Disembark and take a short hike uphill through the cascades, then jump in for a swim and slide down the natural waterslides etched from the rock. Participants of all ages can explore the first cascade, but you must be eight years or older to climb to the upper cascades.
Head back to the Amber Cove port, stopping at the Country House Bar on the way for a home-cooked lunch before being transferred to the ziplines. With a helmet, a harness, and a bottle of water, clip in and zoom down the three ACCT-certified ziplines. Walk between the lines at your own pace, with instructors by your side, stopping to try local fruits fresh off the tree.
After your zipline adventure, stop by the tropical garden for a photo op before returning to Amber Cove for drop-off.

Lovely tour guides. Our trip was cancelled due to rain and we were only able to do the zip lines. Sad we missed the falls, but maybe next time. I’m giving our guides 5 stars because they were terrific, the zip lines were just ok. I’m sure the falls would have been amazing.

We did the waterfall and zip line tour last week and had a great time! We had an 11 year old and teenagers that loved it. Cool to have a personal photographer take pics and video of the whole day- Melanie was great! Would recommend bringing a snack as it was around 2:00 pm before they served us lunch. Highly recommend!

We had a really fun time, cool water, lots of walking but enjoyable. Our driver & guide Wilbur were great
Debbie_O, May 2025
It was beautiful and exhilarating! The difficulty level is high and be warned there are no options you jump or slide down the waterfalls; every participant! Highly recommend signing up for the photographer- he was excellent t and gave a get photos and videos. The only down side is the number of people in a group- you feel like you are being herded like cattle.

We're happy to hear that you've had and enjoyable experience with us.
We'd like to point out that prior booking under "additional info" you can see that we advise that customers should be in "very good physical health conditions" and that a "Moderate/Stronger amount of walking is involved".
The Waterfalls of Damajagua are a top-rated attraction in Puerto Plata and one of the most sold activities by the cruise ships. The day you've visited the National Park a total of 2 cruise ships were docked in Puerto Plata. Unfortunately, this may cause overcrowding at the Waterfalls. Even that we keep our own groups small, the management at the National Park may combine smaller groups into a larger one due to operational reasons.
We do appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you again on your next visit to Puerto Plata!

This was such a fun day for our group of 5! Transportation was easy to find and not crowded, the bus was spacious and cool. Our guide Cynthia was knowledgeable and a fun conversationalist. The driver Luis got us there safely and navigated traffic expertly. Once at the waterfalls staff was helpful in finding the correct helmet and life jacket. There was plenty of time to use the restroom and get a locker, although our immediate group and the rest of the group from our van just stored our belongings there. The hike is quite long and sort of difficult but definitely doable as the terrain is mostly steep steps. Do not bring anything up the mountain that you do not want to get wet this is a loop hike! You can will not return to anyplace until you get back to the very start. They have a few spots to rest on the way up. Our guide Felix was THE ABSOLUTE BEST, knowledgeable, interactive, and very patient with the large group he was leading. Sliding down the waterfalls was exhilarating, the water and surrounding views were absolutely breathtaking. Though if you are not a strong swimmer or do not feel comfortable in water that you cannot always touch in this may not be for you. Water shoes or old tennis shoes are your best option for footwear and clothing you don’t mind getting wet and staying wet in. All of the guides do a great job of keeping everyone safe. The zip lining afterwards was a great addition to our day everyone there did great fitting us with our gear and explaining the safety precautions on their lines. The operators were well trained made for a great afternoon. The photographers made the afternoon so fun, making sure to get great photos of the group and of all of us in action! The lunch afterwards was very good. And we arrived back in port with plenty of time to do some shopping! Thanks for a memorable day with friends!

Thank you so much for the detailed and 5-star review! We are thrilled to hear you had a great adventure with us!

The 1st part of the experience was great, the waterfalls, slides, and rock jumping were amazing! Our guide at the park, and photographer were very helpful, welcoming, and accommodating. Be prepared to HIKE, the trek up is a workout. Make sure you wear good water shoes, with a good sole, because the hike is very rocky and can be slippery.
The zip lining part of the journey and lunch afterwards were very underwhelming and could be skipped. So the waterfalls, slides, and jumping would get 5 STARS, and the zip line and lunch portion would rate as a 2 star. It would be best if you could only do the water fall adventure and skip the zip and lunch.

