What an awesome experience. Only by being there, can you understand how Monet had all of these beautiful colors and landscapes to paint. Can’t say enough about Frederick our tour guide. What a wealth of information about Monet and Giverney and Paris. We would love to come back and do the very same tour again just to see the colors and listen to Frederick again.

My family had an exceptional time on this tour. We highly recommend going through this agency as the tour is much more intimate than trekking through the gardens with 30 other people.
We also recommend taking the 8am tour as the gardens were fairly busy by the time we left.
This tour timing was also great as it allowed for enough time to grab lunch at one of the three restaurants directly adjacent to the gardens.
Book through this agency and you won’t be disappointed.
The location itself was beautiful and Giverny is gorgeous and an absolute must visit. However I paid extra for this tour compared to other similar pickup tours because of the small group, "comfortable van", and pickup at location.
The group was small but the van was filled with 8 people, we were the last pickup spot and we were stuck in the back row of 3 with very little AC. I am 6'2 and was seated in the back row with absolute no leg room stuck in 2 hour traffic. My back was hurting on the way there and the way back.
The pickup was also not a pickup, we had to walk 30 minutes to a new location and did not find out until closer to the tour date. So $150 for an uncomfortable ride and no pickup or dropoff at our actual hotel.
Giverny is a must visit, but this tour specifically was not the best.

Our Giverny tour is a shared small-group service for a maximum of 8 passengers, and the vehicle used for your tour was operating within its normal authorized capacity.
Importantly, all of these conditions are clearly stated on our reservation page before booking: the maximum number of passengers, the shared minivan format, the pickup conditions and the areas of Paris where hotel pickup is available.
Our hotel pickup service is not advertised as being available from every hotel or every address in Paris. When an accommodation is outside our designated pickup area, guests are assigned an appropriate meeting point.
We provide this information before reservation precisely so that every guest can decide freely whether this type of tour corresponds to their expectations and personal requirements before making a booking.
We fully understand that at 6'2" (approximately 1.88 m), you may personally require more legroom than another passenger, particularly when sitting in the rear row and during an unusually long journey caused by heavy Paris traffic. However, on a shared tour, a particular seat or additional individual legroom cannot be guaranteed.
If travelling in one of our Mercedes minivans does not provide the amount of personal space you require, we would also advise against booking a similar shared minivan tour with another operator, as the seating arrangements and available space in this type of vehicle are generally comparable.
For your particular requirements, travelling by train or booking a private vehicle would probably be a more suitable solution.
We regret that the shared transportation format did not correspond to your personal expectations. However, the type of vehicle, maximum group size and pickup conditions are all communicated before reservation, allowing each traveller to determine whether our service is suitable for them before choosing to book.

Wonderful pick up service. Our guide to Fredrick picked us up at our hotel and drove us with two other couples to Giverny. He took us to Monet’s family grave first and then on to his home and gardens. He had wonderful information and was patient with all our crazy questions. He got us into your area and oriented us to the three acre estate. He gave us great advice as how to do the tour, making the best use of our time. This is a must do! Definitely get there first thing in the morning.
We don’t know Paris so it was really good to be picked up in the city and not have to navigate our way to Giverny. It was also great to be able to wander through the house and garden at our own pace. Drivers were friendly, helpful and informative.
Giverny was beautiful and well worth visiting.
However, our driver and guide was not very pleasant. We drove to Giverny at a breathtaking speed and when I asked him to please slow down on the freeway, he was abrupt and told me that I should have taken the train! He said we would be late, when we were already running late because of Paris traffic!
When we arrived at Giverny, he told the rest of the group that it would take longer returning to Paris because he could not drive fast! At that point, I said that I didn’t want to inconvenience the rest of the group (6), so we would take the train back to Paris. This actually worked much better for us!
Otherwise, we enjoyed the experience.

