Best Tour Experience

We had the greatest tour experience with Daniel as our guide. It felt like we really got to see the heart of Medellín and a glimpse into its past as well as share in its hopes and dreams of the future. I haven't enjoyed a tour as much as this one since I first started taking them. It's definitely an experience you can't get just by visiting alone to Comuna 13 and Medellin's memorial.

Learning of Medellin's brutal history

I did this tour with Cesar from discovering Medellin. It was an eye-opener and insight into how negatively the world's most notorious narco-trafficker impacted those people in his own community. This tour is meant to glamourise Pablo Escobar or favour him. It is intended to focus on the pain he caused and the victims he left behind. The final stop on the tour is the memorial to the 46,612 people who were killed by Escobar's bombs and greed. This parc is a place of reflection and grieving. As Cesar pointed out, people still come to the park to pay tribute to their lost loved ones. A slight distraction from the notorious drug dealer is a stop at Communa 13, which is a favela neighbourhood that transforms in the daytime into a collective space for artists, fashion designers, dancers, and musicians. It provides a glimpse into what it means to be from the barrio and is the only one that welcomes visitors during the day. I highly recommend having Cesar take you on this tour because his connection provides an intimate look into Medellin's violent past.

Juan was amazing!! He delivered what was described and more. We felt like we were given a tour by a personal friend. Comuna 13 was full of shops and art. Escobar and Commune 13

This was an amazing tour. Combining Escobar part with visit of the Commune 13 made perfect sense as the two historical themes go hand in hand and overlap. The itinerary was well planned, the narrative captivating and rich in historical facts. I expected Commune 13 to be a brief bonus to the trip, but it turned out to be the biggest highlight, the place is stunning and merits a second visit. Highly recommended!!
