Tour guide was very informative, ex school teacher, but gave too many minute details about each topic instead of providing more information overall, about Quebec City. There were other guides heading out at the same time. Maybe a different experience with a different guide.
The tour is well organized so that most of the walking is on level ground or downhill. However, it does end in the lower town which requires a funicular ride (cash only, CAD; ATM on site charges almost $9 CAD fee), a walk up a lot of stairs, or an Uber/taxi ride to the upper town. I don't know if there is public transit.
Our guide, Carmen, is a high school history teacher and offered a concise, animated account of the city's history. She was delighted to answer questions and offered a warm welcome to out-of-town visitors.
Our tour guide was a HS history teacher -- she was incredible. While we could have seen the sights without her, we would not have acquired the history behind the architecture and the existence of Quebec on our own. You will have to visit before or after to go into the Basilica (worth visiting).
Phil was extremely thorough and friendly throughout the 2+ hour tour. He really knew the history of Quebec quite well.
We had a great day with our guide, Mark Lepitre. Mark has a wealth of historical information and delivers it in a manner that engages everyone.
Easy walking tour of the main sites of Old Quebec finishing in low town. Helene was very informative but she was difficult to hear at times because of big cycle race with overhead helicopters etc. Also many more people around, with difficulty crossing some streets. If we had been pre-warned about race we would have chosen a different day for tour.
I learned so much through the tour. I think it is the best way to start my journey in Old Quebec City. You can learn how the city was established and discover great spots for photography and restaurants.
Great insight into the history of Quebec. Louise provided us with lots of interesting stories of a Quebec. A delightful walking tour of the Old town.
Great way to start your Quebec City trip. Our guide was exceptional and gave us great advice on how to get a complete Quebec City experience. Go to Montcalm and Avenue Cartier.
This walking tour was very informative and a great way to learn more about the history of the city and Canada. It was an easy walk, too.
Great way to see the main sights of Quebec City, learn about its history and other parts of the province.
Marie was a fabulous guide, very informative and enthusiastic. We learned all about Quebec's history, and ventured into the beautiful lower town area at the end. A really good tour to give background to your time in Quebec City.
Maurice was extraordinary. Enthusiastic, funny, and knowledgeable. Learned alot about Quebec City and enjoyed every minute!
Mark was a great guide. Knowledgeable and funny. He took questions and kept us out of the wind. We enjoyed it.
Wow! What a reasonable and great way to see historic Quebec in one day!! We so enjoyed our tour guide Annabelle…. She was animated, energetic and entertaining! Highly recommend and loved our tour guide!
Two and a half stars. Don’t know if it was the tour guide or the tour itself, but it was very dry. A lot of detail, in-depth facts and dates and not enough humor or anecdotes to make it interesting. Would have liked more stories about what life was like for the people who lived in those early years and anecdotes about some of the residents, not necessarily just who the leaders were and why they deserve a statue. Did we really need to spend more than five minutes at a monolith monument getting minor details of why it had been erected including the Latin translation? The tour felt like a 2 1/2 hour lecture in a college history class. We got some information that was interesting, but mostly it was an overload of facts and not very enjoyable.

Thank you for your detailed feedback. We're sorry the tour felt too academic for your taste. History is at the heart of this particular tour, and the monument you mention commemorates one of the most significant battles in North American history, so spending time explaining its meaning and context is important. For guests looking for more anecdotes, local stories and everyday life in Québec, we also offer Voilà Québec, a tour designed specifically around those themes. We appreciate your comments and understand that different styles of tours appeal to different travelers.
Very knowledgable your guide, Louisa. Great overview of the history of the city and introduction to main parts of this beautiful city? Thank you!

The guide was very knowledgeable about everything we saw and Quebec history and its complex connectedness to other parts of the world. We learned things about North American History that we didn’t know!
Our tour operator was Chantal Pelletier.
We have been in Old Town many time but experience with Chantal was outstanding. She melted with our group and explained everything with knowledge and passion. She is very proud from her heritage as loco from Quebec.
We highly recommend her to anyone that loves history.
