Itinerary

Your private excursion commences in the early morning, when you’ll board an air-conditioned vehicle at your Seville accommodation. During the 2.5-hour journey, your guide provides history- and culture-rich commentary relating to the UNESCO-listed Alhambra fortress.

On arrival at the hilltop perch of Alhambra, you’ll embark on a guided tour that reveals the architectural highlights of the palatial complex: absorb spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains from the Alcazaba Fortress; marvel at the opulence of the Nasrid Palaces; and admire the botanical beauty of the Generalife Gardens.

Then, you’ll have free time to explore Granada’s historic center, home to the Plaza and Mirador de San Nicolas and Granada’s cathedral.

Finally, at a time pre-arranged with your guide, return to the vehicle and relax during the journey back to your Seville accommodation.

The Alhambra guided tour will be in the language chosen but the driver for your private transfer speaks just Spanish and English

Great tour of palaces and gardens, logistics not as described

We booked the private tour for 9 people- the palaces, gardens, and free time to explore the Albayzin area. Original pick up was at 7:00 am, as requested, we called the day before to confirm pick up location and were advised the pickup time changed to 9:00 am. When we arrived we were told our tour time was not for another 1 1/2 hours, and they had a table for us to purchase lunch. The driver had just stopped an hour before so we could purchase breakfast, so lunch was not part of the original plan. After that the tour of the palaces and gardens was great. Our guide was excellent and went at a good pace for our group, the tour itself was 5 star. After the tour our guide contacted the driver for our return trip to Seville, due to the change in pick up and tour time, we were not given the free time to explore the Albayzin which was a disappointment as my niece had studied in Granada in college and wanted to show us the area. Overall the tour of the Al Alhambra was great and highly recommended, unfortunately the timing and logistics were not as expected.

Our guide did an amazing job his knowledge was very well presented to us and we where very relaxed during the tour. His pace was well suited for the four of us at no time did we feel rushed. I would recommend spending the extra money for a private tour.

We had the most incredible guide named Fernando. His English was perfect and he was super knowledgeable. His excitement to share the beauty of the Alhambra made the experience so enjoyable. Our driver, Miguel, was a courteous and safe driver who made us so comfortable. Highly recommended!

Alhambra without the best part

The guides were outstanding. However, we were told an hour before departure that we did NOT have tickets to the indoor area of Alhambra despite this being part of our purchased package. There was a “computer problem”. This was to be one of the highlights of our trips so this was an incredible disappointment to us. We traveled 1000s of miles to see this. We were given a tour of the outdoor areas but it is not the same. Be warned that this is apparently not an unusual problem with Alhambra tickets purchased via tour companies. I would get tickets from Alhambra directly.

The logistics were not as described...

The logistics were not as described. We confirmed the arrangements and that our day would be in English. We were picked up in the early morning by a gentleman who spoke no English and we had great difficulty discerning that he would drive us to the Alhambra where an actual guide would take over. Because it was 6am, we couldn't call the office to seek information/translation. This also meant that we couldn't ask the driver to stop, on a 3-hour drive, for a restroom break. The tour guide spoke English which was a relief and visiting the Alhambra was amazing. When we were finished, the tour guide called the driver to come pick us up and take us to Granada for lunch. He didn't know the city of Granada and dropped us off in an area that had no restaurants that were open. We grabbed snacks out of a bar which was very disappointing. Not sure I would do a private tour with Viator again.
