Overview
From La Fortuna, you'll meet at Tifakara Lodge then walk through a frog sanctuary with red-eyed frogs, and look for all the other species of amphibians and more as you make your way through the jungle at night with your guide. This will take a little over an hour. You'll see lots of surprises along the way.

My two friends and I went on this tour to learn about life in the rain forest after dark. Although there are many of these night tours available in La Fortuna, we are delighted we chose this one. First of all, the staff at Ti-Fakara were exceptional! Not only did they warmly welcome us, but they (Esther) helped us by recommending and booking two other tours for us (tours offered by other service providers, not Ti-Fikara), and they even charged my phone for me so I would have enough charge to take photos during the tour. Our tour guide, Kevin, was so knowledgeable about all aspects of the forest (birds, plants, reptiles, amphibians, insects, etc.). He was easy to understand and answered all of our questions in detail. And he even taught us how to take the best iPhone photos in the dark. At the end of the tour, he shared all of his photos with us. I learned so much on this tour and can't recommend it enough.

Really cool to see all of the frog species and even some snakes. Very easy and relaxed. You could try to do this on your own...and you would probably miss 90% of the possible sightings without a guide.

This was a great, low-stress way to experience Costa Rica wildlife at night—especially for families.
The Night Walk is less of a hike and more of a guided walk through a frog sanctuary, which actually works in its favor. It’s easy, accessible, and perfect for kids or anyone who doesn’t want a strenuous trek in the dark.
Kevin, our guide, was a pro—knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about what he does. He made sure everyone could see and understand what we were looking at, which made a big difference.
We saw snakes, frogs, spiders, and turtles, which kept things interesting the entire time.
A few things that really stood out:
• You meet in the lobby, and the setup is relaxed—coffee and hot chocolate while you wait
• Each family gets a spotlight, which makes it interactive and helps you stay engaged
• Kevin took incredible photos and airdropped them to us afterward—a small touch that goes a long way
• At the end, you’re welcomed back with a refreshing coconut drink
• The walk is about an hour, and if needed, you can easily head back early—no pressure
This is one of those experiences that’s simple, well-run, and thoughtfully done.
Great option for families or anyone wanting a guided night wildlife experience without the intensity of a full hike.

Amazing experience! Kevin was extremely knowledgeable and more than happy to answer any questions. He also took incredible pictures that he then shared with the group so we wouldn’t have to worry about them during the tour.

We had such a wonderful experience on the night walk through the tropical garden. The tour guide is very knowledgeable. The pace was perfect, never rushed, and we had plenty of time to observe, ask questions, and truly take it all in.

Kevin was awesome! Extremely skilled at finding frogs + other animals including red eyed tree frogs, glass frogs, blue jeans, and others! He made sure we were safe throughout, and answered any questions we had! Coconut drink at the end was a nice way to finish off! So glad we made this last minute booking! He’s also an extremely talented photographer and shares his pictures!

You will be walking through a parking lot to get to the "jungle". It is definitely a great set up with many exotic species spotted.

We walk into the hotel and were greeted right away. Very kid friendly. We were seated down to wait for the tour to start. The family got a refreshing Costa Rican drink. Everyone loved it! Our tour guide Kevin did a phenomenal job at explaining all the wildlife we saw. Made sure everyone in the group saw the wildlife. This was hands down one of the best experiences we had! Very family friendly !!!

We joined the night tour hoping to finally spot frogs, and it absolutely delivered. Throughout our time in Costa Rica we had been lucky enough to see almost all the animals we were hoping for, frogs were the only ones missing until this tour. We saw so many different species in the gardens, including blue jeans frogs, red-eyed tree frogs, and more. It was great fun trying to spot them in the dark, and the guide was very friendly and engaging throughout. The welcome drink before the tour was a lovely touch.

