- A dress code is required to enter the selected places of worship and museums. Shorts and sleeveless tops are not permitted. Knees and shoulders MUST be covered for both men and women. You may be refused entry if you do not comply with these dress requirements.
- Travelers with a disability card do not need to purchase tickets.
- Please be aware that access to the Sistine Chapel is subject to Vatican regulations and ceremonies. The Vatican Museums may decide to close the Sistine Chapel on short notice for official events or religious proceedings. In the event of any unexpected developments, we are unable to foresee or control these closures in advance. However, your ticket will still grant you full access to the Vatican Museums.

Frederico (aka Fred) was an INCREDIBLE tour guide. A great sense of humour, incredible knowledge and a genuine love for what he does. This was infectious and made our whole group invested and wanting to learn more. We were really impressed with his knowledge but also how attentive he was to the group ensuring everyone was comfortable but also respectful of such a busy area. We are so glad we opted for the guided tour - well worth the money and you leave feeling much more invested!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and provided us with insights that I would have never known about the Sistine Chapel. The office was very close to the Vatican Museums and she was very careful to make sure we were all with her at every waiting point. The experience did feel a little rushed but with all there was to see, I can understand why.

There needs to be better coordination between the Vatican and the tour company given that the Sistene Chapel closed early.

The Sistine Chapel is now accessible only through the other Vatican museums, so you will be tired by the time you reach the Sistine Chapel. That being said, the Sistine Chapel is a must-see. We did not like the company that hosted this event - they were disorganized and slow. We would recommend the Sistine Chapel, but not the host.

Amazing, learned so much and had plenty of time to see everything, no rushing and our guide was great! It was very warm inside some areas so be aware, but the Basilica was cool inside.

The museums and Sistine Chapel were obviously fantastic, but Inside Out Italy also did a great job top to bottom. The office was helpful and clear, the tour guide was great, and they let us into St. Peter’s even though we technically ordered a ticket without that experience.

I'd definitely recommend skip the line tickets. Even with them you're looking at queuing times for ticket and security checks of around 20 to 30 minutes. Without them the queuing time would be much longer which is not ideal, in the summer months it wouldn't be the best start to your visit.
We opted to do our own thing once inside so we could tour the museum etc at our own pace. However, what you miss in doing this is the history behind everything, sculptures, painting, artefacts, buildings etc.
To be perfectly honest towards the end of our visit I was getting bored, which was a shame as there's so much to see. If I visited again I'd definitely book a guided tour.
You can get free aps on your mobile that give you info as you walk around but this didn't work for me personally.
Audio guides can be hired once inside for about 8 euros p/person. Lots of people had these so they may be worth it if an actual guide isn't for you.
Overall what you see is Wow, incredible but someone telling you about it's history etc would be the icing on the cake and make it much more interesting.
Whether you're a religious person or not the Vatican is certainly a place to visit.

Visit with a guide of Vatican museum, so that you rush into it and have the no time to visit all taking your time and then your thrown in St Peter basilique….

It was a very long walk to the Vatican from our drop off point, which wasn’t Viator’s fault. But once we got to Saint Peter Square, it was another 30 minute walk to find the place to exchange our Viator voucher for The Skip the Line ticket. We only had an address, but no name of the place to do this. We should have been given this information by Viator and a more realistic estimate of how long it would take to do get through this process. Fortunately, once we got the ticket, we were escorted by a guide to the proper line to stand in. And we only had to wait in line 10-15 minutes.

This was a great way to skip the line and learn more about Rome! We had no issues and nothing that slowed us down too much- we had plenty of time after to look at more if needed. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable.

Sistine chapel and Vatican museums are overhyped. St Peter's Basillica was very impressive but not included in this. Ticket collection is a pain. Better book directly instead of through vendors like Viator which charges 3 to 4 times more without any value added services.

Our tour guide John directed us past the Long Line and Security, VIP treatment. We had no trouble getting into the museum. He was very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. Once in the museum, definitely rent an audio tour. There are so many different sections and things to see and different times to understand that without some explanation you could be lost. Even with all the displays, the Sistine chapel is truly the highlight of this tour. Thank you, Michelangelo.

I am very disappointed with Viator and Inside Out Italy. I would give no stars at this point. Viator app showed a meeting point but apparently there is a ticket redemption point that is different. We missed the tour because we went to meeting point. I have never had them be separate. Escalated through Viator, they refused our claim and Inside Out Italy was inflexible and expected us to pay for another tour. To have to go to 2 different points in an unknown country is ridiculous! Our other tours had the same meeting point as ticket redemption. We are out $257. Would not book Viator or Inside Out Italy again. I relied on Viator’s reputation and am now very disappointed and will look elsewhere in the future as I travel quite frequently. There doesn’t seem to be any advocate for you if any problems arise. I plan on cancelling my next tour.

Without a doubt the only way to go Our guide was so knowledgeable that alone was worth the price, but when we saw the lines we zipped right past and weren’t stuck standing in the warm sunshine my wife was elated. We added the Basilica on the day of the tour and were pleased that we did.

Our visit to the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica was extremely well organized from start to finish. After meeting the guide and picking up the stickers, we didn’t wait long to enter, which was a big plus.
Fred was an excellent guide. Even while we were waiting in line, he shared fascinating stories about the history of the Vatican and Rome. What made it special was that he didn’t just list historical facts – he explained everything in a very engaging, easy-to-follow way that made the information memorable and interesting.
Inside the Vatican Museums, he guided us smoothly through the highlights without unnecessary delays, spending more time only on the areas he considered most important. His explanations of the statues, artworks, their symbolism, meaning, value, and creation were vivid and easy to understand. He also made sure everyone in the group was involved, encouraged questions, and answered everything patiently.
A big highlight was his introduction to the Sistine Chapel, which he did before entering the museum. Thanks to this, when we finally arrived there, we could simply enjoy the view in silence and fully absorb the beauty.
In St. Peter’s Basilica, Fred shared many interesting fun facts about its construction, explained where everything is located, and talked about historical and scientific facts related to St. Peter’s tomb.
Highly recommended tour, and special thanks to Fred – an amazing guide who truly elevated the entire experience!
