Wow - I’m almost beyond words. This was an extraordinary tour, and everything felt elevated all throughout the day. Our tour guide Menashe was a great communicator, and clearly cared about making it a great experience for each of us. This was a small tour experience (van has maximum of 14 seats or so). Menashe was knowledgeable and gave us all kinds of great information as we traveled to the Blue Mountains. There were so many thoughtful touches throughout the day. When we stopped for coffee & scones, we stopped at a local shop and the quality and atmosphere were just superb. Our lunch stop was another locally owned business offering a wide variety of meat pies, which were delicious. These were intentional choices, and they really set the tone for the tour and the day.
The highlight of all of this though was our morning segment with our aboriginal guide Yamandirra. Yamandirra was a passionate, joyful and deeply caring guide sharing with us all kinds of knowledge of the aboriginal cultures (yes, cultures as there were more than 360 aboriginal peoples!). Anyone can stop and see the Three Sisters, but we were taught about the Seven Sisters (yes, there are 7 not just 3) and then how the Seven Sisters were a part of the knowledge, culture and history of the aboriginal people of that area for centuries. Anyone can do the walk to see Katoomba Falls, but only with Yamandirra did we learn about many of the plants, how they were used as medicines and in the daily lives of the people. Only from Yamandirra did we learn about how the painting rocks we walked by became dyes that could last thousands of years. And only from Yamandirra did we learn how Katoomba Falls was such a sacred space for the women of the ancestors. Every step of the walk to the falls was a joyous teaching moment in which we had the chance to honor and begin to understand the philosophy, the ethos, and the ingenuities of the aboriginal peoples.
I could go on and on with praise and appreciation for Yamandirra. Suffice it to say this tour was absolutely amazing, and I know will be the highlight of our entire visit to Australia. I cannot recommend highly enough!

Hi Melinda,
Thank you for your 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review and for sharing such a powerful and heartfelt reflection on your experience. We’re delighted to hear that the day felt extraordinary and elevated from beginning to end.
This Blue Mountains Tour from Sydney with an Aboriginal Experience is intentionally delivered as a small-group experience, allowing time, space, and flexibility for genuine connection. Menashe’s guiding style focuses on clear communication, deep regional knowledge, and ensuring each guest feels personally cared for. The choice to stop at local cafés and family-run food venues is a deliberate part of the tour, setting a relaxed and authentic tone throughout the day.
The Aboriginal experience with Yamandirra is the cornerstone of the tour. His joyful, generous, and deeply informed storytelling brings new meaning to places such as the Seven Sisters, Katoomba Falls, and the surrounding bushland. Learning about bush medicine, sacred women’s sites, traditional dyes, and ancient knowledge transforms familiar landmarks into a living cultural landscape.
Guests travel in a comfortable Mercedes-Benz vehicle, with hotel pickup and drop-off and an early start that allows the Blue Mountains to be experienced in the quiet morning hours, before the crowds, while still returning to Sydney at a comfortable time to enjoy the rest of the day.

This truly was the most amazing tour and much more than I imagined.
I would be lying if I didn’t say I had high hopes, but Menashe and our aboriginal guide exceeded what I thought was possible.
They took great care to adjust the original tour to accommodate for the weather enhancing our experience. As a family of six the pace and locations were perfect. Each stop came with a breath taking takeaway for each kid in their own unique way.
Finishing the trip with great pies and better conversation, it was a perfect authentic Australian experience.
This tour filled my heart and inspired my whole family. I couldn’t be more grateful and honored to learn so much about the native culture.
Thank you so much!
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you so much, Kyle, for your incredibly moving 5-star review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“This tour was all I could talk about” truly touches my heart.
I’m deeply grateful for your kind words and for choosing the Blue Mountains Tour from Sydney with an Aboriginal Experience. At Zanza Tours, our goal is to create something far beyond a standard sightseeing day — a personal, family-friendly, and authentic experience that stays with you long after the tour ends.
I’m especially glad that adjusting the itinerary for the weather helped enhance the day. With small private-style groups, we have the flexibility to adapt the pace and locations so families — especially with children — can enjoy each stop in their own way. Hearing that every child took something meaningful from the experience is exactly what we hope for.
Sharing the day alongside an Aboriginal guide, learning about native culture, connection to Country, and living stories, is a core part of this tour, and I’m honoured it resonated so deeply with your family. Ending the day with great Australian pies, warm conversation, and shared reflection is often where everything comes together.
Thank you for your trust, your openness, and your beautiful words. It was a real privilege to guide your family, and I hope to welcome you again on another journey in Australia.
Warm regards,
Menashe

Dear Lorna,
5-star review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you very much for your kind review, and for choosing to explore the Blue Mountains with Zanza Tours.
As a small family-owned boutique operator, it means a lot to us when guests take the time to share their experience. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the day — the information, the stories, and the Aboriginal cultural components. For us, that deeper layer — connecting to Country, understanding philosophy, bush medicine, traditions and perspective — is what makes this region truly special.
We also love supporting our local mountain businesses, so I’m happy you enjoyed the authentic Aussie food stop — it’s part of the full experience of being “out of the city and into the bush”.
Following repeated requests from our guests, we are now launching on our website a selection of authentic Aboriginal art items — directly made by Aboriginal artists. This is a way for our guests to continue supporting First Nations culture even after the tour.
Thank you again for your feedback — we wish you many more great journeys, and we would be delighted to welcome you again any time.

