Jian was an absolutely fantastic tour guide, but he’s much more than that - he’s a historian, cook, and foodie. I’ve done food tour in over a dozen countries and this tour was by far the best. Also, the food was amazing and there was so much of it. Jian even tailored what we tried based on what we were interested. Don’t hesitate, book your tour asap.

This was a great way to explore Chinatown while tasting the various treats it has to offer. My guide, Nel, was a wonderful host full of knowledge and personality! She was attentive to my needs and was so much fun with the various foods we ate.

We were the only ones on the tour, the guide was a little distracted, we were left alone waiting for her to return with food, food choice was good, was only 2.5hrs duration

Not sure about all the potential tour guides available for this tour, but if you get Jian—expect to have an amazing experience!
Jian was extremely knowledgeable about the food, culture, and history of the Philippines.
We have taken “Foodie” tours around the world and Jian ranks among the best…highly recommend!!!

Chloe was fantastic. She provided the perfect mix of history, sight seeing, and if course... food experience.

Nel was a great guide! Good conversation & delicious food, make sure to come hungry! We were full by the end of the tour. Dumplings were our favorite!

The tour was great and way too much food. Guide was knowledgeable and the pace and diversity of food have a good insight into Chinatown

This tour was a fantastic way to explore the world’s oldest Chinatown. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the city and its history, and she took us to several great spots with delicious food options. Every stop had something unique to try, and I learned a lot along the way.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience Manila’s culture and cuisine in a fun, informative way.

The guide for my Manila food tour of Bidondo, Nell, was so fantastic. She was knowledgeable, kind, passionate, and a great host and guide through the winding streets and vibrant cultural landscape. I've done many food tours and this was the best one I've done.

Lots of food. It was an awesome experience. If you do a morning tour, don’t eat breakfast. Our guide Jenelle was cheerful and bubbly. She loves people and cats.
Nicole_h, Jan 2026
It was fine. The guide was sweet but we really didn’t learn much about Chinatown. Lots of food and the food was ok - nothing remarkable.
Ben_G, Dec 2025
Our guide Nel was entertaining, thoughtful, contentious and acommodating of our various food restrictions. The food selection was excellent and unique. We got to try local foods and “hole-in-the-wall” gems not known to even many locals, let alone tourists. Thank you Nel.

The tour was well paced and full of hidden gems. Nel was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the food we were about to eat. She was also clearly experienced at leading a group all over Chinatown.
Bring your walking shoes, a curious mind and your appetite- you’ll have a great time.

We are actually Filipinos living in the province. We dont come to Manila often. But we sure did enjoy this. Even if the food is already familiar to us, what we had was the better version. And the tour guide made the walking and tasting tour more fun. We also enjoyed her stories. We recommend this even for locals.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Thank you so much for joining us! We’re happy to hear that even as locals, you enjoyed the experience and loved the elevated versions of familiar dishes. We're glad the stories and the walk added to the fun. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again!

Spent a few wonderful hours with Nel and Pat who showed and told me so much about Chinatown and life in the Philippines. As we strolled through the bustling streets we stopped into several restaurants and tried amazing foods that there is no way I could have found on my own. Lumpia, noodles, dumplings … all really really good. The most fun part for me was just swapping stories with Nel and Pat and feeling their energy about what they were showing me.

Nel was an amazing guide, and we loved our tour! She took us to so many places we would not have found on our own, and everything was delicious! She is also just the sweetest person and taught us a lot about life in the Philippines.
Brenda_T, Jun 2025
Nelly was very friendly. Thank you for taking us around. The dumpling spot she took us to is no doubt the best dumplings I've tried, including those in the San Francisco Bay Area. The places we went to were places I wouldn't have stumbled upon on my own.
Joseph_S, May 2025
One of the most interesting and satisfying tours we have taken. History of the oldest Chinatown and the background of each food we tasted was A+.
Emma_J, Mar 2025
Nel was an awesome guide. She was fun knowledgeable and so much history. The food tasting were delicious. We were lucky to have her.

It was fun to learn about China Town food and its history. Whether you're a person who’s lives in or has lived in Manila or visiting, this tour is great.

Jian and Nel were amazing guides. Jian is full of knowledge, fun facts, and amazing suggestions. There is a lot of food to sample, we sampled half the order at each stop and we were still stuffed by the end. All of the food, at each stop, was freshly made and absolutely delicious. If you get the option to try the pigeon, we recommend you give it a try. We ordered one pigeon and shared it amongst 7 people.
Stan_K, Nov 2024
The tour was superbly organized and very well paced. Chloe provided a lively commentary not just about the food, but also about the history and about the residents of Binondo, the world’s oldest China town. Every single item that we sampled was great. And there was A LOT of food to sample. None of the three people in our group was able to finish everything, but Chloe helped us get the leftovers from several different places carefully wrapped to take to the hotel. With the tour ending around 4 pm, I was stuffed to the gills, but those leftovers served as an excellent midnight snack.

We had a fabulous food tour with Rian. He not only takes you to taste a big variety of foods in various China Town restaurants but also gives you lots of history of China Town and Manila. Very knowledgeable and personable gentleman with amazing English.

This tour has a 5 star rating for a reason! I ended up being the only person on my Manila Chinatown food tour, but the guide Chloe made it feel like I was being taken around by a local friend. All of the stops are well thought out and feature hole in the wall spots that I wouldn’t have ever visited if not for this tour. Definitely book this tour and be sure to come hungry!

My guide was Jian, the owner that started the tour. He was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the city and the shops/restaurants we visited. The food was lovely and the tour was well worth it! Highly recommend 👌
