Or guide was very friendly and eager to take us wherever we wanted to go, she also was willing to go additional hours, she really knows Oslo - we highly recommend her.
Susan_S, Aug 2025
Really enjoyed the information and pace of the tour which included highlights and behind the scenes stops to give us a great day

This is a great way to see the highlights of Oslo with a bit of history of the city mixed in. It never felt rushed and we even had a little 15 min break at a lovely coffee shop. Highly recommended for those who want to see the city before they book other options within the city. You do not enter the Opera House, City Hall or any museums but you do get to see where they are and plan your future days in the city accordingly. Overall amazing experience!

This is a very complete tour of the city. Our guide Tania did great, knowledgeable and very kind. Recommended very good places to visit after our tour with her. Don’t think twice.

Our walking tour of Oslo started right off the ship where we were met by our local guide, Tonya-Lisa. She walked us through the scenic Oslo city center area, providing information about the history of Oslo, as well as Norwegian culture.
Tonya-Lisa was very knowledgeable and accommodating, willing to make adjustments to meet our needs.
Please note that this is a fairly physical activity. Most of the time is spent walking, often over cobblestone streets. Persons with mobility issues may wish to consider other options.

I did a private solo tour with Tanya Lisa. I was in Oslo for work and stayed on a Saturday to see the city. She was on time meeting me at a place I could easily find. She asked me what I was interested in seeing and she shared a lot about Norwegian culture. She asked a couple times if her approach was working for me and it was but that was nice of her to ask. She gave me ideas on what to do in the afternoon alone and helped to find a nice place for me to have dinner. I definitely wanted to see the cathedral so we ended there and there was a nice concert going on. She took several pictures of me as we walked as well. I would recommend this tour!

We were a group of 6 traveling to OSLO for business and pleasure in August of 2024. We had this tour on the day after we arrived in Oslo.
The walking tour took us to all of the big sites near downtown Oslo. We saw the outside of the palace, the City Hall, the Opera house, the Nobel Peace Museum, and the National theater. We spent 30 minutes inside of the Public Library, we spent about 1 hour in the Vigiland Statue Park. The tour was pretty good, and then we knew the things we had to see in more detail during the remainder of our time in Oslo. The tour was pretty good, but I had a tough time with the guides accent and the ambient noise of Oslo. It is very nice that most of Oslo traffic has been rerouted to underground tunnels, this keeps the noise down and the city cleaner I would imagine.

Tanya was on time and she did a great job of mixing things up based on the vibe of the group, which an important quality for a guide. She answered all of our questions and covered all important parts of Oslo on our 4 hour tour.
iragerardaolcom, Jul 2024
The salmon tasting, Oslo library, and Vigeland Sculpture Garden were standouts during the overview of the city. We also enjoyed experiencing the tram and underground. Our guide went out of her way to accommodate us.
Diane_R, Jul 2024
Frustrating tour. Only sites we went into were places where our guide could use the bathroom. Her knowledge was excellent but everything was point, talk and move on. Expensive for something we could have read in a guide book!
Response from Host, Jul 2024
You booked a tour, which did not include any museums, only the highlights of Oslo.

We particularly loved viewing the carved reliefs at the City Hall detailing Viking sagas. We probably wouldn't have discovered these on our own. Tanya, our guide, took us through the three main periods of Oslo's evolution history (Viking, Middle Ages, 1800's) showing us great views from the Opera House, the old city hall and the square it stood on, the fort, the present City Hall, Aker Brygge (where she showed us a presentation on salmon farming and helped us find a good restaurant), and the entire section of Oslo Fjord in the city. We had been to Vigeland Sculpture Park and the Royal Palace to see the changing of the guard, so she adapted the tour to show us things we hadn't yet seen. She was extremely knowlegeable of the city's history, stopping every few feet to give us another tidbit about what happened at this site or what details the guidebooks wouldn't. She was very accommodating to our pace and wishes. We could design the tour however we wanted depending on our interests , schedule, and energy. We took it our last day in Oslo. I suggest taking it your first. day to get a good idea of what you might want to go back and see. Tanya had lots of suggestions for museums, shopping, restaurants, and highlights. I highly recommend this tour.

We were all four disappointed in our guide.
She knew the city, but her manner of
dealing with our group of seven guests was at times rude, dismissive, and rushed.
Stacey_b, May 2024
Tania Lisa was very accommodating, we got to see alot! She pointed out many points of interest for further exploration
Charles_S, May 2024
Our tour with Simone was terrific. His knowledge of Gutenberg’s and Sweden’s history was very impressive. Most importantly he did a great job of weaving these histories into our tour. He’s a wonderful story-teller. We really enjoyed getting to meet Simone and our tour.
Joseph_R, May 2024
We booked close to the tour time and our designated guide could not make the reservered time. We could not adjust to later time due to cruise ship departure. Showed up at reserved time to no guide. Working on reimbursement.
Response from Host, May 2024
This review should not be published, because the tour was not going to take place, and it was not a guide's fault. This Client did not provide information which cruise ship they were coming with. We always communicate with our clients before the tour (we make arrangement how and where to meet, which cruiseship etc). We tried to contact this Client a number of times before the tour. But the reviewer did not answer any of our many messages on Viator. It was very frustrating. We also asked Viator booking team to contact the client 2 times. No reply. We did our best, but the Client did not respond. The refund is done. . The client did not communicate with anybody, including the tour management team or booking team of Viator.