We are sorry, however, that you felt uncomfortable during the journey. We take any comments concerning driving and passenger safety very seriously, so following your feedback, we reviewed the vehicle’s GPS records.
At the beginning of the tour, as you were not comfortable sitting at the rear of the vehicle, the other passengers kindly changed seats with you, and you were then seated directly behind the driver.
According to the GPS records, the driver remained within the authorized speed limits throughout the journey. On French motorways, the normal maximum speed is generally between 110 and 130 km/h, depending on the road and conditions. This corresponds to approximately 68–81 mph.
The driver also explained to us that you had looked at the vehicle’s speedometer and became concerned when seeing figures such as 110 or 130. We believe there may have been some confusion because French vehicles display speed primarily in kilometres per hour rather than miles per hour.
Following your request, the driver reduced his speed to approximately 90 km/h, which is about 56 mph, and continued at this lower speed, including behind coaches and other slower vehicles.
We nevertheless regret that the conversation with the driver made you feel uncomfortable. Whatever the circumstances, communication with our guests should always remain courteous and professional.
We are glad that you were able to arrange a convenient return to Paris by train and, most importantly, that you otherwise enjoyed your visit to Giverny.

Wonderful history of the area. Great details and stories about artists & events that shaped the way Montmartre today.
Also enjoyed the Eglise saint-Jean de Montmartre church and the street art.
This was overall a really great experience. It really made visiting Giverny and Monet's home really easy and straightforward. I really appreciated some of the background information and history we learned on the way, and then we had most of the time at Givernay to ourselves to roam around and prioritize whatever we wanted. It was a perfect amount of time for us to really see everything and even have time for a nice lunch in town
The gardens and home of Claude Monet are a one ticket experience.
In our situation, Viator and the local Paris staff had different platforms for communication.
So Viator kept telling us that our pick up was a different location than the local organizers, even after we had agreed to a new pick up point. Then the time of the local pick up changed by 50 minutes…AND was then delayed by traffic. When we finally arrived at Monet’s garden/home (around 2pm), we had a quick entry to the garden for our vehicle of 6 persons, but the guide told us to explore the gardens and then the home. We explored the gardens, (rather quickly for a garden lover), only to find out the line to enter the home was an extreme waiting period. He should have told us to go first to the home and then explore the gardens at our leisure. In addition, due to the delay of our pick-up, all at midday, there were no snacks or refreshments to purchase in the grounds, so if we wanted a midday meal or snack, then the last restaurant in Giverny served only until 4pm.
All of this could be better executed and communicated between Viator and the local agency, and the customer (us).
In the end, we paid a high price for a nice chauffeur and guide, enjoyed the gardens and never saw Monet’s home.

We regret the confusion surrounding your pickup arrangements. However, several points in your review require clarification.
Viator sends automated reminders that may still display the pickup address originally selected when booking, even after a different meeting point has been agreed with our local team. This is why we send two to three direct messages confirming the applicable pickup arrangements. Our hotel pickup area and the requirement to use a meeting point for accommodation outside that area are also stated in the tour description. Our direct confirmation provides the final pickup instructions, although we recognise that conflicting automated reminders can cause confusion.
Regarding the timing, the change to your planned pickup time and the subsequent traffic delay were separate matters. Traffic was heavier than usual that Saturday, and the driver reached the meeting point approximately 15 minutes late. However, our vehicle tracking records confirm an arrival in Giverny at 1:50 p.m., with departure at 5:00 p.m. You therefore had three hours and ten minutes on site, exceeding the three hours advertised. The traffic delay did not reduce your scheduled visiting time.
Your admission ticket covered both Monet’s house and gardens. However, quick entry into the grounds does not remove the separate queue to enter the house. Saturdays are particularly busy, and waiting times can vary. The guide’s recommendation to begin with the gardens allows guests to benefit from the garden introduction before continuing independently. Sending everyone straight into the house queue would prevent them from receiving that commentary at the same time. Visiting the house first would not necessarily have eliminated the wait either. We regret that you did not see the house, but this was not because it was excluded from your ticket or because we shortened your visit.
Regarding refreshments, the end of restaurant lunch service is not the same as the closure of all food and drink options in Giverny. There are cafés and establishments in the village, outside Monet’s estate, offering coffee, snacks and desserts. A restaurant finishing its lunch service at 4:00 p.m. does not mean that no refreshments can be purchased elsewhere in the village.
Finally, the price reflects a small-group minivan excursion from Paris with six passengers on your departure together with the driver-guide’s services, the applicable pickup arrangements, admission to both the house and gardens, and the advertised time on site. A meaningful comparison with other excursions must consider the group size, transport arrangements, inclusions and visiting time, rather than price alone.
We take your comments about communication seriously. At the same time, it is important to distinguish the confusion over pickup messages from the service actually delivered: your transport, admission to both attractions and full advertised visiting time were provided.

