A must do for gin lovers!

    Madelyn_C, Oct 2025
Tasting was fun and informative. The owner needed to switch the time of our tour to accommodate a larger group, but he gave us several days advanced notice to decide if we could make the switch to avoid a cancellation fee which we appreciated. This tour is an easy 25 minute walk from the cruise port, fyi.

    Response from Host, Oct 2025

So pleased you were able to switch times, and whilst we were very busy that day hope you enjoyed yourselves and left with fond memories.

    A fun Tasting

    Susan_S, Oct 2025
Great experience with lots of opportunity to ask questions & taste several varieties of gin! Time was spent explaining the evolution of the gin/ alcohol development.

    Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thanks Susan we really enjoy spreading the word about the history of Gin, and getting everyone to develop their own taste preferences.

Not allowed to ask a question!

    Darlene_N, Oct 2025
The Operator kindly changed my booking date by two days to accommodate my not feeling well. Hence I upped review to 3 stars. I arrived early, bought a small bottle 2 pack for next week use when continuing my travels. While the in house Gin was lovely, the presenter was rude to me! After being seated, I saw the Gin timeline banner & saw a Smirnoff Vodka in the Gin banner. Surprised I simply asked why was the Vodka in the gin timeline. The presenter had not started her spiel yet! SHE INSULTED ME BY SAYING TO THE FOUR OTHER GUESTS THAT “THERE IS ONE IN EVERY CROWD ETC” & WENT ON & DEMEANING & INSULTING ME! I tried not to cry & kept my mouth shut until the very end. The Wonderful Gin brought some comfort to me. A day later I am still upset She then started after conversing to her friend Jackie, who was the fifth person to join our tasting, with her hurtful remarks about me. Needless to say I & no other paying customer said another word until the presenter lady was finished….but Jackie, the friend, asked many questions & got clarifications - Thank God she could speak but no one else could! 1. What does “One in every crowd” mean in reference to me asking a question - I am a polite senior female. 2. Thank you, Jackie (the presenter’s friend) for asking questions 3. Thank you to Operator/Owner for changing my reservation by two days 4. Finally. Why is the Smirnoff Vodka in the 1960 Gin timeline? NOT ANSWERED PROPERLY AS THE PRESENTER SAID SHE WOULD ADDRESS LATER WHILE ADMONISHING ME!

    Response from Host, Oct 2025

We are so sorry you did not get your questions answered as we love filling in any gaps we can. We are also very sad you felt so isolated, in what is usually such a wonderful way to make new friendships. Lesley will be so upset when she sees your review, as she prides herself on making everyone welcome. The Smirnoff bottle was there to explain how the popularity of Gin faded in the 1960/70/80 when Diageo did a world wide advertising campaign and even got James Bond to invent the Vodka Martini. Cleverly they then launched Bombay Sapphire after many Gin companies closed as cool people had switched to Vodka and tonic in the 80’s. Please fell free to ask any other questions about Gin and Gibraltar. We are pleased you at least liked the Gin.

    Beth_L, Dec 2024
We had fun learning the fascinating history of gin, tasting along the way. Peter dived into the most interesting and amusing facts about the origin of the spirit and how its production has changed over centuries. The afternoon was equally entertaining and informative.

    Response from Host, Jan 2025

HI Beth, It was a pleasure to share some interesting tastes and random facts with you, and we are very pleased you were amused to boot!

    Enjoyable

    Matt_P, Aug 2024

    Smashed It

    Carmine_S, Jun 2024
Learning about the whole process of gin making And the tasting the different types gin of course It would have been more enjoyable however if there were samples of tonics to try with the gin after tasting it neat I think this would be a more persuasive way of converting people to become gin drinkers

    Distillery Tour

    Ian_C, Apr 2024
It was a great visit. I actually screwed up by attendng a week earlier than my ticket. Somehow I seem to have screwed up my booking. Had a one to one event and bought some nice stuff. Will probably do a repeat next time I'm on Gibraltar.

    Don't miss it

    Vladimira_P, Apr 2024
Leslie is an expert on gin history and makes an extraordinary Jc... but go easy on gin tasting, some of them are prety strong 🤣

    Gin Tasting Experience in Gibraltar

    Hardev_D, Jul 2023
A pleasant Gin tasting experience and lots of knowledge and history by Leslie. A lovely variety of gins to taste and a nice cocktail was made for us at the end. It would have been nice to have made the cocktail at the end with our favourite gin, but a nice experience overall

    Response from Host, Jul 2023

Many thanks for the kind words, the cocktail was the one most folk fancy and was the Royal Navy favourite, a Joan Collins, made with Navy Strength Gin, but other options made with any of our 7 Gins are always available, just let us know what you fancy at the end of the Tour.

    Worth a visit

    KEVIN_M, Jun 2023
Excellent host. Very knowledgeable about the history of gin. Linked gin tasting to the development of gin over the years. Good relaxed atmosphere and good value.

    Response from Host, Jun 2023

    Brilliant and interesting

    Laura_S, Feb 2023
Fantastic gin tasting, best I have ever done. The hour was rammed full of the history of gin coupled with examples of gin to demonstrate the historical facts. It really was very good and a brilliant start to an evening out.

    Response from Host, Feb 2023

We are pleased you enjoyed yourselves, and then went on the have a fun evening out with the "new friends" from the Tour.

    Worth a visit

    caroline_d, Dec 2022
Fantastic and fascinating. Had never thought about how gin came about so the history behind it was a lovely addition. Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Also excellent gin I bought some at the airport for myself and gifts.

    Response from Host, Jan 2023

Thanks for taking the "Spirit of the Rock" with you when you flew home. Pleased you enjoyed the Tour too.

    Well worth the £20.00 cost

    Christine_W, Oct 2022
Very informative, small group which was just right , great guy we had a laugh as well , great start to our evening ………..

    Response from Host, Oct 2022

Hi Christine, Glad you enjoyed the Experience, and as you say the perfect start to a memorable evening.

    Excellent gin

    Billy_P, May 2022
Great way to spend an hour or so...learning about the evolution of, and tasting, some excellent gin. Their signature offering, Campion, is really something special. Wish I had bought more. My only complaint is his historical "accuracy", particularly as regards US Prohibition. He stated it was primarily an anti-immigrant movement which grew out of the South. Prohibition was lead by Progressives and the Women's Christian Temperance Union...an organization formed in Ohio. The first state to pass Prohibition was Maine, and the Volsted Act (the actual enforcement laws) was authored by a Senator from Wisconsin.

    Response from Host, May 2022

Hi, Thanks for the info about prohibition, we looked it up on the internet, but we all know how accurate that is! We will amend the Tour accordingly, so many thanks again, for the feedback. So happy you loved our Campion Gin, hope you had a great stay in Gibraltar.

    The Real Genuine Local Gin

    Tim_R, Jan 2022
Don’t be fooled by Spanking Roger, Campion is the true Gibraltar Gin and it’s amazing! A really in depth gin tour with visuals and plenty of tastings of gin through the ages with hints and tips on how to get the beat out of your gin drinking experience. Peter was so very friendly and welcoming and as the tours are small and intimate it was like having a gin evening at home with friends. Throughly recommend you try this for all gin buffs, even if you’ve done a tour before this is well worth the money and made a really fun afternoon.

    Response from Host, Jan 2022

Great to meet you on our last Tour of 2021. Wishing you all the best for the coming year, and thank you for your kind words.