This tour exceeded every expectation and became the highlight of our time in Australia!
From the moment we were picked up in Sydney, our driver was incredibly informative, offering rich insight into the history, culture, and daily life of both Sydney and its surrounding areas. The journey itself was smooth, scenic, and filled with interesting commentary that set the tone for what was to come.
But the real magic began when we arrived in the Blue Mountains. We were welcomed by our Aboriginal guide, whose knowledge, warmth, and passion brought the landscape to life in a way that was deeply moving. Rather than a typical tourist walk, this was a cultural immersion – a rare opportunity to learn firsthand about Aboriginal traditions, relationships with the land, native plants and their uses, bird calls, and ancient stories tied to the region.
Walking through the breathtaking natural beauty of the Blue Mountains while learning about its significance through an Indigenous lens was unlike anything we’ve ever done. It gave us a much deeper appreciation for the land and its traditional custodians. This wasn’t just a tour – it was an educational and spiritual journey.
Highly recommended for anyone wanting to go beyond sightseeing and truly connect with Australia’s history, people, and natural wonders. A must-do experience!
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Dear Stefania 😊,
Thank you so much for your absolutely beautiful review!
Your words — “absolutely unforgettable,” “deeply enriching,” and “the highlight of our time in Australia” — truly touched our hearts. It means so much to know that the tour not only gave you beautiful memories but also a deeper connection to this land and its people.
Our Blue Mountains Aboriginal Experience Tour departs from Sydney in small and intimate groups, offering a personal and meaningful journey into nature and Indigenous culture.
Together with my brother Yamandirra, a certified Aboriginal storyteller and guide, we lead each experience with heart and a true sense of mission — to share the spirit, stories, and ancient wisdom of the world’s oldest living culture.
After walking through sacred sites and learning about bush medicine and traditional tools, we shared a hot local lunch and a homemade dessert, surrounded by the warmth and hospitality of the Blue Mountains community.
Your heartfelt description of the day perfectly captures what we strive to create — not just a sightseeing tour, but a spiritual and educational journey that connects travellers to the heart of Australia.
Thank you again for your kind words, your sensitivity, and your deep appreciation of what we do.
We hope to welcome you again soon for another unforgettable adventure in Sydney or the Blue Mountains! 🇦🇺
Warm regards,
Menashe 😊 & Yamandirra

My husband and I had a wonderful time exploring the rainforest, eating pies, and learning about the local Aboriginal culture. We highly recommend this experience if you are looking for a more meaningful and intimate Blue Mountains experience.

Menashe and Yamandira were an excellent pair to spend the day with. Menashe customized the tour for our family, which enabled my two kids, 3yo and 6yo, to spend the morning at Featherdale Wildlife Sanctuary feeding wallabies and kangaroos while their energy was still up. They had a great time seeing all of the iconic Australian animals before we moved on to meet up with Yamandira at Leura to visit the Three Sisters. Yamandira immediately jumped into teaching us about native plants and lore. He then gave us an option as to how we wanted to experience the Three Sisters; we opted for the harder hike and didn't regret it! Don't choose that option if you have mobility issues but all of us were able to handle it just fine. we saw spectacular views and visited a small waterfall where Yamandira demonstrated different mineral pigments used by aboriginal people. The kids got a kick out of that part! The tour finished up with lunch at a local meat pie shop which was absolutely delicious (Mountain High Pies in Wentworth Falls), fantastic locally owned choice, before we headed back to Sydney. Overall we had a great time and I would highly recommend!
Maureen_V, Feb 2025
The guide was great and the transportation was excellent.
Wear comfy shoes and clothes.
The whole trip was great.
The walk down to the waterfall may not be accessible for some people. They provide an alternative to a scenic bus ride.
If you are healthy the waterfall is beautiful
Susan_S, Jan 2025
I chose this experience to learn more about the Aboriginal culture. It surpassed my expectations! Both guides were full of information. The welcoming ritual by our Aboriginal guide was a meaningful beginning to our walk with him through the rain forest. Our group was small and our driver guide was so helpful and knowledgeable. By starting early in the morning so we missed the crowds. This was a highlight of our trip.
rttruglio, Jan 2025
Absolutely spectacular day! The driver was The Best—friendly and informative! Food and restaurant choices were Great! And the Aboriginal was superb and very special. We didn’t want to say goobye

