Our experience in Normandy was truly unforgettable thanks to our exceptional guide, Jozef. His depth of knowledge was impressive, but what really set him apart was his storytelling. Each site came alive through detailed, moving, and often entertaining stories that kept us completely engaged.
He struck the perfect balance between historical insight and personal connection, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. You can tell he is passionate about the history of the region, and that passion shines through in every story he tells.
We left with a much deeper understanding of Normandy’s history — and with many memorable moments we’ll be talking about for years. Highly, highly recommend!

We wanted a full-day tour of the Normandy beaches, in a private car, with a French-speaking guide (my wife is a retired French teacher, and my French is serviceable). We got this and much more. Our guide, Emilie, picked us promptly at 6:30am in the heart of Paris (3rd arrondissement) and drove directly to the western edge of Omaha beach (where the German cemetery and Pointe du Hoc are located). We stopped along the autoroute for coffee and to stretch our legs. When we arrived at the first site, she guided us through the German cemetery explaining that the black grave markers were customary in German burial places, not a comment on the soldiers. We went next to the Pointe du Hoc, where she gave us an extensive tour of the look-out bunker and surrounding fortifications. Next, we walked along Omaha beach in the area surrounding the monuments at Vierville-sur-Mer, again with detailed explanations of what we were seeing. We took a quick lunch of sandwiches, eaten on the seawall, then continued our tour. When we got to the American cemetery (Colleville-sur-Mer), she walked us through the graves and monuments, stopping to show us General Theodore Roosevelt, Jr's grave and that of his brother, Quentin, who perished in WWI but whose grave was relocated to this cemetery and placed next to General Roosevelt's. We continued our tour on the Gold beach at Arromanches. Our last site was the preserved battery of German cannons at Longues-sur-Mer. We then headed back to Paris and arrived at our apartment precisely at 8pm, as promised.
We had only one day, so we elected to keep seeing actual D-Day sites instead of visiting museums (there's one in practically every city). You might choose differently. This tour is fully customizable, including doing the research to locate the grave of any person you believe is buried at one of these cemeteries.
Throughout the tour, our guide was extremely attentive to our questions and personal comfort. She spoke clearly and commented at one point that she enjoyed giving the tour in French instead of English, which is the language that most clients request. She stopped regularly at places where we could stretch our legs and use the restrooms. The car (Citroen C4) was spacious and comfortable. All-in-all, a wonderful day touring the memorials of one of the most important days of the 20th century.

Jozef can tell you anything you would want to know about battles on the Normandy beaches in both WWI and WW2. He respected our time and what we were interested in. Jozef presented his responses to our questions with emotion and inflections, to make you feel as though we were hearing it for the first time.

Spent the day with Jozeph who more than exceeded my four person group's expectations. His in-depth knowledge of what transpired on and around the beaches of Normandy truly made the tour special. My 18 and 16 year old sons and 22 year old niece joined us and walked away with a true appreciation of the sacrifices made by so many young men to ensure the freedom that we enjoy every day and often take for granted. The tour was fantastic! Jozef is extremely knowledgeable about history and details and you can "get into the weeds" with him on subjects. He worked very hard to assess where my Great Uncle landed and brought us right to the beach. You go into the trenches built along the shoreline. You look out through the firing ports at the ocean and your mind starts to imagine how things happened.

Our tour with Emilie was great. She explained the history, area and was very professional and courteous. We toured Omaha and Gold beaches as well as the American National Cemetery. Additionally, we stopped for lunch at the town near Gold Beach.
It was a long day, but well worth the commitment.

We had a great day exploring the Normandy coast. Our guide was on time, was extremely knowledgeable, and allowed us to make choices along the way. It was an incredible experience.
My son said at the end of the tour, “my worst day will never be as bad as the day their worst day.” Seeing the area first hand changes every notion I had of D-day. It definitely changed our perception of the day and the weeks following during WW2.

He took us to a local restaurant off the beaten path that had the best duck burgers and omelettes

I cannot express how much our entire family enjoyed this day. Jozef was a fabulous guide and we left feeling like we had experienced the best introduction to the Normandy D-Day beaches. Jozef was extremely knowledgable and made it come alive for our entire family. We brought our 3 boys along - ages 12, 8 & 7. Jozef was able to adjust to their level of stamina for the day, while still giving my husband and me a really full day of history and discovery. I cannot recommend him enough! We are hopeful to return one day to enjoy another of Jozef's trips to Burgundy, or the Champagne area!