Dear George Black,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent experience with us.
For guests arriving on cruise ships, time often plays a significant role in the excursion experience. Many cruise-operated tours focus on single activities to accommodate large groups and ensure timely returns to the ship. Our goal, however, is to offer a more personalized experience, allowing guests to enjoy multiple activities in smaller groups while exploring more of what Puerto Plata has to offer.
The Waterfalls & Quick Zip package allows customers to experience the stunning Damajagua Waterfalls, followed by three of our eight zip lines, and conclude with a home-cooked Dominican meal. While most of our guests rate the meal as excellent, we understand that tastes can vary, and we regret that it did not meet your expectations. For those seeking a more extensive zip-lining experience, we offer the Countryside Zip Line Adventure as a separate option.
Additionally, we do provide the waterfalls as a single activity on all our online booking platforms, including Viator. If zip lining or lunch was not of interest, we would have been happy to assist you in selecting the most suitable tour package if you would have contacted us before.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced.

Well worth it and the guides were simply amazing from start to finish. Fun day and great lunch for a reasonable amount of money.

The 50 minutes of hiking to get to the waterfall and back were too much for my 10 year old. It was also quite unpleasant for myself. I didn't know we had signed up for a tour with that much hiking. Then, when our tour guide asked us and others on the trip if we were hungry, we kept saying yes, but he insisted we eat lunch after ziplining, which meant we didn't eat lunch until 2pm. A bit late! If you want a great experience, cater the the people on the tour and don't deny them lunch when they are hungry!
The other part that was not great was having only professional pictures as an option during the waterfalls part of the trip. The cost? An additional $60. Umm, no. I have a waterproof case for my phone with a lanyard that I could have secured under my lifevest but I was told to leave my phone back with the bus.
Response from Host, Jul 2024
Dear Lilly Darnell,
Thanks for sharing your feedback. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience experienced during the tour. Our goal is to provide clear information to our customers before booking and ensure that our guests are prepared and have the best experience possible.
We understand that the hike may have felt longer, especially having a young child with you. However, the hike to reach Waterfall No. 7 takes a maximum of 30 minutes, with at least 2 stops included for resting. From the Waterfall No 1 it’s a 15-minute walk back to the welcome area. Our tour description (look additional information) advises participants to be in “very” good physical health to enjoy this excursion.
Our itinerary is designed to provide a coordinated and organized experience. The Zip Lines are scheduled before lunch to ensure that everyone has enough time to enjoy their meal afterward. We do apologize for any misunderstanding but please be assured that we never intend to deny lunch to anyone and appreciate your understanding that we follow a schedule to maintain a smooth flow for all guests.
Regarding the photos, it’s an optional service. The photographers are experienced and can capture quality photos while you enjoy the activity, allowing you to focus on the adventure without worrying about having great pictures and creating lasting memories to take home with you.
We do understand the desire to take your own pictures. Guests are allowed to bring their phones or cameras, though we do not recommend it due to the risk of loss or damage while swimming, sliding or jumping down the waterfalls. Guests may leave their belongings on the bus or rent a locker.

Carlos and Luis were very accommodating and helpful during our excursion. We had a hard to finding where to go initially. You have to completely leave the compound and go out to the highway to the left to get to the van. The excursion said the van leaves 45 minutes after arrival to port, but we went straight out, and called, and were told the van left already. We ended up getting off the the ship at 9, and didn't leave until 11:20 because we were waiting for others, so that was disappointing. Otherwise the trip was excellent. Highly recommend bringing a waterproof case for your phone or GoPro and your own water shoes. The ones I rented were very uncomfortable. The owner Daniel was also a great guy.

Started slow—lots of hiking & waiting. HOT!! LOTS of people. But… once the waterfall jumping & sliding started, it was awesome!! The zip lines were just ok. We were super hungry by the end & the food was rustic & yummy.

Fun way to experience the Dominican Republic. Tour guides were professional and fun. Scenery was beautiful. Zipline was very short, but they got us back to the ship in time. Lunch was amazing!

