We’ll meet at the main entrance of Palacio de Bellas Artes, in the heart of Mexico City’s Historic Center. I’ll be there with a pink umbrella and wearing something pink. The Bellas Artes metro station is right next to the palace, public transport is highly recommended.

Carolina was an excellent guide. Just be aware that there is little shade and a lot of stairs, and not just the pyramids. I found the demo of the natural dyes used on the pottery most interesting.

Pickup was 20 minutes late. Drop off was one hour late and not near designated location. Tour was overbooked, so we had to travel in an extra uber vehicle.

I booked this tour with a bit of hesitation after reading a few negative reviews, specifically that this was not in fact a "small group" tour and that public transportation was used.
I can offer some clarification on those previous reviews and give an update as of December 2025. Overall I would not recommend this tour.
1) "Small group" tour and private transportation: Our group was initially around 20 people, divided into two English and Spanish-speaking groups. We met at the Palacio de Bellas Artes as the Viator instructions indicated. We were then divided largely by those two groups into two vans on the side of the street, about 12 people per van. So, the transportation was fully private. Past years may have used public transportation, but not this one. In terms of the group size, this to me was acceptable as a small group.
The problem came when we arrived to Teotihuacan. Apparently there was a family of seven people there, looking to latch onto an existing tour. They managed to negotiate a separate price with our tour guide, Leo, to join our group. So, our initial English group of about 12 people promptly became 19. That's not really a small group anymore, and the significant increase in group size likely slowed the tour down for the rest of the day. The addition of the seven people seemed quite unfair to us. We booked a tour for a small group and our experiences were affected just so the tour guide could make a bit more money.
2) Duration and management of the tour: The description on Viator indicated that we would return to Mexico City by 1pm. This did not happen, and instead we returned to the city by 2:45pm. This was partly due to traffic, however, this was also in large part due to the poor pacing and management of the tour by the tour guide. We often found ourselves standing and waiting for the rest of the group to join us, and then listening to long-winded descriptions of the site that were difficult to comprehend. Leo had difficulty keeping track of the whole group, and we also had difficulty noticing where Leo had gone. Both he and the female Spanish-speaking guide had pink umbrellas when we began in CDMX, so that we could more easily spot them. However, once we got to Teotihuacan, those umbrellas or any other indicators were nowhere to be found.
3) Quality of the tour: As mentioned earlier, I found it difficult to understand Leo. He stated that it had been a long time since he last gave a tour in English, and that was very evident. He was unable to describe certain concepts effectively in English, and often used words that were not actual English words, such as "relationate." I felt that I barely learned anything on this tour, except for that the pyramids used to have a red coloring.
Overall, this was not a good experience and not worth the money I spent. Probably the only positive was the transportation from CDMX in the morning. Other than that, the tour was not well managed, the quality of the tour was very low, and the duration of the tour was well beyond what was previously indicated. Do not go on this tour if alternatives are available. In fact, even if no alternatives are available, do yourself a favor and look into options to get to Teotihuacan via the public bus. I'd imagine you could still have a great time exploring the site yourself or with your group, without the use of a guide, and reading about the site on your own.

Regarding the situation you mentioned, Leo initially declined the request from the family to join the group; however, due to their insistence and in keeping with protocol and a respectful approach, he chose not to escalate the situation or create hostility on site.
The tours we operate follow our established small-group guidelines. As for the return time, transportation schedules depend on traffic conditions in Mexico City, which can be unpredictable and are beyond our control.

Be prepared to walk a lot. If you’re lucky you get Ulysses as your guide.. we had an amazing day. The day went quickly his knowledge was over and beyond.

Lots of walking so be prepared. A hat and sunscreen are recommended. Our tour guide was the best. He was knowledgeable and very cool. Highly recommended

Definitely bring what they tell to bring. Also include tissues. Luis was very knowledgeable and helpful. We are older and he treated us with care for our need to rest a little. Worth every penny!

Our day out was really fun! We saw so much! Wallking along the pyramids felt so special...taking us back to a time I couldn't imagine living in. Our guide Warrior shared lots of history with us and made it interactive and fun with lots of laughs. The mango and chili frozen bar was such a treat at the end of the pyramids tour.

This is a great trip if you like the outdoors and want to see a bit of the countryside. Our guide, Warrior, was engaging, knowledgeable and came prepared with historical photos to give us more context. The ancient city was a highlight of our trip.

We had an amazing experience visiting the pyramids in Mexico. Our tour guide Luis was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. He was patient and very helpful. He basically took us to school. We had a fantastic time with our guide Fernando! He had so much colorful information about the Mexicable and all of the areas it affects. His English was superb, and he did a great job switching languages. We originally planned to do this trip on our own, but it far far, far better with his knowledge. Our group was with tour guide Alejandro who was absolutely amazing! Very knowledgable, and took time to answer all our questions and give us history of the archeological site. He also recommended so many other things to do in Mexico City which was super helpful, and taking the public transit up to Teotihuacan was so informative as we were able to see cities outside the main Mexico City area. Alejandro really cared about us thinking critically about the ruins so I felt like I got to really engross myself in the history. He also introduced us to a friend of his who gave a demonstration about how colored pigments were obtained in the ancient cities. Alejandro was also so kind as to (with permission of course) take photos of us with his camera and share them, so we got some great photos from our experience. Overall, highly recommend this experience! Wonderful all around.

The tour of Teotihuacan pyramids was a wonderful experience and Carmina, our guide, was superb!!! She is extremely knowledgeable and personable. Highly recommend her!!! Suggestion:: tell future tourists ahead of time to bring any food with them for lunch as it is a long day and limited options to eat.

Carmina was an excellent guide and we learned a lot on our Tour. Expect to take many forms of public transportation which we were not expecting but truly made it an unforgettable experience. We took buses, four wheelers and a train. Plan to be on your feet all day and pack sunscreen, plenty of water and snacks and a hat. Would definitely recommend this tour if you’re in Mexico City!

This tour was exceptional! We have done many tours throughout the world with many guides, and rate Carmina at the top. Her english was excellent. Her descriptions were clear based on a deep understanding of the history of Teotihaucan. She was very personable and was very effective at managing the group. She brought out the significance of everything was saw and gave us real insights into this ancient place!
