- A moderate amount of walking is involved covering approx. 1.2 miles (2km) at the pace of the group’s participants
- Small groups (no more than 20 people)
- Tour encompasses uneven surfaces, cobblestones, worn sandstone flagging stairs and steps; while these elements of the tour have never been considered to be strenuous by most people, for others this may be considered as an unsuitable activity.
- Comfortable walking shoes, hat and a bottle of water suggested
- Operates in all weather conditions, please dress to the predicted weather conditions appropriate for an outdoor activity
- Children and Infants must be accompanied by an adult
- Meeting point is easily accessible on foot for cruise arrivals/ shore excursions

I have done this tour twice now in the last 18 months and rated it highly both times. The tour is a good length (not too long or short) and the guides tell a good story about how and why Sydney was settled. Very informative and a great way to start your stay when visiting.

Vickie was a knowledgeable and thorough tour guide! The tour was leisurely and gave a person unfamiliar with Australian/Sydney history a good overview. The tour is 90 minutes but doesn't involve a lot of stairs or long walking periods. They also provide you with an earbud and whispertone transmitter so you can hear her regardless of your proximity/street noise. The tour ends and begins at the same location, The Rocks Walking Tour office. There is an excellent French cafe located directly behind it.

We did the Sydney Rocks walking tour as a family of four (with our 13 and 10-year-old), and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip.
Our guide, George, was excellent. He was passionate, engaging, and made the stories of The Rocks really come alive in a way that kept both adults and kids interested throughout. What stood out most was how thoughtfully he addressed the history — not just the colonial narrative, but also the very real and ongoing impact on Aboriginal Australians. It added important depth and perspective to the tour.
George also recommended some great resources for further reading, which we appreciated.

A terrific way to learn the history of Sydney, when it was founded, by whom, and how. Provides a good perspective as you walk around the Rocks District and view the different buildings and streets. Our guide was a skilled storyteller and very knowledgeable. He showed us sights and places that we probably would not have come by on our own.
