This is a complete scam. the wording makes you believe that this is a small group private tour. It is not. Our family was taken to Bruges. Then we were left with a free walking tour group. We could have booked that tour ourselves on GuruWalk or FreeToursByFoot. There was nothing private about the tour since the group had 20 people in it. We felt scammed by the tour company. We paid over $1000 for 3 people and it was wrong of the tour company and viator to mislead us this way. Be warned and avoid this tour if you can. There is no way for us to recover the money, but I am hoping others can avoid this pitfall.
I am sure we could have booked a private taxi to Bruges for far less or taken the train, which is pretty convenient. Do explore those options before selecting this tour

It was a small group tour, which includes door-to-door pick-up and drop-off. On the day of travel, this family of 3 were the only participants, and as a result, travellers received private transportation in our Mercedes minivan (maximum capacity 7 passengers), at no additional cost. This means it was a more personalized service than a typical small group tour.
In Bruges, the program includes a locally organized English-guided walking tour, as stated in the ticket. These tours are not private. Small group walking tours typically range from approximately 7 to 20 participants, depending on the season. In this case, the group consisted of 14 participants, which is within the normal range for small group walking tours. This format is standard for locally operated walking tours and differs from significantly larger group tours.
We would also like to clarify that the walking tour is fully prepaid by our company, and the local guide is properly compensated for their work. The mention of tips reflects a common format of such tours in Bruges and remains entirely optional.
Following the experience, a refund request was submitted and carefully reviewed based on the services provided. As all elements of the tour were delivered in accordance with the ticket, we were unfortunately unable to approve the refund. There was confusion upon arrival in Bruges. This resulted in some lost time for us in the city. We were told our tour would be capped at 7ppl and there were 14ppl. Also, from the beginning, our guide told us the tour was “free” and that they only get paid with our tips. They said that Viator doesn’t pay anything for the tours. Since we paid over $1,000 for a family of 3 this was very disheartening. Of course we planned on tipping our guide, but this approach was not what we expected. We use Viator for all of our tours and have consistently had great experiences. This one was a disappointment.

These travellers came one day before the travel date to the meeting point. First they demand full refund. Then they looked at their ticket and cancelled the refund request. We asked them to provide their address for door-to-door Pick up. We did it by Mercedes minivan with experienced driver. They were the only 3 people in this Small group and our driver sticked them to a local guided walking tour. Our driver paid the local guide before the walking tour. Of Cours like we paid before for the reservation. We offered them as well a half an hour later departure from Bruges if needed. That's it. Thank You so much for your participation. We live on money you pay us anyway.

I wish I could give this zero stars. I can't even give a review because no one ever showed up to take us on this tour. We woke up very early, paid for an Uber to our pick up spot and stood in 40 degree weather for over an hour waiting to be picked up. No one made any attempt to contact us to let us know they weren't coming. We only made contact with them after my husband final got a hold of someone through Whatsapp. No explanation just "That's our fault. We will refund you." While I did eventually receive a refund I am still out the $25 I paid for an Uber. We were extremely disappointed. This was a part of our trip we were very excited for. I would not book this tour if you actually want to go to Belgium.

Brugge is special. If your only way to visit is a day trip from Paris, then do it. It really deserves more time. Our driver , Vadim was terrific. The vans not the most comfortable for this long drive, but ok. Our guide in Brugge, Jerome, was amazing… the type of guide you always hope to get.

Amazing day trip! The drive from Paris to Brugge was relatively short and pleasant. Once in Brugge we were greeted by our tour guide Gerome. The tour was great, we learned lots of history about the city and our tour guide Gerome was great throughout the entire tour. After the tour we had some free time to explore the city on our own and we were given great recommendations from our tour guide. Overall, amazing sights and great time on our tour!

Where to begin? Brugge is absolutely enchanting. Like nothing else we’ve ever seen. Nothing we’ve ever experienced since visiting outside of Paris on this trip. The architecture took our breath away. The rich history. We love Antiques, art and anything “old“. We got a kick out of the fact that some of the 16th century buildings are referred to as “newer“. Of course, you don’t need to hear it from us, but try the chocolates! The cheese croquets! The waffles. The LOCAL beer! Sit and relax and enjoy the views. Take a boat ride on the canal.
The favorite part for us was the company. We were lucky to have only another couple in the minivan with us. Ivan was our driver, so friendly & kind, made sure we knew where to be later when he dropped us off. (I wish HE was driving us on another tour we have scheduled this Friday.) He’s a gem!!
Of course, our tour guide on the ground was wonderful. Jerome!! I have a feeling that everyone in the area knows him. Funny. Down to earth. He knew everything about the history. Political, religious, architectural, pretty much everything we saw… He knew absolutely everything… the statues. The faces on the walls. He made sure that we saw every important historical site. And yes, he knew where to get the best chocolate. So thankful.
We were fortunate to have a small group, but I think because of our tour guide and driver, this tour was a home run like no other so far.

