We spent $398 Euro for the tour from Paris to Versailles on January 19, 2025. We travelled on a coach bus there and back to Paris. We had a very good tour guide and everything was fine. What disappointed me and led to this poor rating is that I learned in speaking with a few other people on the exact same tour and in my group of 22 people or so that some of them paid much less money than my wife and I for the tour booked through Viator. Four others on the same tour paid $102 Euro each and another couple paid $173 Euro each. WE APPARENTLY OVERPAID. Very disappointing and upon returning home, I called Viator and spoke to a nice customer service person and he said there is nothing they can do to remedy this large cost discrepancy with the exact same tour to Versailles. (Nothing different. Exact Same Tour.) I asked for a credit towards a future Viator booking and he said they can't and that there was nothing he could do. He did say if you are a first-time Viator user and had been referred that you can get 50% off your first tour. After using Viator many times on past vacation tours, it didn't matter to them to upset/disappoint a great customer with this Price Gouging on the Versailles tour. We did three other Viator tours in Paris this past week and all were great. Lesson Learned- Shop Around. I referred many friends to Viator after great past experiences, but I caution to do this going forward. Bye-Bye Viator!

Dear Mark,
Thank you for having booked with us. On January 19th you were booked on a SMALL GROUP tour to Versailles, which is what you had as service with Florence as guide and other 8 passengers.
It is true that the transportation was shared with other passengers but once at Versailles you were separated, they had the visit with a langer group and this is why they paid a different price.
If you askd to the 8 other people that were in your small group you would have seeing that they paid
the same price you did.
So there was no bad intention of extra charging you but just that we had to share the transportation, the rest of the service was delivered as expected for a Small Group and not a regular 30 people tour.

The guide was good but we were delayed entry by 40 minutes. The tour should have been extended given the time wasted. It felt rushed and we had no time to visit the gardens. Considering the cost, there should have been compensation for the abbreviated tour.

All in all, I would say the tour experience was very good. Our guide, Ruben, was excellent. The tour was well-organized and the group was fairly small (under 15 persons). My only criticism was that the description for the tour mentioned that it would be by minivan to Versailles. Instead we were transported by bus with several other large groups. However, the bus was clean and comfortable and it ended up not being a big deal. Also, the half day tour was a bit short if you wanted a thorough tour of the entire structure and the gardens. However, it was perfect for our group.

The guide was disorganised and her English was very poor to the extent all in our group of 12 could not understand most of what she said. To think we spent nearly $600 on this tour to find it was so bad, it was a shocking waste of money.
We will be pursuing a refund through Viator complaint processes and, if necessary applying to Tribunals or the Courts to seek recompense for a grossly poor performance by Viator.

Great tour! Guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Coach bus was comfortable. Just be aware that this is a very crowded with tourists - but our guide kept us together wonderfully.

The tour guide was great. She was wonderful and lovely, but the entire tour was a bit of a mess. The small group was very large and we had to wait out in the hot sun for a very long time with a lot of frustrated people / we did not have the appropriate earpieces for the tour at first and we did not have tickets for a while and we were very uninformed as to what was going on.—we missed a lot of our time that we could’ve been exploring and it was not a great experience.

This was supposed to be a small tour with private transportation. We were put on a bus with another group. Our tour guide was good but we had to rush through the castle & gardens. Not a very good value for the price charged. Disappointed

Not a mini coach to location as advertised, but on a double decker bus with multiple groups.. Small groups once at location. The English speaking guide wasn't very clear, hard to understand. Guided tour was supposed to include gardens, it did not.. Had to do the gardens on our own. Not worth the price paid for the tour.

This was an excellent tour. Our guide was excellent and informative. Pickup and return were on time, and it was a short, comfortable bus trip. It was a great way to see one of the spectacular not to be missed sites in Paris.

Great service. Everything was very easy to navigate and very organized. Only issue, we could not hear the lady on the tour due to the head pieces having so much static. She was able to fix them about half way through by changing her mic. Everything else was perfect!

The tour guide, Julienne, was very good. He gave us a very knowledgeable explanation of the various rooms, art,and history of Versailles. The Departure process, however, should have been more organized with better signs explaining who we needed to see for our check in process as there were several tours in the same area.

This tour was extremely disappointing. The tour guide didn’t have the tickets so we waited outside for 50 minutes. The tour guides translation into English was poor. Most of the tour left the guide and looked around themselves.

This trip was to be the highlight of our Paris excursions. We had chosen the small group tour to accommodate my hearing impairment by being able to stand in proximity to the guide as the audio devices do not have bluetooth technology to pair with Cochlear implants. The group was not capped at 15 but 26 visitors in our group. For us it was an expensive tour given the entrance
fee to Versailles is 18 euros. The small group advertisement was not true for our experience.

It was the worst tour we have ever experienced. We were just there this December 2022 and it was cold of course. We were left by our tour guide in the cold for almost half an hour. We arrived earlier than the other group of tourists but we ended the second of the last group to get inside. Due to the delay, the tour was rushed and was not even allowed to use the restroom before heading back to Paris. It was a half day tour. The whole experience was just rushed that you cannot enjoy or appreciate. We felt that the tour guide did not care of the tourists experience. It was just a job he had to finish. What a shame! Not worth the money.

Nice trip despite some cold and rain. Bus trip out was quick and easy and our guide very knowledgeable about Versailles. I’d recommend this trip to anyone interested in visiting this great French landmark.