First , we went during spring break and it was very busy. We did waterfalls first which THIS company takes you to what appears to be the only company that does the waterfalls experience and there were a TON of people at the Falls - too many. We enjoyed the experience but it was a LOT of waiting. LADIES- bring a pair of spandex shorts for over your suit bottoms- the slides are bumpy and rub your bare skin. I’d honestly have paid more for LESS people - I felt like we waited and waited and waited and then only a couple jumps / falls. The company this excursion was through was nice.
After the Falls we were driven 15 mins down the road JUST out bus, to do the zip lines . It was 2ish and everyone was STARVING but we did the zips first- bring a snack. The Zipline place was GREAT! The people working there were GREAT with my 7 year old , and our entire family.
I realize we went at spring break , and being busy is expected - but imo the water falls place oversold.
Audrey_G, Mar 2024
The waterfall adventure was awesome. Our guide was excellent! Little disappointed in the zip lining portion.
Kristina_T, Jan 2024
Went with adult children (19-24) and had a fun time! Many of the waterfalls were dry because of the time of year, so we only did 7 but they were super fun and though the water was chilly, it wasn't freezing like I was afraid it would be. After pool jumping and sliding, we were taken back to the eco park for a quick zip and lunch. The ziplines were a little tame for us, but we still enjoyed them. The lunch was delicious and it was a buffet so everyone got as much as they wanted. Try the fried yucca - it's so good! Our guides were great and we really enjoyed them all. Be prepared to tip EVERYONE. Major corporations own these businesses and take half right off the top, so the people that work there really depend on their tips. You'll need to tip the driver of the bus, the guides, the photographer (tip over the cost of the photos, which was $20/person, so $100 for our group of 5), and the restaurant where you eat.
If you're brave and have waterproof phone cases, you can skip the photographer and take your own photos. They're accommodating and will take pics of you with your own phone. If you do that, please tip them like you would if you were buying their package.
Overall, we spent $475 for the excursion, $100 for photos, and another $60 on tips. A little spendy for sure, but everyone really enjoyed themselves.

Pick up was about a 15 minute walk from the ship, located outside the main shipping area. This was a bit confusing but we managed. The waterfall jumping and slides were very memorable. The walk/hike to and from the waterfalls takes up most of the trip time. Wear comfortable shoes, something with support, you can get wet and muddy and will not give you blisters. The guides were very helpful and pleasant and made the experience fun and safe for everyone. The quick zip was fun and was 3 zip lines and lasted 15 minutes. The home made meal was amazing and tasty. The only issue was the van left when we went zip lining and it had all of our belongings on it. Everything was there but we did not know it was leaving and we needed our belongings. The zip lines are located on a working farm with lots of animals and some local art for purchase. Overall the guides were friendly, and helpful and we felt safe in an area that was rife with poverty and off the beaten path for tourists. Thank you to our taxi guide Carlos and the rest of his team.
Stacey_M, Dec 2023
This was such an amazing experience. The waterfalls were awesome!! The hike wasn’t too bad at all. But it’s definitely up hill for parts. The waterfall slides were so fun and majestic. I absolutely love the Dominican Republic now and would totally go do this again!! The map they send you is great. But just keep walking out of the gated area and then go left and walk past the parking lot with the big tree in the middle and you will see some guys holding signs. That’s where they were located for pickup. The lunch was SO good. The guides were all so friendly and helpful. They gave us bottled water. Plan to tip the driver and first guide, the two guides on the hike, the photographer and the ladies at lunch and the guys at the zip line. They were all amazing and totally deserve it! The photographer went above and beyond and took some awesome photos. Totally worth purchasing. So bring extra for that!! Totally made the trip.
Jaclyn_E, Dec 2022
We loved this excursion. It was challenging but exhilarating. Jumping from the ledges and sliding down the slides was a once in a lifetime opportunity for our family. Things we wish we’d known sooner: lines, you’ll wait a lot in the canyons and on the trails; the water is cooler than you expect; heights, you’ll jump from two platforms about 20 feet high; footing, in the water be careful where you step because of rocks. Wear solid water sandals. They offer a personal photographer for $45 a group (our family/group was 11 people) and it was well worth it. Not only did he take great pictures of our adventures but he also acted as a personal guide and helped us maneuver around the canyon. Definitely recommend hiring the photographer. Suse our photographer was great.

Worth every penny and we probably would’ve paid more! Daniel and his team were highly professional, kind, and hard-working. The experience itself at the falls/river and zip lining were unforgettable. The ranch was beautiful and peaceful and we wish we could’ve stayed longer. Delicious, hot local food. Thank you Daniel for a great time!