At first the tour seemed a bit pricey but it was well worth it. When they say full day they really mean it! We left our hotel at 7:30 am and returned at 8:30 pm. They did not have enough people sign up to do the tour as originally planned but they offered us 3 different alternatives if we wanted. We chose to go with a private tour and it was wonderful! Driver picked us up right on time. Jerome was our guide in Brugge and he was very knowledgeable about the city's history. Brugge is a wonderful medieval city.

We are sorry that Your trip didn't take place. As we were advised about it we informed the Viator support about the full refund and they refunded You very fast. The reason for this situation was that we were not informed on the common way about this nearby last minute reservation. Technical issues can happen. Please Do in future your reservations in advance, get confirmed beforehand about the meeting point and car/minivan information and it will prevent You from such situations. Regarding your affirmation that it should be the worst tour we disagree because You didn't take part at it. Bruges is a very nice city and we serve many many travellers going there with good feedback, see other reviews.

Everything was great. The driver picked us up at our hotel and we had a pleasant trip back and forth from Bruges. So easy! The tour guide was interesting and very knowledgeable. He led us through Bruges while giving us the background and history of each place. We even stopped at few chocolate shops and got many samples. This was my first experience using Viator. We were excited about having a smaller van take us to Belgium and back to Paris. We arrived at the pick up location 15 minutes early so as not to be late. The minivan driver arrived 45 minutes late. We stood outside in 40° weather that was windy and cloudy for 60 minutes at 7 AM. We tried calling Clewel Travel direct multiple times with the contact information on the voucher. They did not answer the call until after the third attempt over a 30 minute period of time. We weren’t sure if we would be going to Belgium or not that day, which was very disappointing for a first time Viator experience. The reason we were told that the driver was late was due to the other couple being late. We were not confident that that was a true statement, rather an excuse. It was very disheartening and disappointing that for a tour booked with five participants that only speak English that the driver would not speak any English and could not. That made for an uncomfortable 7+ hours in a minivan without an ability to say when it’s getting hot or cold or someone needed to stop for a restroom break. The driver was unfriendly in disposition and did not drive safely. At one point he stopped so abruptly someone in the backseat fell forward and hit the seat in front of them. In another situation, a passenger screamed when there was almost an accident. Because we were departing Paris 60 minutes late, a text was received from Clewel Travel and Viator that we would receive an additional hour of time to spend in Bruges, Belgium. Since the driver could not speak English and did not receive the message, we did not get the extra hour we had been promised. There were four bottles of water left by each of the seats and when we asked for a fifth one for the fifth person, the driver couldn’t understand what we were asking or couldn’t find more water. It was unclear. So one person was just out of luck on the tour, we did notice the driver was drinking one of the bottles of water. The tour guide in Bruges Belgium was very pleasant and nice. He did not though read his audience very well. It was explained to him in the beginning that because we were arriving so late, that none of us had had lunch. It was about 1:00 PM when the tour started. After two hours, it was clear that all of us were very hungry and wanted to break for lunch. His passion for history of Bruges did not enable him to see people squirming and uncomfortable and wanting to eat lunch. So we asked to discontinue the portion of the tour so that we could eat. Maybe some advice for the English speaking guide in the future would be to ask when do customers want to break for lunch, rather than what the schedule dictates-specially given any adjustments to the schedule for lateness on behalf of the tour company. The Bruges guide was friendly & helpful otherwise. Overall, late driver… unpleasant driver… unsafe driver… no-to-low communication… shortened trip… promised extra time but not received… and long, long day. Would never take a trip again via Viator if Clewel Travel is listed as the local provider.

Hello, Our Mercedes minivan arrived on time by the first customers who left their hotel later. It is not our fault and happens sometime. As we got Your call at 07:30 we contacted the driver, got out what was going on, advised You to stay at a cafe nearby where You were waiting for the minivan (not outside like described) and then informed You again about the exact arrival time after the first family was onboard. You took this trip to discover Bruges and due to Your review "The Bruges guide was friendly & helpful". I suppose that it was the main goal of Your trip. You arrived in Bruges at 12:00pm it means 45 minutes later as scheduled. So Your description is partly truth partly not (that You were standing in the cold etc). The basic walking tour You paid for lasted till 14:15. Time to have Lunch.

This is a definitely must do trip. We cannt wait to try this experience again. Our driver Rusty was excellent, the ride was comfortable. Our tour guide Jerome was the best tour guide in Bruges, he was very knowledgeable and dedicated. I would definitely want to request him as our tour guide again.

The overall trip was fun and the ride is very comfortable. we were just hoping that the walking tour was shorter. it took almost 2hrs and we ended having less time for eating and exploring the city.
But will still reco the tour as we travelled hassle free and comfortable ride.

The reviewer describes his positive Experience and recommend it to other travellers and put the note 3 points (bad). The walking tour is scheduled in the description as a 2 hours tour. If we would have made it 1,5 hours long the complain would be : Oh, it was shorter than in the description. In this case I can only cry out : Oh it was exactly according to the description.
