and just enjoy the site of them. A great experience.

Simply the greatest whale watching!

Amazing experience! We saw at least 4 humpback whales, incredibly active. Mother and calf together, two whales hunting together... Not to mention an absolutely stunning sunset! Captain Austin and our zoologist guide, Kaj, were friendly and knowledgeable. The RIB boat ride itself is a blast as well. It does get cold out on the bay--they provide a protective suit but you'll likely want to bring gloves, hat, and scarf. And if you are prone to motion sickness, be sure to use your Dramamine. But I seriously cannot recommend this tour enough. We did this tour two years ago, and bright our teens with us this time to share the magic with them.

Fantastic trip

We had a fantastic trip all the staff were so friendly and helpful. I was a bit concerned about the suits you have to put on as I'm quite a big guy but they had a range of sizes that fitted well im probably a uk 3xl/4xl and fitted fine if anyoneis worried! We did manage to see several different whales and was such a unique opportunity to get so close to these amazing creatures. 10 out of 10 would do it again in a heartbeat. Great trip fantastic crew Thank you so much for this amazing experience
