Stunningly beautiful islands and rocks of Halong Bay, kayaking, swimming, cave tour and really good food served on ship made the 3 hour journey from Hanoi worth the trouble. Andy the cruise manager had the itinerary organised, was helpful, funny and full of knowledge on local and vietnamese culture and history.

It’s an older ship the set up very nice friendly and helpful staff. If you need something they were on it. The first day we canoe through the cave. Made a stop at Titop island walked to the top of the island love the view. Beautiful beach . Back on the ship had a cooking demonstration then a 4 course dinner I’m still drooling outstanding. Next day breakfast met another ship for day 2 adventure more caves quite area where we were the only ship . We stop and was able to dive off the ship. Met back with the ship happy hour, cooking demonstration the another beautiful dinner. The following morning breakfast the another cave a total of a 500 steps then back to the ship brunch and back to the port. I could do this again . There was Toni, Winters and Nam were always with a smile and how can I help you also are you have a good time.

The overall experience was not a good one. From the start, the boat looked absolutely nothing like the photos and is a complete bait and switch. I also booked this trip that said we would go to the pearl farm and we never went. Moldy AC over the food in the dining area. Rotting wood in the bathroom. Lunch served cold upon boarding the boat. The cruise manager himself was the highlight and a great person, I know it’s not his fault but the companies. Only two rooms half balconies. I wish I could post the pictures here. There is nothing 4 or 5 star about this ship. Thankfully my girlfriend and I were able to laugh it off and try to enjoy it for what it was. But if this is your first time to Vietnam and you want it to be a special experience, please choose another company.

As such, we prioritize your comfort and assure you that any problems with temperature control are highly unlikely. Regarding your accommodation, your reservation was made for our 4-Star Ocean View Cabin. As noted in our TripAdvisor listing, a balcony option incurs an additional fee, which was not communicated during the booking process. We strive to be transparent about such details, and I regret any confusion this may have caused. Finally, about the pearl farm visit, I sincerely apologize for the lack of prior notification. Following the devastation caused by the significant storm last year, access to this location has been restricted, and Ha Long province has halted all cruises to that area. This is beyond our control, and I appreciate your understanding of this unforeseen circumstance. So i hope you can understand for us. Regard

I travelled with a friend, both of us different ethnicities and my lighter skinned friend was referred to over me, and treated better (served first, spoken to first, offered things first, helped with carrying her bags while I carried my own). Its just so unacceptable, and even now months later that behaviour is what stands out when I recall that overnight journey. I’d give this 0 stars if I could.

I have done several trips to Ha Long but this one, i would not call a trip but a short boat ride from the city to the entrance of the Ha Long range. Previously we were taken deeper into the Ha Long Mountain Range but the whole time on this trip you could see the city. The boat was old and really needs a good scrub, polish and vanish. The whole team was superb especially our guide and were faultless. Just the hardware is old and the distance travelled made the whole experience dim and not really exciting. I would not book again, last time. 10 years on still a massive issue with human waste, plastic, face masks covering the Ha Long area, its a real shame and humans need to wake up to the havoc they are making on this planet. Ha long is one of the most Beautiful locations in the world but slowly being eaten away by human waste and plastic.

I travelled with a friend on this trip and received a complimentary upgrade from 4 star to 5 star option. I also paid the additional 50 US$ to get an outside balcony, which was well worth it. Again a long but safe minibus journey to get to Ha Long Bay, with the obligatory comfort stop at an Oyster/pearl Farm. This was really interesting and with a lovely practical and visual element to it. I bought a beautiful and reasonably priced yellow South Sea Pearl as a gift. A bit of a wait for the Hera Classic boat to be ready, but thats much better than rush, then a smooth sign in and on board to our cabin. cabin was great, functional and well appointed. We were on a 2 night/1 day cruise and the balcony was a must in the heat and humiidity. Safety briefing given we set sail and Ha Long Bay did not dissapoint at all. Even better than all the photos and anticipation. Yes, there are a lot of boats, day boats and overnighters, but it never once felt crowded or too much/commercialised. Great food, breakfast, lunch and dinner, was provided on board by attentive staff with the obligatory happy hour, options for karaoke or to just relax on sunbeds. Great trips off the boat to Ti-Toe Island and an optional swim, or climb the 400 steeep (not mispelt) steps to the observation platform for panoramic views. Sung So Caves were beautiful and a respite from the heat. Plus, the optional Kayaking or Bamboo Boat excursion. Overall, a great and busy 2 days and really good value for money. I am more than happy to recommend this professional and safe tour company, guide and experience.

