Great museum. The actual ship was there and you got to walk all through it. Also wonderful stories of amazing men. Don’t miss the “cold” walk thru tunnel and the new, fun movie in the basement. Very cool.

Very interesting and immersive experience. We loved it to move around the ship, see the rooms and the objects of the crew and how was their routine in there. The history of the explorers, outside of the boat, was also worth it.

Great museum, well worth a visit and buying on Viator is the same price as in-person so saved a little time.

If you are interested in the Polar regions this museum is the tour for you. The sight of the "Fram" in a building is mind blowing and to think of all the expeditions it did and survived.

Worth the trip !

The exhibits are fantastic! We spent 2 hours reading the wall pieces and maps , learong about diffilerent pieces or routes before even boarding the ship. Then we don't over an hour on board exploring. What a great time !

Time well spent

Gene_F, Mar 2025
Very nice exhibit and very informative displays throughout. I spent about 2 hours just reading and going through the museum’s displays and going aboard the ship itself. Very well laid out. I arrived just as the museum opened which is nice to get through the exhibits and get photos which I prefer. Time well spent if ever in Oslo.

Thank you for visiting!

Highly recommend.

Really interesting. We learned a lot. Such a great perk that the original boat is set inside the museum and that we are able to visit. The gift shop had also a selection of great reading material to purchase.

Excellent

Going on ship into the bottom parts of cockpit was fun and interesting. Engine room was really cool.

Worth a visit

Heather_C, Sep 2024
Excellent museum, well staged and very informative. The ability to walk around the ship was great - really gave you an understanding of what it must have been like on the expeditions.

The history behind all those brave expeditions. A test of strength of character. Fully worth the money paid.

Well worth a visit

Fascinating museum lots of information and enjoyed going on the ships. However very busy . Sometimes could have done with more lighting.

Learning about Norwegian polar explorations.

Ellen_R, Jun 2024
Very well presented. A good learning experience. The Fram is very well preserved and gives an idea of all the preparations and what life must have like onboard. I liked the violent, stormy weather simulation.

Worthwhile visit if all areas are accessible.

mktryjrh9w, Apr 2024
The cinema area was completely closed off on the first day we visited. The second day it wasn’t and we discovered we missed at least 30% of the museum on the first day. It was definitely worth visiting and getting the chance to go into the ships that have traveled to the north and south poles!

Great museum with interactive elements, good stories, and of course, two actual ships. Takes about 2-3 hours to go through the exhibits.

Amazing museum

Ian_K, Feb 2024
Amazing museum and so many original artefacts, really enjoyed moving through the ship understanding what life aboard might have been like, highly recommended, just check bus routes and times as somewhat remote location

An ambition realised.

I started work with a UK building company in 1968 which the owners named Fram after the boat. I always wanted to visit Oslo and see Fram and did so on Sat 7 October 2023 on my 80th birthday ! A wonderful experience.

A must visit if you have time !

DilipKumar_A, Sep 2023
A good place to see the Viking ships, the history of the how the expeditions were carried out in Norway with many other attractions nearby. A must visit if you have time to explore!

Not open

Michael_K, Sep 2023
Closed although ticket clearly said open at 9:30 we had limited time off the ship. Spoiled our schedule

Sharon_N, Aug 2023
Wonderful museum on the history of the polar expeditions, including the Fram boat itself. Was very interestting reading about the various excursions & seeing "life in the arctic!"

Great Exhibit!

Erich_R, Aug 2023
One of the best exhibits I have been to! My wife and I and our kids enjoyed it very much! The ship was incredible and the museum did a very good job helping you relive the experience that all the sailors did.

Highlight of Oslo

Douglas_R, Aug 2023
Great museum that allows everyone to climb all over one of the ships, so it feels interactive. Lots of things for kids to do. It’s not organized in a way to tell a story, so I recommend starting with the movie and then working towards the exhibits.

Really interesting and it was fantastic being able to board the ship and go below deck. Easily spend a couple of hours here.

Excellent all round. Will go again and will recommend highly.

Simon_H, May 2022
Being to go inside the ships. The atmosphere created by the video of the storm and the icebergs while on deck of the Fram, especially when sitting on the rocking bench. Very good and informative displays with some fascinating artefacts. The ice bunker was also fun.

Great museum

Andy_S, Jan 2020
Excellent story line outlining the various expeditions throughout the life of the ship. Onboard you can wander around realistic staged spots

Amazing ship and history

markturcengr, Oct 2019
Seeing and actually exploring the levels of this historic ship made it one of our favorite museums in Oslo. There were many historical displays and timelines lining the walls of the two levels of the museum, but walking on the ship was the highlight.
