Just not that interesting

Jacob_H, Mar 2026
The tour was generic and you can experience the same thing (minus one room) for free by just walking in and doing a little googling. At check in the tour guide asked me where I was from and as I was answering he literally just walked away to speak to another party. He was so uninterested in my response to his own question. I wouldn’t waste your money. Go to the citadel instead because at least there you can get a good view.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Bonjour! We are sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations! The second floor and reception rooms of the Château Frontenac are not accessible for guests that are not staying at the hotel. Ww hope that you enjoyed your time in Old Quebec!

Awesome experience! Must do!

It was a wonderful tour. We got to see an inside view and hear about the history of the building and the people who visited. It’s a great 1-hour tour!

Randy_m, Jan 2026
The guide was excellent informative and entertaining but we didn't see much of the hotel. It would have nice to see the rose room and other ball rooms. What we saw we could have done on our own. The guide provided alot of interesting historical information in a entertaining and informative manner. She was fantastic but didn't show us alot of the hotel.

Worth your time

Joseph_S, Jan 2026
Light, informative and very accessible, our guide put us in the time of the building, events and purpose of the chateau.

A wonderful way to learn a little history of the hotel and Old Quebec

Charlene_J, Jan 2026
Our guide was very informative and engaging. It was VERY cold before our tour, so thankfully he moved us in to the lobby quickly instead of spending too much time outdoors looking at the architecture.

Great tour with opportunities to see normally off limits areas. History of the chateau surprisingly interesting.

Great family experience

Tatiana_P, Dec 2025
Great experience and very nice guide we had, the sister of Sarah Bernard. A very nice guided visit, 10 minutes outside and the rest inside. It was awesome. Thank you!

Interesting tour but could be planned better

Carey_S, Dec 2025
Tour in the winter should not begin outside The same material can be covered doing the tour in reverse. It is too cold for everyone to wait outside. We were told that the tour started at 1pm so we arrived at 1pm and the guide was annoyed as well others as they had to wait in the cold. If you need people to be 10 minutes earlier than the start time then your company must inform them of that unless it’s stated as an expectation you cannot expect it to happen we did not appreciate being scolded by the tour guide for being on time SS his expectation was that everyone arrives 10 minutes earlier but that expectation is not relayed to the client. I can’t blame everyone for being miserable to be standing in the cold for 10 minutes and the tour could be adjusted in the wi tee to find a place to start that is not outside.. The tour was very thorough and the tour guide was knowledgeable It was interesting

The tour was fun and informative, our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the hotel and had a sense of humor!

Christmas Fun for a Rainy Day

Cheryl_F, Dec 2025
We were running a bit late and let them know 20 mins before the start and the tour provider responded quickly and then allows us to meet in the lobby a bit into the tour without holding up the group. Very communicative and accommodating. We got to see all sorts of things inside the hotel, it was very cool to see the restaurant and salons and ballrooms all decorated for Christmas but without a crowd of people. It was a rainy day, so we all enjoyed the history and the sights inside.

Great way to see and experience the chateau

Lynette_S, Dec 2025
Really interesting and fast moving tour. We booked last minute for same day and were so glad we took the time and the tour. We learned a lot!

Great way to learn more...

Jessyca_H, Dec 2025
Great way to learn more about the Chateau and the history of Quebec City. Be aware if older or have mobility issues that you will need to climb several flights of stairs (but there's cool stuff there). Probably not the activity for young children.

Beautiful hotel

cleekjunk, Dec 2025
Pro: Fun info on hotel and history. Con: Guide’s voice was too soft to be heard. Group was too large given how busy the hotel was.

See Hidden Gems & Learn A Lot of History

Nancy_C, Dec 2025
Absolutely fantastic tour! Saw hidden gems of the city & learned lots of history along the way! Luis/Louse was a wonderful tour guide. He was very knowable, had a great sense of humor and was very patient with our group (who wanted to take lots of pictures). I highly recommend this tour!

Loved The Hotel Tour

A Step Back in Time

Harold_W, Dec 2025
A great tour experience. Thomas presented lots of historical information, anecdotes, and other facts about Le Chateau Frontenac. He made the tour enjoyable and fun.

Nice visit

JOANNE_R, Dec 2025
Big group size and even though they split us into two groups it was hard to hear the guide. Inside the hotel was noisy and missed the majority of what she said.

Enjoy an hour long historical tour

Pam_Y, Nov 2025
Met group of @40 in the boardwalk outside 1884 coffee shop in front of the Chateau de Frontenac facing the river. Two costumed tour guides split the group into 2. He was the man who the chateau was named after and gave lots of history outside with picture book and took us around inside with great historical commentary. Very nice tour-I love history. My companion and I both thought it was great.

Tour of Chateau Frontenac

Barb_R, Nov 2025
Excellent tour guide, Captain , real name Kevin had an engaging presence and sense of humor. Guided our group of 15 through many rooms. We learned a lot about the construction and special dignitaries who came through.

The guide was 5, but what...

Lynette_Z, Nov 2025
The guide was 5, but what he was permitted to show us very disappointing. I thought it would be more behind the scenes.

A must-do in Old Quebec

Erin_M, Nov 2025
The hour-long Chateau Frontenac tour is a must-do when visiting Old Quebec. Our tour guide, Bernie, provided historical information in a compelling and humorous way. What a treat!

Joshua_P, Nov 2025
It was amazing! We learned so much about the hotel and it was nice to put ourselves into the history of the city

Fun, historical tour

Ellen_J, Nov 2025
Fun, historical tour focused on the Chateau Frontenac. Starts outdoors but then moves indoors (which is great when it's really cold!). Little known facts and access to areas within the hotel.

Not what was expected

Melissa_S, Nov 2025
Mostly storytelling, all we did was go up to the third floor of the hotel and look how it was built in different levels. Not much to this tour.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Bonjour! We are sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations! The Château Frontenac being an operating hotel, some of the reception rooms can be unavailable during the tours due to events taking place. We hope that you had a great time with your guide!

Stunning Building

Mark_E, Nov 2025
An interesting and informative guided tour of the hotel. You tour the main areas of the hotel and get to see one of the rooms as well. The guide provided plenty of facts regarding the hotel and its history!

It’s a tour of a hotel...

Erika_M, Nov 2025
It’s a tour of a hotel not a castle, but interesting and informative. Our guide was very good, knowledgeable and entertaining
