What To Expect

Head to the Banff Gondola any time during its normal hours of operation to begin your ride. Climb inside a comfortable, modern, 4-person gondola cabin for the trip to the top of Sulphur Mountain. As your cabin ascends high above this mountain paradise, admire bird’s eye views of Banff’s alpine scenery and meandering rivers, arriving at the summit of Sulphur Mountain.

While on top, feel free to explore the boardwalk leading to Sanson’s Peak, a national historic site, or just sit back, relax and enjoy the view. After your allotted time at the top, simply grab your assigned gondola back down to the base of the mountain.

Everything was great besides from the voice over in the gondola. The voice was very unsettling and unnecessary. Please change it to music or allow for guests to silence it!!

The gondola was a great experience! The summit has a lot to do for kids and the views were amazing. If you’re afraid of heights, the ride up is a little intense but short.

If the restaurant is fully booked online, just go arround 3 or 4 pm. It's empty. Folks book for 6 pm onwards when it's dark...useless. I went up 3 times in one week. It was worth every penny.

An absolutely lovely experience. Walking to the summit was quite a beautiful thing to do. The view’s exquisite and the memories made with never be forgotten. The only thing that was truly heartbreaking was that the restaurants were not open at all. One said it was under construction and the other to a private event. Very very disappointing. But other than that so glad we took in a piece of Canadian history!

If your scared of heights just close your eyes til you make it up top cause the views are worth it….. even if it’s warm down below take your jacket cause it gets windy….. but 10/10 would recommend…… but go on a clear day so you can see all of the range.

Amazing views!! We went up before sunset so we got to enjoy the views in the daytime and enjoyed the lights by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate. Would highly recommend!!

Great time at the gondola. Recommend going at sunset time so you get day light view and evening view. Bundle up, it’s cold and windy. Restaurant was also very yummy.

First time going on the Banff Gondola today and it will be the only time. It was extremely windy on the way down and stopped 2 x not even half way down. When we got down we asked the employee why it stopped and they said cause of the crazy winds. As far as im concerned maybe some warning signs should be posted to let people know that it stops when its very windy and sways horribly back and forth , it wasn't a pleasant experience , pretty terrifying. Definitely won't be returning not worth $150

Arrive a half hour early if you like looking through gift shops. Printedd tickets are required. They will print them for you if you forgot like me! Make sure your phone is fully charged the views are stunning! Banff is always gorgeous, but this is next level!

The gondola ride was very smooth. The staff were plesant and cheerful in mood. The view while going up and down was fantastic. at the top the view was even more exceptional. Although it was freezing especially with the wind. There were fires where you could have marsh mellows. I would recommend this experience as one of the highlights of going to Banff.

We loved the vintage Christmas with all the arts and crafts for the kids. Staff was so friendly and very helpful! The views were amazing! We did take time to enjoy food in restaurants and were very pleased!

Make sure to dress warm and wear good winter boots if you plan to walk the wooden path to the peek across from the indoor summit. Also bring a camera and be prepared for breathtaking views everywhere you look.
