Itinerary

Depart Prague by air-conditioned coach and make the journey into the pretty Bohemian countryside. As you travel, listen as your guide tells you about the spa town of Karlovy Vary, sometimes called Karlsbad or Carlsbad.

Hear how this Bohemian town grew up around some natural springs, said to have been discovered by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles—or Karl IV—in 1358. Hear how the town took the emperor’s name and how, in the 1800s, it attracted figures such as Ludwig van Beethoven, who came here for the reputedly curative waters.

Drive through the lush forests that surround Karlovy Vary and visit the town’s Moser Glass Factory. Learn about the company’s products, favored by Europe’s ruling elite during the 19th and early 20th centuries, and still one of the world’s most prestigious brands of crystal glassware. See the skilled glassblowers at work and, if you wish, buy some of the exquisite crystal at the factory gift shop.

Continue into Karlovy’s stately center and stroll around the graceful spa colonnades and fountains. Sample some of the water and taste the town’s famous wafers, circular cracker-style treats smeared with chocolate, vanilla, and other moreish coatings (own expense).

Enjoy the included lunch at a restaurant and try some Becherovka (own expense), a traditional herbal liqueur that’s synonymous with the town. Savor the gingery cinnamon-flavored tipple as you hear how it’s made according to a secret recipe using Karlovy Vary’s soft water.

Your trip ends back at the original start point in Prague.

Moser Factory Visit wasa bit boring as all we did was watching a video and browse the glass cabinet of glasses. Should consider cutting this to give more free time to browse around the beautiful town of Karlovy Vary. Lunch included in tour was delicious with choices of main course.

Not so great.

Debra_R, May 2025
Was a somewhat disappointing experience. Most of the tour time was spent getting to the location. It was 2 hours each way. We only stopped for a restroom break - no time for a snack and we were vary curtly informed by the driver that no food or drinks were allowed on board the van. Glass tour was mostly watching a film. Lunch was OK. But what I really wanted to see was Karlovy Vary and we only had about 1.5 hours there. If you. really want to see Karlovy Vary consider renting a car and driving there.

Beautiful town to visit in Springtime when it's quiet. I can't comment on how busy it gets in the summer.

Very nice day to get a small taste of Karlovy Vary

Angela_S, Oct 2024
For the most part, we had a very nice day. Our guide (Sophia, I believe) was terrific, providing insights into the history of the country, region, city, and buildings. I'm sure some would rather skip the Moser museum, but we liked visiting it. The downsides were the lunch (it was not good) and that our driver at end of day was late and was not answering the phone. Minor panic when we wondered if we would have to find another way back to Prague. All was well in the end, and we would recommend the tour to others who want to have a small taste of Karlovy Vary. You'll want to come back for more at your leisure.

Great trip to Karlovy Vary

Karlovy Vary is a really beautiful place and it was nice to visit. Our guide Vera was very nice and told us a lot of interesting things. I had a wonderful time.

Worth it but more options

Catina_G, Jun 2024
The tour was good. Karlovy Vary is beautiful and a great treat. I would the option to skip the glass tour and to lunch on your own. I felt like we missed many great local lunch options.

Fun day

Helen was an excellent tour guide and very knowledgeable. The food at the restaurant was good as well. The driver drove crazy though. On the way home the driver got into road rage with another car! Also be sure you have your passport with you! There is really no time for shopping, maybe 10 minutes and you pass many shops you’d like to look in. We were tempted to stay and take train back.

Amazing

Nice trip to Karlsbad

Steve_S, Sep 2023
Our tour guide did a great job introducing the history and culture of Kalovy Vary. However we did not get to visit the crystal factory as stated in the Rohr am. No explanation either.

Disappointed with Viator

Darius_P, Aug 2023
The town was wonderful but the operator kept delaying us. We did not have lunch till 3:00 pm and she did not even bother to settle us while waiting for a stray family. Same in the return trip. Neither Viator Prague experiences were worth it.