This tour gave us a great overview of the city. Understanding the layout helped us plan for the rest of our start.
I highly recommend the tour as a way of learning about and orienting to Oslo.
Kimberley_J, Mar 2024
We did a private 3 hour tour with Tanya Lisa and were very happy. She showed us the highlights of Oslo city center and gave us some perspective into life in Oslo. After the tour she not only told us how to buy transport tickets to Vigeland park but she actually stayed with us to be sure we got the correct ones. Only having 1 day is Oslo this was a great tour option.
Michael_M, Sep 2023
I was in Oslo for business over the week and had no plans for Saturday. I last minute booked a private walking tour with Tanya Lisa and couldn’t have been happier!
A native to Oslo and a wealth of information not only did I learn a lot about the city but broader Norwegian culture. She also made sure to point out places I could check out after our tour had completed knowing I had the rest of the day free.
We chatted casually as we had our walk about as if I were out with an old friend, a really nice time! Even exchanged some chit chat on my work in the vitamin industry and with some fantastic Norwegian dinner recommendations she had.
My only regret was that I was leaving the next day and wish I had more time to explore all of her recommendations.
Until next time for sure.
Ashley_M, Aug 2023
Tonia have a wonderful tour of all of Oslo. She accommodated our group of 5 with 3 kids and tram being broken down. We got to see all of the sights, was open to our preferences, and was friendly and efficient. I would recommend her highly.
Mandira_K, Aug 2023
Vigeland Park was fabulous a must see in Oslo. Opera House and Library is also great!! Good to walk in Oslo
Kendal_K, Aug 2023
Helena was knowledgeable and passionate about all the critical sites. A+ in information and feeling like we saw the sights.
IRENE_P, Aug 2023
The guide was very knowledgeable. The best part was the park and I wish we had more time. Meditation by the fountain was not necessary
s2wbsr5nym, Aug 2023
We enjoyed our 4 hour walking tour with Tanya! We saw the highlights of the city of Oslo and the amazing sculpture park. That was our favorite thing! We stopped along the way to enjoy chocolate, coffee, brown cheese and a beer. The walk was a great pace and we enjoyed taking our time and really enjoying the city. Tanya was an excellent guide — the right amount of information. Not too much amd not too little. It was a private tour for four amd much better than a group tour. We would all do it again!
JEANNE_H, Aug 2023
Our guide showed us the 3 historic parts of the city. We saw a lot in 4 hrs including parks. We enjoyed hearing the history and learning our way around from our hotel. She also gave us restaurant recommendations which was appreciated.
Arun_R, Jul 2023
Tanya-Lisa gave us a comprehensive tour of Oslo over the span of 4 hours. We hit every highlight and also went to some unexpected delights (such as a restaurant that also has detailed descriptions of salmon farming in Norway). Tanya-Lisa is funny, kind, and knowledgeable. We cannot think of a better person to give someone an introduction to Oslo.
Erika_M, Jul 2023
I really liked all the historic knowledge Tanya-Lisa had from the beginning of Oslo to current day life. She understood quickly what interested me and also how to tailor the tour to my interests. She has so much energy and enthusiasm about her city and it shows! I recommend her highly!
Jane_C, Jul 2023
Much more than we expected. Tanya Lisa is a wonderful tour guide. She took us through all of the most beautiful parts of Oslo and left us wanting to come back
Dana_E, Jun 2023
Tanya was a most excellent and informed guide for our walking tour of central Oslo with the addon of Vigeland Park. Eager to tailor her route to our interests, and to share her knowledge of the history of the city, as well as economic factors affecting buildings, residents, etc. Lots of recommendations about restaurant that we passed by. Clearly explained the meaning of the art in the Park and what the artist was trying to express, making the entire tour more memorable. Highly recommend. Far exceeded expectations.
Christopher_S, Jun 2023
TL was a great host, very knowledgeable and professional. She was courteous and accommodating to my questions and requests.
Craig_D, May 2023
Been on quite a few city tours. This is not what I expected and I can do better exploring the city by ourselves.
Response from Host, May 2023
I don't know what you mean. I have done this tour many times before, and I have nothing but great reviews. Your tour was made to the same standards. Your wife was very grateful and very happy about the tour.
