We did this tour with Tomas last week. It was just the two of us on the tour and we got to spend about 2 1/2 hrs with Tomas. It was the best tour we have ever been on. Tomas is a very interesting, intelligent and articulate person. Tomas began by giving us a brief history of Czechia up to 1930's and WW2. While walking around Prague (and very quickly getting away from the very large tourist gatherings) Tomas delivered a really interesting history from WW2 to date, covering the end of the war, arrival of the Soviets, crushing of democracy and imposition of communism, prague spring in '68, brezhnez docterine of the 70s and the gradual unravelling communism and on to the present day. The tour was a fascinating blend of politics, history, his personal family backround and a real insight into life in Prague in the 70's onwards. Tomas was really engaging, a very nice bloke and we even found time to go for coffee, and later a beer (delicious!). I would highly recommend this tour. It was a definite highlight of our trip. Unique experience. Our guide had been a student demonstrator during the Velvet Revolution so we had a gripping, first-hand account of the events of 1989.

PRAGUE IS OPEN! IF YOU CAN - GO NOW!!! Low crowds and the dollar goes a long way!
Martin was a great tour guide and shared a tremendous amount of information that I was unfamiliar with.
Though I’ve a general understanding of the unfortunate agreement reached at the end of WWII that resulted in Czech’s being absorbed into the Soviet sphere; Martin’s information on WWII and the Communist era was far deeper than what I’ve read or learned previously.
Martin met us at our hotel and we set off from there.
The walk from near to the Palace across the river into the new city was all very walkable and manageable for us.
The scenery along the way is great to capture and Martin accommodated all of this including taking pictures for us.
Martin also shared some personal history under communist times which was interesting to talk about common childhood experiences (He and my wife both experienced Atomic drills in primary school) along with other stories of living “behind the iron curtain” but directly from a Czech perspective.
At the end of the tour - Martin gave us recommendations on eating (Local - great beer and local food) along with other “must see” things in the city.
We very much recommend the tour and want to thank Martin for the great experience.

This tour ended up being private which was great. Our tour guide was a local and was extremely smart and informative. It was definitely a great experience and she offered us advice of what to do after the tour too!

Being interested in history, the tour really appealed to me. On the walking tour we learned more about the invasion during WWII and the communist occupation of Prague after the war. Our guide was very well versed in this history.

We were with a young college student. He was very well informed and could answer our questions with ease. He had a very mature personality.

Our tour guide Maria was excellent she was very knowledgeable about the era and really knew her history. Maria took us to areas that no other tours did so it allowed us to see different parts of Prague. Although our tour was supposed to be just 2 hours Maria extended it to over 3 hours as she was available and knew we were interested. I would highly recommend this tour and suggest that people visit the Museum of Communism which was also terrific.

It was really great. We were the only people for the tour and altho the guide looked really young he was very interesting, his english was excellent and he answered all our questions in the nicest way. he knew a lot and it was our best visit during our 3 days there. Weldone to him.

It was lovely to chat with a local about things and for him to answer our questions but we didn't learn anything much about WW2 that we didn't already know. Friends have done a different tour and were taken to the tunnels etc and the hideouts of the parachutists. We could have learnt as much with a free city tour as we did on this tour. We just breezed past the Jewish Quarter with very little explanation when this was what I was most interested in. Very disappointing

We were the only two people on this tour... and we enjoyed every minute of the tour! Our guide was knowledgeable, informative and passionate about her hopes for a brighter future for the Czech Republic. Wear comfortable shoes- its a lot of walking.
Jeremy B, Oct 2017
This tour was a more intimate look at Prague's history. Our guide was really accommodating, having purchased our tickets for the tram and always answering any questions we had. We both learnt a lot about Prague and Czech culture and really went all over the city- which by the way, is astonishing stunning.
Well done and thanks so much!

Dominick our guide was very informative. We saw places, plaques and monuments to WWII and communism we would have over looked. I took this tour with my brother who knows his history and Dominick was up to the challenge. If you are in Prague and have a morning to spare this is a great tour. It focuses on different aspect of Czechoslovakia then a visit to the Prague castle does. I highly recommend this.

The tour begins at Charles Square, continues to the Vitkov memorial and concludes at Wenceslas Square. This is a fascinating tour, full of analysis and stories that you simply cannot get from the history books. The tour was chronological and had clear themes that were tied together at the end when discussing the role of the EU in Czech history. The tour guide was brilliant, informative, clear and insightful. Great tour.

Our guide was wonderful. We ran over at least 15 minutes. He loved questions and the discussion that followed. So surprised that there was just the 2 of us. History buffs are missing out!

Anita_V, Feb 2026
We have had a highly recommended tour from guide Martin. At home we had seen the film Anthropoid about the 2nd World War which takes place in Prague. That story will recur in the tour. Martin spoke good English and there were two of us so we could ask all the questions.

It’s wonderful to hear you had such a great experience with Martin!
Watching the film Anthropoid beforehand was a brilliant move—it really makes the history feel alive when you’re standing right where it happened. We’re so glad Martin was able to dive deep into those stories with you and that the small group size gave you plenty of space for all your questions. We’ll be sure to pass your praise along to him!
