Witnessed a beautiful emotional interaction between Scuba the humpback whale with our boat We first observed Scuba for many minutes from a distance surfacing for air when all of a sudden Scuba started moving towards our boat. Captain immediately cut the motor. Scuba first surfaced very close to the boat’s stern and then dove along starboard side showing off its tale! . Finally dozens of meters from the ship’s bow, Scuba rose its head with a slight roll and pectoral slap as a good bye to our boat. The crew expertly told us about the characteristics of humpback whales and once Scuba’s tale was seen could identify and tell how it took marine specialists three days to free Scuba from entanglement of fishing lines a few years back and how happy Scuba was upon being freed that it did a full breach despite being so tired. I felt amazed to witness that Scuba wanted to be close with humans as a gesture of thanks. The crew was incredible in their understanding and respect of marine life. I will never forget this beautiful afternoon on the Strait of Georgia. .

I would recommend just doing the boat cruise without the “behind the falls” addition as the extra hour in between the two excursions is mainly the tour guide providing a history of people that have gone over the falls during the long walk to the tunnels.. The actual “behind the falls” tunnels only take a short time to view.

Prepared to get wet!! Boat ride is very wet but ponchos take the most of it. Great trip on the boat but also the tunnels experience and all the historic and current facts about the hydro electricity and those who have gone over in a barrel! Dave was an excellent guide, very informative and relaxed. Well organised.
