We absolutely loved this tour, it felt far less touristy than many others we did.
While Chichen Itza is awe-inspiring, Cobá was our favourite ruins site. Set deep in the jungle, it has a completely different atmosphere. On arrival, we hired bikes and cycled through the jungle to reach the main pyramid. The climb to the top is manageable, and the views over the jungle are incredible. Being able to climb the pyramid made the experience even more special.
We then cycled back, stopping at other ruins along the way where Joseline gave fantastic and informative talks.
Afterwards, we headed to Punta Laguna. The reserve is quite remote, passing through smaller Mayan villages which were lovely to see. Once there, a guide took us to spot a family of spider monkeys in the jungle. We then hiked to a zip line and flew across the lake, followed by a peaceful canoe ride back.
Next was a cenote well off the beaten path, surrounded by nature. It felt incredibly tranquil, we even shared the space with bats, terrapins, and catfish while swimming. It was a truly relaxing and unique experience.
We finished with lunch hosted by a Mayan family, who prepared fresh and delicious food. It was a special experience to be welcomed into their space.
Joseline was a fantastic guide, passionate, knowledgeable, and clearly enthusiastic about Mexican nature and Mayan culture. Manuel was an excellent driver, expertly navigating some very rough roads.
We would wholeheartedly recommend this tour.

It’s wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed the different contrasts throughout the day—from the jungle atmosphere of Cobá to the remote beauty of Punta Laguna and that peaceful cenote experience. We love that you appreciated the more authentic and less crowded side of these الأماكن. This tour is a perfect balance of history, adventure, and relaxation! Our guide Luigi was knowledgeable about the Mayans and able to bring life to the ruins. Add to that seeing probably 30 monkeys in the wild, a zip line, lunch at an amazing small restaurant, and relaxing/jumping from 8 meters into a Cenote made for a perfect day in Cobá and the surrounding area!

Spent a day in January. Got picked up timely from Playa del Carmen and upon collecting another couple, we headed out to Coba. This was really nice to see a site which is well maintained. The old structures are well preserved and interesting.
We then made our way to Punta Laguna and enjoyed a jungle trek looking for Monkeys. The guide found us some to see which was good. After the zip line fun we grabbed a nice lunch and finished with a deep cenote.
Would recommend this tour company and the guide Alonso, it was good to learn of the local culture and the challenges faced by the communities.

The ruins are fascinating and clearly a must do.
The nature reserve is very interesting. We say some monkeys - although it was from a long distance with glimpses here and there (apparently they're much closer at other times of the year). The zipline was pretty tame but OK.
The lunch was fantastic and it was interesting to meet a Mayan family.
Overall, a good way to spend a day in Tulum.
Response from Host, Dec 2024
Thank you for your review, Lynn!
We're glad to hear that you found the ruins fascinating and that you enjoyed the nature reserve, even if the monkeys were a bit distant. It's great to know that you enjoyed the lunch and meeting a Mayan family. We appreciate your feedback on the zip line experience. We hope to see you again soon for another adventure with Mexico Kan Tours!

Wonderful experience! The Spider monkeys were incredible, and saw a mother with her baby. Got to jump into a spectacular cenote. The walk through the jungle and biking around Coba were terrific. Carlos was an absolutely amazing guide, incredibly knowledgeable of the nature and history and Mayan culture, and super enthusiastic and fun. And our driver Roberto was great! Definitely would recommend!!
Response from Host, Mar 2024