So.... I think this trip could have been awesome but due to way over crowding on the day we went it was just ok. First we waited for nearly an hour for 4 other customers to come to the tour group meeting site who never arrived. So it put us behind schedule right from the get go. Then, we were taken to the waterfall site and just placed with another random tour group. This place was WAY TOO over crowded. We waited in line for well over an hour after the hike to start the sliding. There were so many people that were rushed through and didn't get to truly enjoy it and it took a very long time to get through due to all the waiting in between the slides. We were then taken back to site for lunch (which was great) and zip lining - which was fun. Also, due to the amount of time it took to do the wateralls, due to the over crowding, we were not able to do the short trip to petting zoo which was a major bummer. We would have liked to have time to relax a little at the tour place as well as have time to explore Amber Cove before our ship set sail - which we didn't. Our two drivers, Joseph and Henry, were awesome - super friendly.
Response from Host, Mar 2022
Dear Cristy,
Thank you for leaving your review. When picking up from a cruise port (Amber Cove and/or Taino Bay), our goal (as advised during the booking process) is to start the tour 45 minutes after the ships arrival. Many guests arrive earlier at the meeting point. This day 4 guests did not make it on time. The bus waited a couple of extra minutes, because the 4 missing participants called that they were on their way. After a short moment I (Daniel) called the driver and told him to leave without them and start the tour with you. We did send an additional bus to the port to pick up the missing 4 people.
On that day a total of 3 cruise ships had docked in Puerto Plata (2 at Amber Cove & 1 at Taino Bay). As an independent Tour Operator we keep our own groups small. As you saw, it was just your family heading to the waterfalls in the minivan. Imagine booking directly with the cruise line and going with 50-60 people in one bus. The 27 Waterfalls of Damajagua are a National Park, therefore we must use their guides and go by their rules. Unfortunately, on that day there were many more people than usual and it seemed like they were unable to handle it. It was a great disappointment for us as well, to see that the staff at the waterfalls could not manage properly to divide the groups and send them out on time. I can assure you, that this not used to happen on our tours before (please check previous reviews on TripAdvisor and/or Viator). We are totally aware now that the arrival of 3 or 4 cruise ships a day, with 1000 or 2000 people heading to the waterfalls, might have a bad impact on our tours that include a visit of the waterfalls. We will most definitely forward this review to the administration of the waterfalls, so they can implement their strategies and try to prevent this from happening again. I am truly sorry that you could not completely enjoy this part of the adventure.
Once you arrived at our ranch I personally asked if everybody had an enjoyable time. The response of your group was positive. I wish you would have mentioned something to me or Henry that day, to give us a chance to make it up to you. It is always our goal to provide quality service to our customers.
Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience,
wishing you all the best,
Daniel

Our ages ranged from 12 to 64 and everyone agreed this was the best excursion on our trip. Worth every penny!
Michael G, Dec 2017
we had a wonderful time. Our waterfall guides were amazing. We lost a GoPro camera sliding down one of the waterfalls, in a particularly deep pool, and even though we gave the camera up for lost, our two guides dove again and again for it, finally retrieving it. I only wish we could have done more of the waterfalls.
Robert W, Aug 2017
Worth every penny, great time , was a wonderful trip.
Daniel S, Apr 2017
The service was excellent. Facilities were excellent. The waterfalls were great, but it was a cattle herd of tourists. Our guide got us there early, so we were some of the first to arrive. That helped. Wear shoes with soles. Zipline was good - but it required a decent amount of walking. I highly recommend this event, but don't overpack, and make sure when they say get off the boat immediately and get to the cab - get off the boat early and get to the cab. Print the vouchers.

This trip was AMAZING!!!!! Highly recommend it to everyone! We had our own taxi driver that stayed with us the entire time...waiting as we slid down the 7 waterFalls...what a BLAST!!! Then he took us to the zip line...these were some of the longest lines we have ever done! Then he drove us back to the ship. Great time would do this again..maybe even try for more sliding of the waterfalls, 7 wasn't enough!

We had a personalized tour with a private taxi, private waterfall and zipline tour and lunch just for my husband and I. It was great.
Deborah_k, Jan 2017
A great excursion! I'm sixty years old and tend to be a little risk adverse. I was a little nervous about the safety aspects of the splash and zip parts of this adventure. Well . . . my fear was unnecessary. As for the falls: although it had rained heavily the day before, and the water at the falls was flowing fast, we were accompanied by a very, very experienced, knowledgeable and friendly guide. He stayed right with us without being intrusive the entire walk up the falls, and the entire ourney back down. He recommended to us which falls we should jump from, and which falls to slide down. When early on I lost my water shoe due to the heavy current, he got from one of the fellow guides with a similar foot size as mine a water shoe for me wear the rest of the way. I didn't really need it in the water but I could not have made the rocky walk back without it. A thrilling experience, and although I was fearful at several of the falls, our guide was reassuring and I always felt safe. As for the zip-line: the experience also was very thrilling and 100 safe. We were triple-attached to two cables, and we did not have to independently brake. The guides working the zip-lines made sure we were well equipped helmets and harnesses and were super careful to make sure the cables were properly attached. Also, the guides working the braking systems were excellent. Lunch also was wonderful. I highly recommend this excursion.

This was a phenomenal tour! The waterfalls were incredible, and the tour guides were friendly, knowledgeable and took great pictures! Lunch was fantastic and the little farm was delightful. I would definitely go again!
