Skip the line isn’t really skip the line. Told to arrive 30 mins early so I did. Stood in a giant queue in the rain getting drenched, only to hit the front of the line and told by security we are too early. Had to wait in the rain and then queue up again.

The title of the tour was "Skip the Line" however, that was not the caae. We had to wait in a very long line with others who also bought the so-called "Skip the Line". When we did make our way inside, it was a nice tour, but it would have been nicer with details associated with direction or order of the museum and chapel.

Viator screwed up both our tour dates and times and they did nothing to fix their mistakes. They booked our colosseum. Tour for the wrong day we wanted Sunday they tried to book it for Saturday. We already had a tour scheduled for Saturday for the Vatican that we book through them. They also screw up the time for that one!!! They would not do anything for us because of their screwups don’t use this company they suck
Jesse_F, Dec 2025
The museum itself was wonderful; the Viator experience not at all. First, this company buys hard-to-get online tickets and resells them at exhorbatent prices. The digital delivery of the tickets is also overly complicated. The PDF files sent the day of the reservation could not be downloaded due to copyright restrictions. The use of Whatsapp as the primary mode of delivery is also a clunky experience. The location of the meeting point to get digital tickets changed last minute. And once your email address is given you can expect nonstop spam.

you need to be technically savy. It would have been easier if the passes were emailed with the confirmation.

Dear traveller,
thanks for your comment, yes we always send tickets to email and WhatsApp if anyone has
Mirinisa_L, Oct 2025
it's way over price just for the skip-in-line without either guided tour or include an audio tour....
Niklas_V, Oct 2025
The experience itself was good. Being able to skip the line was a timesaver however getting the tickets was a bit of a nightmare. Being from out of country meant that our wifi & data was spotty so we never received the original tickets & when we phoned customer service they took a long time to understand that we couldn’t receive the emails with the ticket download. By this time our initial contact had left. We were then instructed to go meet another agent (who ended up not being there either) before finally telling us to go to a tour vendor who printed off our tickets in no time at all. Why not just send us there first? It was very close to the location & took about 1 minute. Overall we wasted about 2 hours just trying to get our tickets then had to explain why we were late to the Vatican admissions gate. Overall though the tour was worth the time & it is worth seeing. Just make sure that you get your tickets before going to the venue.

We apologise for this situation. we always send tickets to email . if your internet don’t work properly then what can we do for that. we send another vendor later because he is another agency !

The best way to see a major attraction is by not lining up.
We were able to walk right I , bypassing the extremely long line on a hot day.
Chao_D, Sep 2025
the trip is cancelled by the last minutes. waste of time!
I called them 1 hour before to confirm. they said everything is god. no problem. when we arrived there , we can't entre. I called again then the say it's cancelled!!!!
Response from Host, Sep 2025
we are really sorry for your bad experience. As we explained that day was strike in Rome , for this reason my colleague(who has responsibility for tickets) could not came to the office. that was the reason for cancellation.
Louise_B, Aug 2025
Very good experience little expensive. Loved walking round but price doesn’t reflect activity. Thank you
Nicole_D, Aug 2025
Got in quickly, a little confusing at entrance but worth skip the line! Made getting around the Vatican easy without a tour
Amy_B, Aug 2025
Purchasing the tickets through this experience made the whole experience amazing. We had a very limited time in Rome, but knew we had to see the the treasures inside the Vatican. The tickets were delivered directly to my smart device. We were able to go straight to the vatican at our time and went right in. We did not have to worry about a meeting place or finding a person. If you want a no hassle way into the museum to take in the sights at your own pace, check this out.

