Overview

Try to spot the pink pigeon and echo parakeet in the wilds of the Ebony Forest Reserve on this bird watching tour in Mauritius. Great tour with knowledgeable guide.

Fantastic trip with some wonderful views and great birdlife. Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable. We started with a litlle talk about the evolution of Mauritius, explaining how the island was formed and about the endemic species on the island. We saw the work the Forest Reserve are doing to re-establish endangered birds and then walked around the forest. It's not for the 'unfit' as we did about 5 miles - mostly it seemed uphill! Flycatchers were abundant and very curious. Other wildlife included Geckos, bugs and snails. Great views at the final stop. We would do the trip again without question.

Splendid day. A 6 k walk specially designed for bird watchers. Absolutely stunning with board walks going high up in the canopies. Did see 5 out of seven endemic species and one should never expect to see more than 1 or 2 during a 4 our walk. Knowledgable young guide with lots of stuff to share. I also thought the little resting points cool.

Very good. Walked 6 km. The guide explained about plants, butterflies, birds. Don’t TaKe the Jeep but walk both ways. Good, information museum and film.