Excellent from the start of booking the tour to its finish. Our driver Frederic was so helpful and informative.
The whole trip was so enjoyable, relaxed and beautiful. Our guide, Fred, was also very knowledgeable about Giverny and other miscellaneous facts along the way. If you go up to Monet family grave, there is a wonderful chocolate shop along the way selling very nice ice cream. On our warm day, it was a nice relief from the heat. Our trip was delayed 45 minutes but that was due to construction and a protest. Fred apologized many times despite it being unavoidable. We had no other plans so it was fine for us but one couple had dinner plans that were going to rush them on our return.
Absolutely beautiful. Really a must do. Due to the warmer than usual weather, the water lilies were in full bloom. Fred was a great driver with great advice.
Giverny is a beautiful escape from the city. This tour gave us an afternoon to take in the beauty of the French countryside while experiencing life from Monet’s perspective. The visit to his gardens and home is a good hour. After that walk 10-15 minutes on the mostly flat road into the village. On the left side of the road are two garden cafes overlooking the valley. La Dîme is excellent small dishes and good wine overlooking a small garden and B&B. Our driver, Frederic, was friendly and engaging. He shared a short video biography of Monet and added some local color. Fred was great. We highly recommend this half day / 5 hour tour.

After using Viator with success in Italy, this experience was awful. We got conflicting info on pick-up so we contacted them the morning before our tour, only to be told they were waiting until the end of the day to see if another couple booked the tour; they wouldn't take just 2 people. They offered a tour two days later, but we were booked for another event. Since our time in Paris was limited and we wanted to see Monet's garden, our only option was to pay for two more people so they would run the tour. The gardens are beautiful and our tour guide was excellent, but the experience with Viator was not. If we had not checked on the situation the morning before our scheduled tour, we would have missed the gardens. Go see Giverny and Monet's home but book with some other tour group!

We would like to clarify the situation because several points in your review are inaccurate.
As clearly stated in our booking conditions, this tour requires a minimum of two participants to operate. On the day before your tour, there were only two people booked, and we explained the situation honestly when you called us. We did not cancel your tour without offering alternatives. Instead, we proposed another available departure, which you declined because it did not fit your schedule.
You called our office several times asking whether an exception could be made. We explained each time that we could not operate the tour under those conditions. The decision to purchase two additional seats was entirely your own. At no time did we require, pressure or oblige you to do so. It was your personal choice in order to keep your preferred date.
For future reference, we will likely follow a stricter policy. Instead of spending considerable time trying to find solutions and accommodating repeated requests, we may simply decline any modification that does not comply with our operating conditions. This situation demonstrates that making exceptional efforts can unfortunately lead to criticism rather than appreciation.
Finally, Viator is not responsible for this matter. Viator is only the booking platform. We are the local tour operator that organizes and operates the excursion. Your comments regarding the tour itself confirm that the gardens were beautiful and that your guide provided an excellent experience. The only issue concerned your personal decision after being informed of our operating conditions.
We always strive to be transparent with our guests. However, transparency should not be interpreted as poor service. Our reservation policy is clearly communicated before departure, and in this case it was fully respected.
Did not stick to schedule time frame. Asked us the day before if they could pick us up early and then while on the way to Giverny, they told us they wouldn't be able to pick us up until 2 hours after we expected/planned.

