Our trip to Tamarind Falls was absolutely fantastic and definitely one of the highlights of our vacation in Mauritius!
Our guide was outstanding. From the very beginning, he created a wonderful atmosphere and showed great patience throughout the entire hike. He even treated us to fresh exotic fruits and delicious local food, which added such an authentic and special touch to the experience.
One of the best parts was that he took photos of us constantly at all the best spots! It allowed us to truly immerse ourselves in the breathtaking nature without worrying about our phones, and we ended up with amazing memories captured on camera.
Summary: We highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Mauritius. Don't miss out on this incredible hike!

Just getting to the meeting point proved to be an adventure as we were instructed to meet at a bus stop, but then a lot of the roads were being updated or newly constructed so Google maps got lost a little. Once we got to the meeting point and we met our tour guide Jeez, we were on our way. Jeez was very easy to talk to, friendly, knowledgeable, and his English was easy to understand. He was also very patient with us during the descents/ascents as we were going a bit slow due to my wife’s bad knees. (Pro tip: wear really good trail running shoes or hiking boots as the trail can get quite steep and sometimes slippery if it just rained) As we walked along, we shared some jokes and laughs and stories with Jeez, which helped take our mind off of all the bugs biting us. (Another pro tip: bring bug spray!) As we descended down towards the last waterfall, we experienced some cool things (fish massage, natural jacuzzi, etc.) and took some cool pics on the edge of the water falls. Jeez later revealed he studied photography which was evident with his picture taking/filming skills. At the lunch spot, we were treated to some samosas, roti, and pineapple, all while watching most of the guides and a few daring tourists jump off the ledge into the pool below. A few people went swimming in the pool, which the water was a bit cold for my taste! As we headed back up, we took a different path which was much steeper but allowed us to gain a lot of altitude in a short time. Once up top, while chatting with Jeez, he treated us to some fresh sugar cane from the fields around us.
All in all, although the hike was tough it was really cool to see the waterfalls and take some memorable photos. Jeez is a great tour guide who my wife and I would highly recommend! Again, being some good trail running or hiking shoes.

Beautiful hike and my guide was very friendly and professional. The last part is a little bit difficult.

Our tour guide, Andy, was absolutely brilliant! He was incredibly knowledgeable and made the entire experience both educational and fun.
Andy taught us survival tips, like how to drink water from a baobab tree in an emergency, while also showing us how to do it without harming the tree. He also introduced us to a native bush that serves dual purposes: you can scrape the underside of its leaves to treat mosquito bites, and the locals use the leaves for cooking since they have a peppery flavour.
One fascinating moment was when Andy showed us a flower, which I believe is called safflower, that native women traditionally crush to extract pigment. They use this pigment to decorate their “third eye” in a vibrant orange-red colour. It was incredible to see these cultural details brought to life.
Along the way, we dipped our feet into a small crater pool on the rocks where tiny fish, known as doctor fish, nibbled at the dead skin on our feet. It was both hilarious and slightly gross—definitely a unique experience!
Next, we embarked on a stunning 2-mile hike to see gorgeous waterfalls. If you’re planning this trip, I highly recommend bringing water shoes to navigate the slippery areas where you can swim. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any, and it was quite tricky. A lightweight shammy towel and a small backpack are also great to bring along for convenience. Don’t forget your camera or phone—the scenery is breathtaking and well worth capturing.
We took breaks to enjoy local snacks, including a delicious cheese samosa and, later, a picnic of fresh pineapple and roti filled with beans or a similar tasty filling. It was simple yet hit the spot perfectly after all the activity.
The climb back up to the starting point is a bit steep—about 10 minutes—so make sure you’re reasonably fit for it. On our way up, we were lucky enough to spot a native macaque monkey lounging in a tree, which was an unforgettable highlight of the day!
Overall, this was an amazing adventure filled with cultural insights, stunning views, and memorable experiences. I can’t recommend this tour enough!
My only regret is I didn’t have any MUR on me to tip him as a way to say thank you! I think he works very hard and everyone should remember to bring a little something to say thank you!

Amazing tour guides, they knew so much about the jungle and everything you see on the way. Atmosphere was amazing, we got the chance to swim under the waterfall and saw the most beautiful sights we will never forget. Bonus points for the photos and videos they take of you, influencer worthy so your followers will be impressed ;) overall amazing experience and we would definitely recommend this tour and these tourguides.

We (a family of 2 adults + 11,15 years old kids) had a fantastic day trip with our guide, Andy. Andy was incredibly nice, has good English and provided ongoing explanations about the trail as well as about plants and greenery on our way. Trip also included light local food, snacks he prepared in advance. At the end, we all went to a local restaurant in the village to eat noodles etc. Overall, a superb day - highly recommended!

Had a fantastic morning 3hour hike to get to see and swim in some beautiful waterfalls…. It was slippery at times and the guide helped us navigate the tricky terrain. Freddy our guide was great also took some fab photos. I’m not at my fittest at 58 but managed ( just about) to complete the hike - the last bit is very steep so be warned. Be prepared to get muddy but that’s part of the fun .

Dom and Freddy, the 2 guides were very nice and professional . My daughter could jump from a special spot of the cascade, always guided and secured by the guide. The snacks were excellent . We spent a very nice time.

This was a great experience. Got to swim a lot, had really beautiful views of the waterfalls, and enjoyed some fruits along the way (pepper and wild guava). Freddy was a great guide. He even helped with keeping my luggage in his car while hiking and sent me off with one of his friends to catch the bus onwards.

We had an amazing time visiting the Tamarind falls with Shek as our guide. He gave us precautionary tips and allowed us to enjoy the breathtaking views/depths. The snacks were a delight after a deep in the cold water, worth doing... I'll do it again

Kurt and "Lefeu in nature" were the best guides!!! We really enjoyed the hike and you guys made it so fun! We are not hikers, beginners to say the least, but both guides ensured we were safe. They were patient with us and provide great insight about the area. They even provided home cooked snacks that consisted of local appetizers and fruits (all which were grown in Kurt's garden ha,ha). If you decide to take this tour, please request Kurt and Lefeu in nature!
