Visiting Buzios is a must! My husband and I enjoyed our visit via a tour headed by our guide Christina. She was friendly, professional and more than accomodating to all her guests throughout our trip. The boat excursion was amazing! We enjoyed snorkeling, swimming, samba dancing and slide on the boat which shoots you into the ocean! The lunch provided was amazing with many options. It was a great day ending with a beautiful sunset on the beach.
Thank you Christina!

This was terrible. The communication with people the boat was unprofessional. My group was told that we had to purchase extra scuba gear after we were on the boat and was too late. The DJ rarely translated what he was saying. They nickle and dime you for everything on the boat. Dont waste your time or money.

The three hour bus ride each was was a bit tedious. The boat ride was excellent. We stopped sveral times for swimming & snorkeling. After the boat ride we had a good buffet late lunch. This left just enough time to find the Brigit Bardot statue.

Let me start by clarifying that Buzios itself was 5 star, but the organization of this tour was terrible. Firstly the tour bus broke down 15 minutes after pick up, and took more than an hour to fix. Then the guide decided to get another bus anyway.
But, the guide Hugo, was not communicative, did not tell us what was going on and only spoke Spanish. Every time he made an announcement during the trip, we had to ask him to translate to English. After all that, Buzios was scenic, with beautiful warm waters, although the beach itself is small.

Not worth it too long, the trip is NOT 2 hours each way like they said. Picked up at 7am from hotel and spent 1 hour picking people up in a big tour bus. Then the actual trip was 4 hours. We arrived at Buzios past 12 and had lunch at an average place. The tour guide only said 2 sentences in the whole trip, did not explain anything or provide info about the place. The boat ride has horrible, ugly old boat, very crowded, not enough seats for everyboy or life jackets, it was more of a loud party boat than a cruze. Captain sailed the boat, while yelling through speakers entertaining the party, and Djing all at the same time. Then they left us at the main plaza in Buzios to walk around. Tour guide did not suggest anything to see or where to walk he said nothing. Buzios is an ok kind of hippie town with stores and restaurants but not much to see. Not worth the trip for me, would not recommend this tour.

This was great but we found since our translator spoke 3-4 languages on the tour he didn't say much in English but overall it was a great experience.

I really enjoyed this trip. We had a lot of fun on the boat drinking caiprinhas and dancing. The sea was very rough in the spots we stopped to swim and while it may have just been the weather on the day I chose, it wasn't very safe. One of the crew was an amazing swimmer and had no problem rescuing people that drifted out, but I did think they should've stopped people swimming it was so strong. Buzios is beautiful and makes a nice change from being in the city centre - it's well worth a visit. There was quite a bit of waiting around to board the boat after a long bus journey, but it was worth it nevertheless.

Missed hotel breakfast due to scheduled pick up time, then coach over 40 minutes late. Picked up by one coach to be taken to another then spent further hour driving round Rio picking up other passengers. Guide gave no information on either places passed on journey to Buzios or Buzios itself. Had booked the trip that included a walking tour of Buzios but told the one we were on included a boat trip for the beaches, we had no swimwear/towels, but, the guide wasn't bothered. Only found this out some 2hours into the journey. On arrival in Buzios refused to go on boat trip and agreed to meet guide later, found Buzios to be nice with cobbled streets, decent shops and lovely cafes/bars to stop off at, it also had many restaurants that caters for all people's needs, so in itself is worth visiting. For those booking the boat trip need to be aware that it took our fellow passengers 50 minutes to board the boat after arrival in Buzios, so in total just over 4 hours after leaving Rio. The return coach journey took just over 4 hours due to traffic in Buzios. Be prepared for a long day with 7 hours of coach travel and a very little information.

We had a wonderful time in Buzios. The bus picked us up in front of a hotel and the ride from Rio to Buzios took about 2 1/2 hours. The tour guide was great and gave us lots of information, which made us fully enjoy the trip. At Buzios we chose the option to go to one of the beaches instead of on a boat tour since we stayed only one day going back and forth. It probably makes sense to stay at least 2 days if you want to enjoy both the beach and the boat tour. We were taken to a nice restaurant for an excellent buffet. All in all, thumbs up!

I was very disappointed with my experience during this trip. In my trip, the entire group spoke Spanish and Portugese and I was the only one who spoke english. I felt like a burden for the guide who was translating. Furthermore, the trip itself isn't worth it. There are better beaches and swimming spots in RIo or near Rio for the amount of time offered. The experience itself was terrible/ On the boat in Buzios, none of the crew spoke any english and I was generally just left alone. Terrible waste of the day

Worth doing. The boat ride around is a must, that will take approx 2 hrs then you should have a good hr to walk around the small city sqare. Not much shopping here but good food.
Our guide was only ok, his english was not goid and he really couldnt be bothered to make any effort. The buffet lunch was nice.

Good trip, however the cruise was conducted in Portuguese so had no idea what was being said, I booked an English speaking trip so was expecting this to be translated.

This tour is really just transport to Buzios instead of an actual tour. The trip to Buzios is worth it though, however there were a few issues with this trip:
tour guide only spoke English when asked
it took 4 hours to get there and 4 hours back, instead of the advertised 2 hours
the bus' gearbox would not work so we waited 30mins on the way to Buzios until all of the tour passengers pushed the bus to get it going again
the tour guide did not provide any information, history or recommendations on the town
the tour guide was dropped off before all of the tour passengers at 10pm
We did not take the optional boat tour and instead caught a water taxi to a nearby beach which was great! Overall if your are stuck with options to see Buzios in a shor time period then this trip is fine, however we were not pleased with the guide or what was provided.

