Great day out to see the heart of the island
Great day out seeing the real Mauritius island . Kevin our driver looked after us, and was a great informative guide to his country . The ebony forest visit is highly recommended. Thank you Kevin for your friendly service .

The highlight of the day...
The highlight of the day was the trip up into the Ebony Forest - although do make sure to wear PLENTY of bug spray! We also really enjoyed the other sights in the Chamarel park, including the seven-coloured sands, the Alexandra Falls and the tortoises. This was a long day, but gave a wonderful taste of the southern parts of Mauritius.

Very good
The trip was excellent and the driver was very good too. Well organised. A lot done in one day and managed to see so much of the island.

Magnificent private tour covering the best of local attractions.
Greatly enjoyed Ebony Forest jeep safari with Chris! He was very knowledgeable about the conservation programs; eager to share information. Went out of his way to educate us about local plants, birds, trees, and turtles! Teesha was our driver/guide for the whole eight hour tour. She answered our questions; provided a quiet atmosphere which allowed us to enjoy the scenery. She even took the time to contact Massage Spa and book our appointments for the next day. The only disappointment was “The Package “ Lunch at Saveur Tropical Restaurant; the fish was too tough to chew and the waitress didn’t care.

Ebony Forest Reserve
  • Entrance fees to the forest include access to the Jeep Safari and the Flycatcher Forest raised walkway; children under 5 get in free.

  • Plan at least two hours to enjoy a safari tour and visit the museum, but you could easily spend a whole day exploring the forest’s many attractions and hiking trails.

  • Wear sneakers or hiking shoes if you plan to hike; sandals are fine for the guided walkways. Pack sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and a water bottle—there is a water fountain at the visitor center.

  • The reserve has a restaurant, snack bar, and gift shop; picnics are not allowed to prevent littering.

  • Due to the forest’s mountainside location, access for wheelchairs and strollers is limited.