Ha Long Bay is beautiful but our experience in the cruise wasn’t great. Both the boat and the rooms didn’t look like the photos on the site, we saw several rats and roaches on board and I found a live beetle on my salad so no, it was not a good experience. The staff was the only thing I found positive.

Very old vessel!

Firstly, l would compliment the crew, were all extremely friendly and professional. However, this was not a 4 star cruise. The crew tried their very best to work on an extremely tried looking vessel. It was rusty, worn out and certainly not of a 4 star standard. The carpet outside our room had a huge stain. The edges were frayed and was a trip hazard. The curtains in my rooms were not connected correctly and stained. Bathroom: old, mouldy, no toilet roll holder, toilet seat did not sit straight. I tried on three seperate occasions to have a shower as there was no water pressure. I left the cruise without showering! The floor boards in my children’s bathroom were rotted and when stepping on them, moved and there was a pool of water underneath them which came through. Air conditioner in the restaurant dripped water and had to be turned off. Overall, very disappointed with the standard of the vessel which impacted on overall trip.

Cruise full of adventures and fun

The great Jack's crew took care of us. The food and service was delicious! The only thing we missed was free drinking water. The program was hectic so we had to be on time. Activities as kayaking, exploring caves and climbing Ti Top were amazing! We enjoyed it very much. We had karaoke party after dinner, we sang, we danced, great, great, great. Cabin was comfortable, only the water pressure in the shower wasn't the best.

Got upgraded to the 5-star Amanda Luxury Cruise instead. This trip is a must for anyone visiting Vietnam and fully recommend doing 2D1N (1D just wouldn’t be enough). The place is spectacular! The cruise is Great and I will fully recommend it (although it doesn’t feel like 5 stars, maybe 4). All the crew was very polite, helpful and made our experience great. Room was very specious, hot water and the balcony which is great to enjoy the views. There’s a small swimming pool at the top; food was overall good with variety: buffet lunch, 5 course dinner, breakfast and brunch. only con is that there’s no visit to any beaches; kayak is included and you can swing from a floating platform. Bamboo boat ride to the cave early in the morning is great. Overall fully recommended.

The staff were amazing and high energy. The weather in February was very cold. The boat did not have heating in the rooms that made for a very chilly experience. One day in Halong bay should be enough to see everything. I don’t think the overnight trip would add any benefit.

I would NOT recommend this! DO NOT BOOK!!! Firstly, there are a lot cheaper options you can book in Hanoi that are just as nice. I rebooked through another company for $120. Save yourself the money! Secondly, my booking was confirmed but the day prior I had to reach out to the tour operator and Viator. Viator confirmed they would pick me up the next morning between 8-8:30am but to get there at 7:45am to be safe. I waited outside until 9am and nobody came for me. I intentionally booked this specific day for the weather and because I was traveling throughout Vietnam and had limited days to play with in the North. I’m very disappointed with Viator and this tour. I was fully refunded, but my hostel was fully booked for that evening so I had to move locations. I ended up rebooking this tour with another company the following day and could not recommend that experience enough! Sadly, since it was less than 48 hours in advance I was unable to cancel my original hostel reservation the following night. So I was out money due to this tour.

Best way to treat a first timer

First off, the original date was cancelled to weather. I was able to reschedule the following on a different boat and I was told I would be upgraded, and I did. I was treated like a ViP on the Hera Cruise. It was small but the experience I find fit my style. The suite that I got was very comfortable and clean. Everything was perfect. The dinner experience was top notch. 5 course meal with the highlight was the bun cha that was excellent. I skipped the hiking due to a bad back I’m trying to not aggravate. The whole experience was nothing short of amazing. I’m coming back and I’m booking with them again.

The tour guide, Mr. Alex, was amazing. He took very good care of us, always gentle and friendly and made sure we had an awesome time. In the boat, drinks are not included which we knew in advance and prices are in USD, 3x to 4x higher than what you normally pay outside. The staff was overly pushy offering you drinks all the time during meals and while relaxing onboard. This was a bit uncomfortable as you get constantly approached by a different waiter if you don’t have a drink in your hands. The boat is a little sketchy, made of wood and showing signs of age. Power went down at 4am and it took 1h to fix it with boat lights flashing during the episode. Windows in our cabin didn’t open so power for air conditioning was crucial. I found very difficult to learn in advance what boat we’d be on and it is a common practice to change boats last minute as other guests confirmed this. Two big cockroaches were killed on board, both in the restaurant area which is not pleasant.