We were blown away by this experience! Menashe with Zanza Tours Australia put together a perfect day in the Blue Mountains. The food, sights, animals and spiritual experience with the Aboriginal guide through the rainforest are lifetime memories. Leave the busy city and enjoy the beauty of the land. Small group, tailored tour to what we wanted. Everything excellent. Ate at quaint pie restaurant. Abinoriginal experience was educational with very good presenter.
Monique_R, Nov 2024
The whole excursion was fantastic!! Menaske went above and beyond to make our adventure awesome! We saw so much more than other folks would have - Yamandirra provided so much aboriginal cultural information!! From the food to the Olympic park drive thru to the Blue Mountains and the 3 sisters (and the true story) to the featherstone wildlife we had an amazing day!
Deborah_C, Oct 2024
Amazing tour, no hurry, but we enjoyed everything plus a stop that wasn’t on the schedule (Olympic Park) and took photos. The tea and scones were excellent. The pie for lunch were delicious. And most importantly our guides were both fantastic. It’s obvious that Manashe has embraced the culture of Australia and he has a wealth of knowledge. He kept the drive interesting and the time flew by. Yamandirra is so wonderful, explaining the real Australian Aboriginal lives. We were so grateful for his hospitality and cultural sharing. Our walk was so informative and we enjoyed learning about medical plants along the way❤️💕💕❤️
Ulrike_E, Apr 2024
I was glad I booked the tour with the Aboriginal Experience instead of one of the usual ones that use the cable car one. While you have to be somewhat fit to participate in this one (lots of stairs up and down) it gives a lot more insight. Our amazing Aboriginal guide gave great information on his culture, the relationship with nature and other things. He showed us some edible plants and educated us on their usage in healing. We saw waterfalls, amazing rock formations and animals you would not see when using the cable car excursion. After the Blue Mountains and lunch, which was included in the price, we went to a nature center where we could see kangaroos, koalas, penguins and other native animals up close and even pet some. Our driver/guide also gave great information and made sure we were all well taken care of.

Excellent guides highly recommend the aborigini experience very educational and moving. Well worth the early morning pickup stop at DOLLY'S donuts for snack
Terry_D, Nov 2023
We had the two nicest, most knowledgeable and accomodating guides. Everything was well planned. We were given plenty of time and it seemed everything was just for us.
Edward_S, Sep 2023
Our guide was amazing!!! Amy made every moment a Fantastic Adventure!!! She was very personable and was absolutely amazing in every way!!
Sandra_M, Aug 2023
The trip was fantastic from start to finish. The owner/driver picked us up and headed out of town shortly after picking up the last group. He provided us with a great narration as we drove. If we were stopping for food, he would take our orders ahead of time so when we made the stop, food was ready. We stopped for hot, freshly made doughnuts with something to drink, about an hour into the trip. The next stop was with a wonderful gentleman who shared his culture with us. He began with a welcoming ceremony and then we were off on a walk to learn more about aboriginal ways, foods, and so much more. The tour guide even moved lunch a half hour later so we wouldn’t be rushed. A nice stop for lunch and then we were off to a wildlife park filled with Australian animals. For me, the stop there was not long enough. And then, we were headed home after a quick snack of popcicles. On the way back, he passed out, little koala bears.
Although, the trip was a bit more expensive than the others, it was the only one with a cultural component and well worth it. I highly recommend the trip to anyone because it was awesome.
Response from Host, Aug 2023

This was a first class day.
I would have thought it was a great value at twice the cost.
Blue Mountain & Animal Park & River/Harbor boat ride back to Sydney.

Beautiful views of blue mountains. Aboriginal guide was very knowledgeable but was with us for too short a time. Expected more of an "Aboriginal Experience"
Mitzi_M, Jun 2019
Guides were great! I only wish it would have included more Aborigines, their village, their culture, hunting, etc.

Great tour. Tour guide was excellent especially discussing the history and traditions of the native peoples.
Jose_G, Apr 2018
First, let me thank Menashe for an excellent tour and for being super awesome and for waiting on me sorry I was late .
The tour started perfectly in the early morning you need time to drive out and the seeing the scenery was amazing.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention our Blue Mountains tour guide Yamandirra who not only took the time to show us the array of
vegetation and wildlife that exists out in the rain forest, but he also took the time to explain the Aboriginal connection to the area and
what it means. The beauty is beyond words and can only be understood if you visit this stunning place.
Thanks so much for everything and for making this experience such a memorable one.