Thank you for sharing your recommendation, and I'm sure others will find it helpful when considering similar experiences!
Penny_S, Feb 2024
We enjoyed the activities like bike, zipline, and canoe.
We did not like the longgg talking, felt the tour could have been 2 to 3 hours shorter if not for all the long talks at each spot. a brochure to read would have been better.
Just a banana and seed bar between 7am and 3pm was not enough...lunch at 3pm after so much physical exertion made us irritable, uncomfortable and very hungry.
We also did not like getting picked up first at 7:15 and dropped off last.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the activities like biking, ziplining, and canoeing during the tour.
We're sorry to hear that you felt the tour could have been shorter due to long talks at each spot. We'll take your suggestion into consideration and work on providing more concise information, although our goal is to provide a guided tour with high qualified guides who share their knowledge with our customers.
Regarding the timing of meals, we apologize for any discomfort you experienced due to the gap between breakfast and lunch. We'll review our meal arrangements to ensure that our guests have adequate sustenance throughout the tour.
We appreciate your feedback about the pick-up and drop-off times. We strive to make our tours convenient for all guests, and we'll consider your comments as we plan future itineraries to ensure a more balanced schedule for all participants.

What a fantastic day! Our excellent guide was Carlos and we were in a small friendly group of 9. We started with a tour of the ruins at Coba; Carlos really brought the history to life. This element of the tour included riding a bike to various sites. We walked, zipped line and kayaked in the jungle; and saw monkeys which was a highlight. Lunch was provided by a lovely family and we walked round their animal sanctuary. The swim in the cenote was great too - we were the only ones there. Thank you also to Edgar for driving us around for the day and collecting/dropping us off at our hotel.
Response from Host, Jan 2024
Thank you for your enthusiastic review! We're delighted to hear that you had a fantastic day on our tour to Coba and Punta Laguna.

It's wonderful that you had the cenote all to yourselves for a refreshing swim, and we appreciate your shout-out to Edgar for driving you around and ensuring a smooth journey.
Thank you for choosing our tour from Tulum !
Renee_R, Dec 2023
Really enjoyed the Mayan village and our guide’s enthusiasm and knowledge. A very clear note should be added regarding pick up time and explaining Viator lists the time wrong on the ticket and the confirmation emails. Also send your guides to the correct hotels.
Response from Host, Jan 2024
We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the Mayan village experience and appreciated our guide's enthusiasm and knowledge. It's always wonderful to connect with the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Thank you for bringing to our attention the issue with the pick-up time and the confusion caused by Viator's listing. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We'll make sure to address again this matter with Viator to ensure accurate information is provided to our future guests. Unfortunately for now Viator does not allow us to remove the automatic time but we hope this will be solved soon...
Your feedback is valuable, and we appreciate your understanding. If you have any more insights or suggestions, feel free to share them. We hope to welcome you back for more enriching experiences in the future.

Paloma, Axel, and the guide in training were simply wonderful. From the well communicated pick up, to the genuine care for how we enjoyed ourselves, all the way to drop off at our hotel, we always felt taken care of. I wish I had known about them earlier to book ALL my excursions with them.
Response from Host, Dec 2023
Hi Rachel,
We hope to host another tour for you very soon! Thank you for the great review.

Awesome day. Alonzo was our guide and he was great. Group was small with 6 people. Day went smooth and everything was notes except people are no longer allowed to climb the steps at Coba.
Response from Host, Apr 2023
Great to see that you enjoyed how the day was planned and went smooth. This our vision to travel, respectful and with small group to keep preserving our nature. Take care.
Mark_S, Mar 2023
The Coba Ruins are a must see. We visited a few other ruins and enjoyed Coba the most. Coba gives you that adventuring discoverer feeling, walking and biking through the jungle and finding ruins hidden amongst the forest will leave you with a sense of awe.
The Punta Laguna cento is also a great choice, it's much less busy than many of the other larger ones. At one point my daughter and I were the only one in it.
Lunch at the Mayan family was also excellent! It's great to see this tour supporting smaller venues run by the Mayan community.
Our guide Sam (spelled Tzamn I think) was extremely knowledgeable about everything we encountered. We learned a lot about the ruins, forest, fauna and Mayan way of life. I highly recommend this tour and others by Mexico Kan Tours. We took a couple of tours with Mexico Kan Tours and some with other operators and found Mexico Kan Tours to have the best planned tours and the most knowledgeable guides.
Response from Host, Mar 2023

