It’s a busy day, hopping on & off the coach, made more annoying for us by the inclement weather. Our guide Renato made the tour all the more enjoyable owing to his extensive knowledge of the flora on the island. The day was very varied, despite having to change our route & employ plan b. Tour was let down by unsuitable vehicle

The tour itself was very good. Our guide Renato was very informative and friendly and did an excellent job. We gave 3 stars because the transit van was unsuitable for touring as the windows were too small and low so we could not see much of the scenery above 2m…we would only use your company again if we were reassured that we would be allocated one of your vehicles with panoramic windows like the other tour buses you use.

Good Tour, But Misleading Pickup Confirmation

Overall, the tour was good! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and kind — he even waited patiently to pick us up after we were late, which we really appreciated. What I didn’t like, however, was how the pickup arrangement was handled. I’d entered our hotel location when booking, and it was confirmed without any issue. But a few days later, I received an email saying our hotel was outside the pickup area. When I asked how much it would cost for pickup, I was told €20 per person — which felt unreasonable considering the cost of the tour itself. If a location is outside the pickup zone, it would be much better to flag that upfront during booking rather than confirm and later decline it. That part felt a bit misleading. Aside from that, everything else was fine and enjoyable.

In fact, when you entered your accommodation details, the system immediately indicated that pick-up and drop-off at that location (Machico) were not included. Even so, we made sure to contact you both via Viator and private message (WhatsApp), well in advance, to ensure this was clearly communicated. Considering your location (Machico), we also suggested exploring similar activities offered by local partners in your area to help you avoid additional transport costs, because for us, transparency, honesty and quality service are always the priority. We took Alex’s recommendation and tried the poncha ….My sister and I really enjoyed our time . Fransisco did an amazing job driving and kept us safe . The mini bus was...

The mini bus was extremely small. There wasn't very much room between the seats, it was very difficult to get on and off the bus with so little room. Also we didn't have much of a view through the window. The driver/tour guide was a nice man but he never stopped talking. He was trying a bit too hard to be funny. There were five of us in our group and we thought the day would never end

A good introduction to the beautiful island, waterfalls and mountains. Unfortunately the tour was spoilt by tour guide Gloria and her reprimands about time keeping, it seems confused due to misinformation from the office about pick-up times! This added a degree of stress to the day and reminded one of being on a school trip with a stern schoolmistress.

Terrible mistake on Viator’s part.

We were on a “Feeling Madeira” tour this morning. Ref.# 1230696397. At our first stop about 20 minutes from the pickup point, six of us from the ship found out the tour wasn’t scheduled to end until 5:00, too late for our ship’s departure at 4:30. All three of the tours (six people) were booked thru Viator with Viator knowing when our ship was scheduled to depart. The tour operator said we had to leave the tour or get back too late for us to get on the ship. No other option. So basically we got kicked off the bus. All three couples had to take a taxi back to the ship. And all of us couldn’t understand how Viator made the same mistake on three different bookings from three different states. We didn’t get to see Madeira and basically wasted the day. We expect a full refund back to our credit card.

Unfortunately, we were unable to accommodate your request to end the tour approximately 1.5 hours earlier, as this was a shared tour with other participants who had booked an 8-hour experience. To ensure fairness, we could not compromise their experience due to a mistake in checking the schedules before booking. Once again, we deeply regret the situation and any inconvenience caused.
