Itinerary

Receive a pickup from your hotel or from the Callao Cruise Terminal. Your start time is flexible based on your preference or your ship’s arrival.

As you head to the Peruvian market with your guide, listen as they explain the agricultural and cultural significance of the country’s one-of-a-kind food scene. In addition to thousands of years of Pre-Columbian history, a range of settlers from Europe and Asia have added their own distinct “stamp” on the country’s cooking.

Arrive at the market and explore the rows of stalls selling everything from meat to fruits and vegetables and more. After collecting the necessary ingredients for your class and meal, you’ll head to the home of a local family for your cooking lesson led by chef Dina. Get a step-by-step explanation of how to prepare one appetizer and one main course from your chef instructor. There will also be time to learn to make a Pisco Sour cocktail, thanks to the skills of bartender-guide Jhony.

Once your preparations are complete, you’ll sit down to a mouth-watering meal of local Peruvian favorites. A run-down of typical cooking recipes for your meal is listed below. Those who are vegetarian will also have a special food option available. At the end of the class, you’ll leave your instructor and hosts behind, returning to your hotel or cruise ship.

David and Zenobia were wonderful guides through the marketplace. We had a chance to view the city from a local's point of view hint: never try to drive in Lima and were able to get a close-up view of how the residents really lived. The fact that my husband and I were the only guests on the tour made it extra special.