Great excursion, both fun and educational. Coba ruins on the bike was great as was nature reserve and visit to Mayan family. Guide Miguel was excellent. Recommended.
Response from Host, Jan 2023
Hello James,
We are very happy that your tour conjugated all this elements to create an enjoyable experience for you. thanks for choosing MKT as your tour company.
Best regards!
Julia_H, Oct 2022
This was by far the best of the three tours I did in the Yucatán peninsula. While chichen itza is more impressive than the coba ruins in its size, the history of coba was way more interesting. My guide Tzamn made it the best trip with his expert knowledge, well timed jokes, and perfect English. The zip line over a lagoon was super fun and safe, we saw both spider and howler monkeys within minutes of looking, and seeing how the Mayan family works with animals was all such an incredible experience. Finishing the day off at a quiet cenote was a nice touch.
Response from Host, Oct 2022
Hello Julia. We are delighted to read you were satisfied of your super knowledgeable guide and that the Mayan Inland Expedition was by far the best tour you did in Yucatan. Please come back again to discover more and more the beautiful Mexico.
Xinyuan_X, Oct 2022
Our tour guide Marco is really knowledgeable. He took a white board to draw things for us to illustrate his points which he really didn’t have to. He really makes this experience memorable! Our driver Antonio is nice and punctual too.
Response from Host, Oct 2022
Thank you to give us this superb feedback! Great to know that you had memorable chats with your guide in which he showed his knowledge of the area and of Mayan culture. Enjoy the rest of your trip
Yana_M, Aug 2022
A great tour of Coba which is much more relaxing then Chitchen Itsa. The jungle park was kid’s favorite. Lunch at the animal conservation lodge was one of the best food experiences in Mexico. Most of all our guid Alejandro was truly exceptional! Treated us like old friends and very knowledgeable about local fauna and flora.
Response from Host, Aug 2022
Thank you for your feedbacks, we are delighted to read you enjoyed the jungle park, it's truly a good adventure combination for kids and adults and you had your best meal in Mexico with us. Hope to see you again.
Brad_R, Jun 2022
Such a great trip, well worth the money. Our tour guide was excellent and we did so many things in such a short period of time. This is a great tour if you've already seen Chichen Itza and looking for something else fun to do.
Response from Host, Jun 2022
Thanks Brad for your recommendation,
What a pleasure to read you had such a great trip to Coba and Punta Laguna with Mexico Kan Tours.
I agree, this tour is a great option after visiting Chichen Itza.
Kevin_C, Mar 2022
The operator changed the tour time departure by 90 minutes the day before the trip. I did not get the message, and when they called the hotel finally it was to inform they were leaving without me, and there would be no refund. Worst travel experience in 50 years of world travel.
Response from Host, Mar 2022
Dear Customers,
Please do not take into account this review that does not reflect what happened.
This client did not read the confirmation message we sent 3 days before his tour and although we called him and our guide waited for him 35min to have him on the tour, he decided that he would not go on the tour.
We actually did give a refund as the client did not know how to use Viator's platform and we were very sorry for that. We hope that Viator will improve its way of communicating with its clients.
If you book with us, please have in mind that the starting time given by Viator/Tripadvisor is not the correct one. We ourselves send a confirmation message with the correct pick up time, depending on your accommodation's location. This cannot be done automatically.
This information is very transparent on all our products pages. Please read it.
Thanks for your understanding.
Alec_I, Feb 2022
This trip was incredible! The day kept getting better. Arriving to coba before the crowds, only to have a trek into the jungle see monkeys up close, and kayak across a beautiful lagoon. Seeing the animal sanctuary and finishing the day off in a cenote all to ourselves I did not expect this trip to be as good as it was. Our guide Liliana was amazing too and made the day incredible!