Absolutely stunning frog night walk tour with the most knowledgeable and accommodating tour guide Kevin! Beautiful scenery seeing the famous red-eye tree frog (think Rainforest Cafe!), blue jeans dart frog, the swamp frog, and so many more in various sizes! Kevin was an expert photographer - using his flashlight as a stunning spotlight for the frog subjects. Finished the tour with coffee and beautiful live serenade from their chef and entertainer singing beautiful music. Kevin provided airdropped pictures so we could enjoy the tour to the maximum!

Our guide Kevin, was great. He was very educated on the animals. Was able to find all the frogs, bugs, snakes and even a sloth at a really close distance. He helped take quality pictures and allowed us to take our own. Then air dropped what he took during our walk. If you are expecting a hike maybe this isn't your thing, but if you only want to see the animals in the wild that is mentioned on the site then this is perfect. Also the hotel it's connected to looks really nice and we were greeted with a tasty beverage as we arrived.

We did see frogs during the night walk, but the experience felt quite limited. The guide mainly focused on finding frogs and showing them to us, with very little explanation or background information. It was okay, but not very engaging or educational overall.

Kevin was our guide and he take very seriously that we go home with the best pictures and experience possible. We went to the 19:15 tour, it lasted for about an hour and we were the only two people booked so it was kind of a private tour experience. We had great pictures and got to see 3 different types of snakes and lots of frogs also. Very recommended for family or couples.

We had an excellent tour with Reynaldo. I highly recommend. He took his time. We saw lots of different frogs, snakes, neat spider webs and a pretty butterfly.

We had a wonderful experience doing the frog tour! We saw many different frogs, including a few different species. The frogs were really close and we got some nice photos. Our guide Josue was really great and brought a wonderful energy to the group. The hotel staff was also incredibly nice; they gave us a free drink while we were waiting for the tour to start.

This was a great short excursion to see lots of frogs. We saw glass, hourglass, red-eye, bullfrog, and blue jean frogs, a snake and leaf cutter ants. This tour was super fun and we got lots of great pictures due to our wonderful guide, Kevin. He went above and beyond to ensure we saw all the wildlife possible and provided lots of detail about different species and plants. I highly recommend this tour!

We booked this tour last-minute, and it exceeded our expectations! Our guide Kevin was extremely knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna and taught us a lot about the many frogs, snakes, and critters of the jungle. We really appreciated the complimentary pre-tour coffee and post-tour coquito drink. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area and hoping to see some nocturnal animals.

Better than expected. This is a night time walk through a frog sanctuary which is very cool. Although the experience is short it’s cool to interact with the frogs and see them croak and jump around. I’d recommend this experience if you are interested in a quick adventure or have small kids.

Great experience. Kevin was a fantastic guide. He shared stories and had a lot of knowledge when presented with questions or just sharing information about the species we saw.

It was absolutely amazing and our guide kevin did such a great job! He had a hudge knowledge about the flora and fauna and he took stunning pictures that he sended to us after. We saw so many different kind of frogs and have been rewarded with spotting Amarillos at the end! We loved this tour!

The tour guide was very kind, but I would not recommend this tour. It is on hotel grounds, but not even far enough away to get away from music, lights and other guests. The price is triple what it should have been and you can see everything we saw walking through any part of Costa Rica.

If I could give this tour 10 stars I would! Reynaldo was the best tour guide we could have asked for! He made sure everyone in the group saw every frog and got the perfect photos! The walk was short and the tour was the perfect length (1 hour) so we were engaged the entire time! We saw about 8 red eyed tree frogs, 2 poison dart frogs, and many hourglass frogs! This tour is 100% worth the price if you love wildlife!

The tour included walking through a garden in the back of the hotel lobby and looking at a few frogs who are residents of the garden.
In total, we did see 5 - 6 frogs, 2 sleeping birds and one lizard.
The price we paid was too high for this experience.
If it rains - take an umbrella even though the host may say no.
The tour should really last 30 minutes but they try to drag it on for an hour+ to make it feel worth the money!!
