Itinerary
After Rovaniemi hotel pickup, travel by air-conditioned vehicle to Ranua Zoo, a wildlife park with around 50 species of Finland’s indigenous animals.
Enjoy the countryside views on route, and hear about Finland's nature and wildlife from your guide. Then, after roughly an hour, arrive at Ranua and head inside. Home to about 200 animals, the zoo is set in a forest, ensuring the animals live in an authentic environment as possible.
Follow the 1.5 miles (2.5 kilometers) of forest trails and admire the animals and birds, including reindeer, bears, lynx, wolves, owls, and more, all native to the northern latitudes. Be sure to view the star attraction — Finland's only polar bears. In the summer, the zoo also boasts a domestic animal park in the grounds.
Be sure to wear adequate clothing as the zoo is outdoors, and, If you’re visiting with small children, trollies and sleds are available if they get tired of walking.
Afterward, perhaps visit the restaurant and souvenir shops, including the Fazer candy store and wine emporium, home to wines made from local ingredients like wild cloudberries and bilberries.
Then, travel back to Rovaniemi, where your tour ends with a hotel drop-off.

The description of the tour stated that we would have a driver AND a professional guide. We did not have a professional guide. Our driver, while very lovely and friendly, brought us to the zoo, gave us our wristbands, told us the polar bears were being fed at 11am so we should hurry straight to see that, and then told us to meet her back at the bus at 2pm. There was no guide of any sort around the zoo as promised We were also told the tour starts at 9am, but the bus did not collect us until 9 30am, and it also did not collect us at the place we stipulated, instead told us to go to a different hotel.
We did not reach the zoo until 10.45am, and given that we were told the bus back to the city was at 2pm, this left us with 2 hours and 15 minutes to run around the zoo and go and joing the very long line to get lunch in the buffet. It was not enough time at all. We did not get to see half of the animals as we had to rush past them to see the Polar bears and did not have enough time to go back as the bus was leaving. Considering it cost €400 for a family of 4, I do not feel it was good value for money as everything was so rushed and we did not have the professional guide promised in the advertisement. A bit disappointing to be honest. The only real highlight was getting to see the Polar bear being fed and so active.

Dear Naomi, sorry, but your information is incorrect, I check the DPS treker of the car and it shows, your program start at 9.30 from City hotel (this pisk up place you chose yourselve) and where in zoo at 10.45, your transfer back start at 13.40 and you where back to the city at 15.10. In zoo you where 3 hours, this is our normal program. And for group program our guide not commisng with a clients in zoo, he or she will give all information about timetable, tickets and give the map of zoo. With best regards, Elena
We gone there for the polar bear. There is no sight of them. the brown bear are having a winter sleep! Most animal are inactive during the period we visit in December. May be the operator should mention this. Our party of 6 were disappointed with the lack of animal to see.

There was no commentaries on the tour, we were squeezed into a little minivan, we had to use an app when we got there which caused me to slip on the ice because my hands were not free to hold on to anything and we realised we could have taken a bus there ourselves and would have more time to see the zoo. Time for shopping later was too long, should have been an option for us to choose.