Your first reservation was cancelled at the last minute. You then booked a second time with two different dates, which were also changed at the last moment. Despite these repeated cancellations and late booking requests, and although our tours were already almost fully booked, we made every effort to accommodate you and offered you a third departure date as a gesture of goodwill.
Your tour took place on Sunday, July 26, during the Tour de France, one of the busiest traffic days of the year in Paris. Road closures and traffic restrictions change throughout the day, making schedules much more difficult to guarantee. Rather than cancelling your tour, we adapted our operations so that you could still visit Giverny.
It is also important to note that you booked a shared small-group tour, not a private tour. Shared tours require us to coordinate several guests and adapt to traffic, road closures and operational constraints. Throughout your comments and requests, however, you expected the flexibility and personalized scheduling that are only possible with a private service. As outlined in our tour description, the afternoon departure is designed to allow for additional time to fully enjoy the experience. For this reason, our clients would greatly appreciate being able to reserve this time slot, as it best suits their expectations.
Throughout the process, our priority was to ensure that you were able to enjoy your visit to France despite these exceptional circumstances.
We would also like to mention that, after the tour, our driver had to spend more than one hour professionally cleaning our luxury Mercedes minivan because of the condition in which it was left after the journey with your children.
We chose not to charge any cleaning fee, even though this resulted in additional costs and delayed our operations. We always do our best to help our guests, even when reservations are made or modified at the last minute, and we believe we acted with patience, flexibility and professionalism throughout your booking. Under these circumstances, we do not believe that your review accurately reflects the level of service and the considerable efforts made by our team.

Giverny is such a pretty place. Monet was an incredible artist. The drive was awesome. Frédéric was great. He gave us some information before hand and we watched a video about the life and house on the way. Great experience!!

Guide was at meeting spot on time ( early actually). Easy drive about an hour. Visited the house, gardens, lily pond. Guide gave us time to visit the museum ( additional fee). Well paced. A little long for me but overall good day.
Early is best. Video introduction in van was excellent and our driver was very knowledgeable and shared additional information about Monet’s home and gardens.

A great way to see Giverny. Pick up was from an area close to our accommodation. A small group of 7 in a Mercedes van driven to Giverny. We chose the early start at 7:45 arriving at around 9:45 with a wait of 15 minutes prior to be allowed to enter. Entry was skip the line and we were advised to go through Monet’s house prior to the garden which worked out well. We also walked the 15 minutes to view his gravesite. A number of cafes on the way so don’t feel it necessary to go to the cafe restaurant opposite the entry. Pick up was at 12:00 which allowed plenty of time to see everything. A pleasant drive back and plenty of time to spend in Paris after our arrival.
Giverny is amazing. Our guide and driver were exceptional as are all the people we met in France. France is by far my favorite country.
Frederick was very good. I appreciated the intro discussion and videos. The other drive me was an excellent driver and kind enough to drop us with other passengers close to the next destination. I wanted to see the pond but the house was underwhelming. We didn't need the whole 2 hours. I would have appreciated vans with chargers

Regarding Claude Monet’s house, we understand your feeling. If it is compared with today’s standards, it may indeed seem quite simple. However, it is important to look at it in the context of Claude Monet’s time: at that period, the house, its layout, its colors, and its style represented a certain modernity and fully reflected the artistic world of the painter.
As for the time spent in Giverny, this depends very much on each person. Some visitors find the time too short, while others find it too long. It is therefore difficult to satisfy every expectation perfectly. This is why we generally allow about 2 hours on site for morning tours, and about 3 hours for afternoon tours, so that everyone can enjoy the place at their own pace.
Regarding phone charging, each vehicle is equipped with a USB-C port. Guests simply need to ask the driver if they wish to charge their phone. However, we do not provide charging cables, so each guest should use their own cable.

We really enjoyed this experience. The driver was knowledgeable and the informational video they shared on the ride was informative. The only thing we wished for was more time there to see the town.
This tour is a “MUST” when in France. It was a BEAUTIFUL experience and a LOVELY afternoon! The history was interesting, and the garden was amazing.
Convenient and pleasant way to visit Giverny. We had an excellent driver and tour guide in the garden.
Pick up from the hotel was a great option saving the hassle of trying to find a meeting place when newly arrived in Paris. Our driver Fred was very knowledgeable pointing out interesting places on route even showing a video on the way out. It was an extremely hot day, however having pre-booked timed tickets meant little wait.
Our driver was punctual and safety-conscious. Orientation video that we viewed en route was very helpful; no guide was necessary. Hotel pick-up and drop-off was a time-saver!
