Wow - all we can say, is thank you Jose! This was the best New Year’s Eve we’ve ever had.
Jose is a fantastic teacher; his trust in us meant I pushed myself to be confident and stand up early, when normally I’d be nervous! He explained everything patiently but let us have a go and learn the feeling.
We had wind, waves, blazing sunshine and an absolutely torrential downpour. We sheltered in little coves with chocolates and a fresh coconut to drink from, and the three of us jumped off a platform into the lake. And of course, we listened to the sounds of the wildlife.
If you are in the area, you should 100% do this. And if you’re not in the area but can get here, you should 100% travel for it. We will absolutely treasure this experience and it is the best thing we did in the area. A perfect way to start our honeymoon. Thank you!

Jose was our favorite guide in all of Costa Rica. He was funny and gentle with instruction, and generous with snacks! It was my husband’s birthday (which we didn’t tell Jose in advance) and he got out a candle, some homemade pastry, and sang. :) He knew every bird we saw. Such a unique experience. We even got to see a bit of the volcano during an otherwise rainy trip. And a rainbow too.

This experience is the definition of Pura Vida! Truly magical to paddle board in this area. Jose is a professional. We faced challenging conditions with stronger winds and currents but still had lots of fun in the end.

This experience is an absolute recommendation and from our point of view a must-do if you are in La Fortuna. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet on the water and Jose was a really great guide. The best tour we have done in Costa Rica so far!

Jose was absolutely amazing! Not only did we have the best experience SUPing around Arenal volcano but he also had so much knowledge on the animals, the area and Costa Rica generally. It was such a fun activity and you get to see the volcano in all its glory.

This adventure was one of our favorites during our 2 weeks stay throughout Costa Rica.
Finding tours that allowed us to include our 2yo toddler was proving complicated and then we came upon Jose’s SUP tour and we couldn’t have asked for a more accommodating, knowledgeable, and fun guide! SUP’ing over Lake Arenal allowed us to take in the most breathtaking views we would’ve otherwise missed. We shared stories, fruit, and coffee and left with not only a great new friend, but the most amazing memories with our daughter that we will cherish for many years.
I highly recommend this for everyone!

Brilliant morning on Lake Arenal with Jose! The paddle boarding was great fun, very easy and not overly physical so definitely achievable and don't be worried about it. Jose is an inspiring and remarkable man that I feel blessed to have met. Definitely would recommend

Une belle promenade personnalisée! Nous avons passé environ deux heures sur le Lac en compagnie de José. Malgré la température pluvieuse, nous avons prit un petit café sur le Lac en écoutant les magnifiques bruits de la nature du Costa!