We had an amazing time visiting the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel. The audio self-guided tour was extremely informational. We appreciated being able to travel at our own pace.
Rebecca_T, May 2025
Stunning, so much to see and learn. Figure your own path through the Vatican as the map does not go in order. Rather just flow from room to room as you prefer.
Denise_C, May 2025
We booked the tour for 10 am months before. The day of we received the tickets but the time was 9 to 9:30 when we got to Vatican we were not given access. After much back and forth the vendor got us new tickets for 11:30. We paid for skip the line but had to wait an hour and a half. We should have been given tickets with the time that matched the boucher
Response from Host, May 2025
Hello mam, we apologised for that. That was a mistake by us. But we made you clear a day before but still you was late. For your fault we paid again new tickets for you. After all those hard work you are blaming us!
William_M, May 2025
It was very crowded and difficult to navigate to optimize seeing as much as possible. In addition, it was a bit underwhelming. We expested more.
Response from Host, May 2025
Thanks for your review. But this review section is for our service , not about vatican.
Liv_S, May 2025
To long. To little information on which que to start in. We where told to meet at one particularely place and when we met there we where supposed to be in another line.
Response from Host, May 2025
We are really sorry for your experience. But we did clear that you need to go to the gate number 1. If you go to another gate we think it’s not our fault.
tmcwatters, May 2025
Missed our meeting place with the group
Couldn’t find the McDonald’s
Can we get a refund from Viator
Response from Host, May 2025
Hello visitor,
You did not gave us your valid phone number. But we send tickets and all the instructions to your email.
If you did not seen anyone infront of McDonalds why didnot you call us !
Craig_F, May 2025
What an utter disaster. I understood when tour group advised that the Sistine Chapel was closed this week.
We had back to back tours this day with this one being the second tour. I booked the tour for 1.00pm to make sure there was enough time after the end of the first tour. They sent me a timed entry for 12.00. As the first tour ran over time due to how busy the Vatican is this week, we didn’t get out until 1.00. We couldnt use our tickets. Yeah, the ones they sent for 12.00 but I booked for 1.00. Now they won’t refund the tickets.
Not impressed.
Response from Host, May 2025
Hello sir, we always ask customer to arrive atleast 20 minutes earlier in Vatican.
You were informed a day before your tour about timing, you did not said anything to us!
Even everyone can use their tickets 45 mintues after the time start!
Steve_D, May 2025
So we booked skip the line Vatican tickets and the operator emailed us a week ago to let us know the Sistine Chapel would be closed for the Conclave. The email said our tickets were still valid and that we could get in contact to discuss options if we want. Cool, no problem, would have loved to see the Sistine Chapel, but that’s out of our control now.
Turn up at the meeting point and he’s not there, doesn’t answer the phone. Eventually he responds via WhatsApp and tells us that because we didn’t respond to his email he assumed we wanted to cancel. Refuses to offer another ticket and then coincidentally we get an email from Viator saying a refund request has been made. Called him on the phone, he eventually answers and refuses to come discuss in person. We did get the refund, but totally disappointed with the operators service and communication. I would avoid.
Response from Host, May 2025
We are really sorry for your bad experinence! Everyone emailed us if they wanted the tickets or not. Because sistine chapel was closed. So we thought that you will ask refund later that’s why we made you full refund. This problem shouldn’t happen if you would emailed me once.
Caroline_P, May 2025
The operator who sold the tickets and passes sent tickets for the wrong day. Never responded to me about it. I had to buy tickets again at the Vatican Museum. Bad service
Response from Host, May 2025
We always responded you mam! How we did not respond you ? We mistakenly booked wrong day tickets for you but we refund you your full money. You can not tell lie about us !
Sonia_P, Apr 2025
Was awesome but too busy with huge crowds due to Jubilee year so we did not get a map of the museum tour and had to work our way around on our own. Sistine chapel was sadly closed.
Joel_S, Apr 2025
Wow this is a self guided tour, the most important part of this tour is it allows you to skip the line. If you get there in the morning, you will see the line wraps around the building. Purchasing tickets that allow you to skip the line saves a ton of time. The downside to having a self guided tour is at your prone to miss some things. We almost missed the Sistine chapel.
Dianne_B, Apr 2025
We were told to meet at McDonald's which was way out of the way, we had to find our own way, then wait another 2 hours for our "time" to enter the Vatican. Very disappointed in the company 😒. Would only recommed it to someone who is not only physically fit but has no foot issues.
Response from Host, May 2025
Hello, we are really sorry for your bad experience . Your tour was at 12:30pm.
Our team send you tickets with all the instruction on the morning at 08:00am. We thought it will be easier for you to go to the museum without meeting point. We thought it will save your time too. And Mcdonalds is only 2-3 minutes far from museum main entrance. How it is far of the way i have no idea!
Darren_C, Apr 2025
Very easy to sort out. Operator was very responsive and sent the tickets the morning off the event and answered all questions I had. A great experience overall.
Travis_C, Apr 2025
Be exactly on time. Don’t show up even 15 minutes late… Lost 85€on this and had to wait in line and buy another ticket anyway. Insanely overpriced for the value. Better off just waiting in line since the actual cost is 20€ for entry…. Basically told tough luck and go get in line from my operator contact who didn’t offer any recourse other than to wait until 4:30… the museum closes at 5. Total hustle don’t waste your money with these clowns
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Hello sir, in the comment box there is no way to attach screenshot. I wish i could attach here our conversation from whatsapp.
You was 2 hours late, it’s not 15 minutes late ! Still vatican allow tourists if they are 30 mins late. But how they will allow you if you are two hours late. I just made you this clear. It wasn’t insulting you. But you got me wrong. And you gave another wrong news that vatican close at 5. Last entrance for vatican is 5:30 pm , how it will be close at 5? For your information vatican close at 7pm.
If the Vatican don’t allow you before 4:30 , what can i do.(because you were late 2 hours). For your late arrival how could you blame us !
Angela_H, Apr 2025
This is a must in Rome! Buying skip the line tickets is the only way to do it. You'll see the line and agree. Everything is absolutely stunning inside!
Lynne_M, Oct 2024
A great idea to buy skip the line tickets as the normal queue was huge, probably would have taken us hours to get in. Because of our own mistake on the metro system we were late in collecting our tickets. Thankfully they changed our entry time to an hour later. This was really appreciated and unexpected. Would definitely use this company again.
Anesh_R, Oct 2024
Absolutely worth it to pre-book and get the Skip the Line. The regular line looked to be at least 1.5 hours long, and we were able to get in within 15 mins (they allow you in with a larger group at your booked time slot). Even more impressive, even though I made an error and booked on the wrong date, the tour operator adjusted the tickets, delivered them back to us on time when we got to Rome, and supported throughout the whole experience. Of course, the museum was fantastic as well!!
Travis_J, Oct 2024
Communication was great, delivery of tickets on time and as promised. The experience was spectacular to see history and the great works of art only known via pictures or history books prior.
