I had a great time cooking with Maxie at Rose cooking class in Hanoi. They had great communication, and were very accommodating after I had to move my class as the streets were flooded on the original date. We met at the market and had a short tour where we purchased a few ingredients. Then we went on a bus to the kitchen and prepared all of the ingredients and cooked them. The class was explained well and it was very welcoming. We then were served dessert (you don't get to prepare the dessert) of Vietnamese coffee and fruit. I very much enjoyed this cooking class and would recommend it to people staying in Hanoi. The drinks of beer, soft drinks and bottled water are charged extra (even though the page says free flowing mineral water in the description). Be mindful of this when getting from the fridge in the villa (as it's not mentioned anywhere), 30k for beer and soft drinks, 20k for bottled water.

One of the best experiences I have had when travelling. The chef Tung was very knowledgeable and we learnt a lot as bout cooking Vietnamese food and Vietnamese culture. The food we cooked was so tasty and fresh it was delicious.

Be prepared to learn how to shop in Vietnamese, and get fully involved in preparing the most delicious meal. Aroma arranged our hotel pick up with great communication beforehand and dropped us off near our evening destination after the class. We were an international group of 7 and Aroma kept us all fully involved from the market, to preparation to cooking over the BBQ and woks. The banana leaf salad was delicious, spring rolls too. In fact it was extremely tasty and we had great fun. Well worth adding into your visit as you learn about so much more than just cooking.

A fun way to learn about local dishes

The class started with a trip to the market to buy the ingredients that we would cook, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to visit a local food market. The range of vegetables, fruit, noodles for sale was amazing. Hazel was an excellent instructor; she showed us how to use tools and techniques appropriate for each dish and the end results - which we ate for lunch - were delicious.I have to say that it was not a wholly vegan class as we made chicken pho and spring rolls with pork, however Hazel substituted tofu to meet the vegan requirement.

Wonderful fun and educational tour

Great trip! I particularly loved the market and learning about the different vegetables, fruits, and spices. It was also fun to meet other travelers. Mango was a fantastic tour guide and chef. I almost wish i had done this tour at the beginning of our time in Vietnam and not towards the end as i would have understood the roles of some of the food and beverages better. Would definitely do again.
