Amazing Tour, Must See, and Great Tour Guide!

This was a great experience, and the highlight of our trip to Colombia. Guatape is an amazing place. Our tour guide, Felipe, was very good. He is very knowledgeable, witty and super fun. Felipe did a great job explaining everything in detail, including history, context and fun stories. We did not feel rushed at all and were able to explore all areas. We added the 1-hr boat ride - worth it to see the beautiful area from the water. The tour is comprehensive, includes visits to a couple of towns and the Guatape rock. Highly Recommend!

We chose a private tour hoping to have a more personalized experience and learn details about the surrounding area and Guatape itself. Our guide (also our driver) was not very knowledgeable (about Guay or Columbia in general) and spent the entire tour socializing with friends at each destination. We spent quite a bit of time waiting for the guide to move onto the next Landmark while he was flirting with the female staff. The drive was one of the most miserable experiences for all of us. We spent two hours both directions listening to music that ranged from opera, heavy metal, Irish folk etc and, despite numerous requests to turn down the volume, it ultimately would creep itself back up. Our guide was completely insensitive (and clueless) to the passengers. His driving was erratic and dangerous-frequently, overtaking lines of vehicles amongst an upcoming curve in the road. The entire drive home, the driver was texting on his phone. We contemplated having him drop us off on the side of the road and finding an Uber home… Lunch was also a terrible experience. We requested “the best food experience “in the area, cost was not an issue. Stupidly we allowed our guide to choose the lunch. destination. Unfortunately this destination was also clearly personal friends restaurant. Ambiance was less than desired with the location on a busy road with trucks passing by constantly. The food was generally inedible- saturated in oil, fish was overcooked, and some of the dishes appeared reheated. If it wasn’t bad enough that the lunch choice was awful, the guide also expected us to pay for his lunch. Normally, this is some thing that we would offer and more than happy to do but at this point in the day we would’ve thought he would be sensitive to the fact that we were all having a miserable time. As mentioned above, he was completely clueless. Guatape itself is a beautiful landmark and a must do in Columbia. For your safety and your enjoyment however, do not choose this tour!

Hi Steve we really sorry to read that you did not have the best experience that day in ColOmbia. But your tour started early in the morning and was planed to finish around 6pm and we actually finish around 8:30pm cus I gave you extra time in some of the places we visited. And about the lunch, I of course asked you if you wanted to separate my lunch for your check, because I was not expecting you to pay for it. And about the food, I gave you some options of restaurants. It is the first time I have a bad feedback about the food in this place, this is why I recommend them. And when I asked you how was the food you said that it was good… Again, we are sorry and hope to be able to compensate you the experience with a much better day in ColOmbia. We send best wishes for you and you people

Amazing tour, very friendly guide

Felipe our tour guide from PF Tours was amazing throughout the day. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. He went above and beyond making our trip memorable. He even arranged for a room for 1 hour as one of us had to attend a zoom call. Overall, I will highly recommend this tour with Coffee exoerience.

Guatape and Penol Rock

This excursion picked us up at MDE airport at around 10am, and we were off. We traveled to the historical village and learned all about how the dam created guatape lake. We climbed the rock, which gave amazing panoramic views of the unique-to-the-world view. And we had a blast exploring Guatape. At the end of the tour our guide expertly drove us back to drop us at Poblado. If you are looking for a great Guatape experience this is the trip for you!

My friend and I booked a private tour to Guatape. Felipe our guide was excellent. He picked us up.@ our hotel and in two hours we were in Guatape. He was very informative and took us to all the important places around the area. Plazo de los Zocalos, old Penol town center, and of course Penol Rock where we climbed 742 steps to the summit. Amazing views!! Very fun and a must if you travel to Medellin. 👏👏