Buzios is a beautiful place I definitely recommend visiting, but I don´t recommend this tour.
The pick up from our hotel was late.Once we were finally on our way unfortunately our guide was taken ill, this resulted in us having to stop and wait for an ambulance-truly traumatic for the guide, and we were glad to learn she was ok. However during this process there was no communication from the driver,or an apology from the replacement guide. It took us 5 hours to get to Buzios.
The replacement "guide" Isaac Jorge is what I can only describe as incompetent. On arrival we were all ushered to the boat, we had not booked a boat tour as we wanted to spend time walking in Buzios and relaxing. As such we questioned this with Isaac, who said it was included in what we had paid (having looked at our booking) and then walked everyone to the boat.No other option was given.
The boat was the most ridiculous thing I have ever experienced. The whole thing was focussed on pushing photographs and making money from over-priced drinks, or small boats which came to our boat to try to sell things. Worth noting for any English speakers, no one on the boat speaks English.
The boat lasted about 2 hrs, once we finally got back to land our "guide" informed us he had a problem and that we needed to give him extra cash to cover the cost of the boat.We advised we hadn't budgeted for this and were confused as he said the cost was included and weren't given another option. He walked off and we went for lunch which is included, which was mediocre at best.During lunch, when we were eating, we were further pushed to buy pictures from the boat.
After lunch as we were leaving the "guide" approached us again about the boat cost.We offered to pay the money to the website on our return, but he said this was no good he had to have cash right now. When he realised we could not give cash, he clapped, said ´well done´and then walked off.
No tour of the town was given. No translation into English given on the journey back.

The trip was very enjoyable - Isaac was a great guide. The bus was very luxurious and comfortable, and the trip to and from Buzios was relaxing. When we got there, we went straight out on the boat trip. The boat trip was too long (2 hours 15 minutes) for what it was (we didn't go very far) - we stopped 3 times, each time for 15-20 minutes for people to swim. One stop would have been enough, and the trip could have been cut to no more than 90 minutes. But it was still worthwhile. Buzios was lovely - but we only had 75 minutes to walk around. As previously mentioned, the boat trip should be shortened, leaving more time to see Buzios. Still, overall a great trip!!

Had a great tour, definitely worth it. We opted for the option with the cruise- which was the best part of the trip. Buzios is a really cute town and I enjoyed the visit. We drove to Buzios from Rio (about 2 hours), then had some free time in the town (about 30 minutes), got on the boat and toured around the island. There was music playing, caipirinhas being made, you could jump off the boat to swim, and lots of fun people on the boat! Then once back in town we had time for lunch, and went to a great restaurant. Beware though- whatever you don't eat there we had to pay for- the message was in Portuguese and we didn't know.
The only negative was that it took a long time in the morning to do the pick ups from all of the hotels. We were supposed to be picked up at 7am but no one showed up til 7:35, and then we had to to pick ups until around 9ish.

Travel time is 3 hours not 2. Too long for a day trip in an uncomfortable bus with a loud and abrupt guide. We did not take the boat trip option, but wanted to spend our time on the "beautiful beaches". Really there were only a harbour in walking distance and the water was so dirty you couldn't pay me to swim. Quaint little town and maybe a nice resort for locals but not an international tourist destination. If you go take the boat trip or rent a taxi on the square just off the jetty to take you to a descent beach.
Jennifer J, Oct 2013
Originally this tour was going to canceled because they did not have enough people when I called to confirm. They told me to call the next day and they teamed us up with another group. No walking tour. But we did get to go to Buzio's, which was beautiful. Did our own thing there.
Heather G, Nov 2012
Wonderful Day Trip! Would do it again in a heartbeat.
ALEXANDRA M, Apr 2012
Buzios was amazing definitely go see it. But it was suppose to take about 2hours to get there and instead it took 4 hours. Wish we could've spent more time there. Also tour guide asks if you want to stop at a t-shirt shop on your way say "NO" trust me not worth the waste of time.
KATTY M, Nov 2011
There was a delay to pick us up in the morning, so we arrived to Buzios one hour later. The guide was ok. It is more a transfer service than a tour per se. The trip by boat is not included.
Jason M, Aug 2011
We didn't get to go to Buzios and were disappointed by that. But the trip to Sepetiba Bay did turn out nice.
Karol- SweetBliss022, Feb 2010
This was a great trip out to Buzios. The service was good from the hotel pickup to the drop off. In Buzios, we were on our own to sightsee and take a tour of about 12 islands. I will use the services of this tour operator again when I return to Rio de Janeiro.
Ariel V, Feb 2010
Of the six tours I did in Rio, this is the one I enjoyed the most.
Lindsay M, Oct 2008
AWESOME! I wish they told us to bring out swim suits as a boat tour was optional.
MnicaVanessa_H, Jul 2019
Recomiendo la excursión. Quien tiene deseos de vivir cada momento también disfrutará el viaje en bus. Bello Buzios..también en invierno.
Emmanuelle V, May 2015
Julie L, May 2015