Wonderful experience

Everything was well planned and managed. Guide was having all the knowledge about the places. The town itself was very beautiful and magical. Must go:

Moser Glassworks and Karlovy Vary

Sergey_T, Jan 2023
The people who booked the tour for the same date as us have not arrived, so we ended up having a private tour. It was clear that our tour guide, Jelena, has very rich knowledge about the history of Prague and Czechia. Throughout the ride to Karlovy Vary she kept telling us about medieval history and about life in modern Czechia. The fist stop on the trip is the Moser glass factory - you will learn about the rich history of this facility, see their museum and browse the shop for items you wish to buy. The prices for most items are quite high, but there are still some which are affordable even if your salary is average. Though I wouldn't recommend buying there if you are flying home, as the glass is quite fragile. The second part, which comes after dinner is a tour of Karlovy Vary. We began with a wheeled tour, which wasn't great as we couldn't see (because of the minivan) most of the buildings our guide was telling about. Then came a guided tour through the colonades, this part was interesting and we enjoyed it. You also get a couple of hours on you own to explore the various shops and drink from the hot springs, this is a very nice opportunity to spend some unwanted money you have. All in all, this wasn't the highlight of our trip, but a very nice tour nonetheless.

Karlovy Vary is well worth a visit

Bernie_T, Jul 2022
A beautiful Spa town. Well worth a visit. We had a very good guided tour which finished with a lunch before we were given 3 hours to explore the place ourselves.

Loved KarlovyVary

The story of the Moser glass company was very interesting. The free time in town was really great to have. I would recommend taking the Diana funicular to get some amazing views over the town.

Great Day trip to Karlovy Vart

Ivonne_A, Nov 2021
The guide was super nice and super insightful. Karlovy Vary is a beautiful place and learning some of its history from Helena was amazing. We only think a bit more English descriptions were needed. It was a Russian-English tour and we got a feeling at times that we did not get the same info. Would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Good trip!

It was a lovely trip. Our guide was very helpful and had lots of knowledge to give us. It was a fun trip and not too tiring as well.

A little bit of confusion at the pick up since the instructions did not say to sign in at the booth that had the name of a different company and we were waiting for a bus to show up but other than that the tour was smooth. The tour guide was very interesting. The Moser factory tour was more interesting than most factory tours that these tours take you to and Karlovy Vary was stunning. After a guided tour of Karlovy Vary we had plenty of time to walk around ourselves and explore.

Bueatifull day trip

Nice day to get out in the countryside. The glass blowing factory was great to see. Downtown was an easy walk with plenty of time to shop and have a great lunch. The driver and guide did a great job. Well worth the time and money. We highly recommend.

Really nice city. Lots of time to spend there, and learned quite a few things. Our guide, Sara, was super informative.

It was a disappointing trip, first of all , we went to Karlovy Vary by a small van which was not comfy for a long two hours trip , the van seats make you push your head forward which caused me a neck pain. When we went to have a dinner in a hotel restaurant, the guide ,Sarah assured us that the 3 courses meal was vegetarian and Halal,no pork,no ham,no lard and no alcohol as I requested and asked and wrote in the form when I paid on line. We were 4 Muslim who do not eat pork and not drink alcohol and there were some other vegetarian. When I started to eat the starter which was a mushroom soup,I found small pieces of pork inside it, I took these pieces and showed them to the guide Sarah who confirmed and assured us that every thing was Halal before eating, she spoke to the waitress who was unwilling to help or change anything saying that this was the only starter they had, after many negotiations between Sarah and the manager they finally agreed to bring a salad instead it was cucumber and carrots which usually put to decorate the dish but not a salad dish. It was not tasty. For the main dish I choose trout fish, the fish itself was very small like a sardine while they brought other guests a big trout which was strange ,as a restaurant they must offer all guests the same size and weight of trout fish. For the dessert, the waitress said that the cake contains alcohol and they didn't have anything else, after a long discussion between Sarah, waitress and me they agreed to bring fruit. They brought for every one of us a very small kiwi which has been in the kitchen for ages, it was dry and not fresh. We refused to have them and asked for a hot drink instead. They refused at first and then they agreed. I felt that they treated us as beggars who asked for something which was not our rights as I paid like the others even more as I found that some people paid less than methey paid 54 Euro but they got more and I got less. These negotiations took time and we had just one hour and half for seeing that beautiful town which was not enough. I was really upset and unhappy, I expected that the tour company will respect guest's requests.

Highly recommend this day trip. It was great to see the countryside after a few days in Prague. The tour of the Moser glass factory was interesting but the highlight was the beautiful, colouful buildings in Karlovy Vary itself.
