This experience is beyond my expectation! When we arrived, Christiana greeted us warmly. Once all the guests settled in, we started with fruits taster, we had a lot of interactions to identify each fruit. Then we moved to the “marketplace” with her explanation of each ingredients . The third session is preparing our appetizers, again this is so much fun. The fourth is our main course, finally we made our pisco sour and cocktail.
This cooking class is more than food, it gave us a deeper understanding of Peruvian food, its culture, agriculture, fusion and geography.
Christina’s enthusiasm and passion highlights this class! This experience enriches my appreciation of Peruvian food and its history.

What an amazing afternoon hosted by Jose who is knowledgeable and good fun !
His market and cooking space is first class - I learnt so much about the history of Peruvian. Food, tasted fruits that only grow here and with great guidance cooked and ate some delicious dishes. Not forgetting a lesson about pisco, how it is made and how best to drink it !! I opted for making a pisco sour which was delicious !

This was by far the biggest highlight of our two weeks in Peru. Jose who ran the course is just fantastic. We had 4.5 hours hours of fun, exploring Peru through its food and drinks. Neither of us are big cooks but we couldn’t fail here. Jose described it more of a culinary experience vs a simple cooking class and he was 100% right.
The session starts with tasting of a whole host of fruits from different parts of Peru to understand the geography. You then explore their little market and learn more about the country and its food. The ceviche we made was delicious and enjoyed over a pisco tasting and cocktail making session. They also throw in a couple of tasty snacks from the restaurant. The grand finale was the lomo saltado - this was an incredible experience cooking with fire!!
Overall, you will not regret booking this. The class is just so interesting and fun and the food is of the highest quality. I’m so glad we signed up for this one over any of the more budget cooking classes.

This cooking experience exceeded our expectations. We learned about the food, cooked the food and had an extraordinary chef in addition to a training chef. The food was immaculate. We had a variety of starters and cooked two main courses. Take the class! You will not be disappointed. Thank you chef for a memorable cooking experience!

We loved every minute of our cooking class at Marcelo Batata! We fell in love with the delicious Peruvian food and were surprised by how incredibly easy it was to make. We began our journey learning about and tasting delicious fresh fruits from the Andes. Followed by a quick visit to its own mini market of fresh herbs and vegetables. Making our own cocktails with Pisco and tasting different varieties of Peru's staple brandy was amazing! We could not believe how delicious our ceviche was, ready to eat in just a few minutes! The lomo saltado was a special treat! Chef Castillo and Chef Marisol were an amazing wealth of knowledge and wonderful to talk to. We are glad we took this class and cannot wait to practice what we learned at home! Thank you, Marcelo Batata for making our trip to Cuzco even more special and memorable!

Nice class. Very friendly teacher. We learned not just about cooking, but also a little bit about the history of Peru and how it affects their cuisine.
Unfortunately, the instructor hasn't send the recipes as promised yet.

Wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Cusco. We made ceviche and lomo saltado as well as several pisco drinks. Very nice introduction to peruvian cuisine. Good demonstration of how to select ingredients. Had a tasting of local fruits and varieties of pisco. Very entertaining and delicious experience. Would recommend highly.

My wife and i were welcomed by Chef Jose, he was very kind and knowledgable.
We tasted various fruits/piscos/flavours from different regions of peru and learnt how to create very delicious food.
It was super enjoyable.

The food, education, and hands-on cooking was amazing! Unfortunately, my travel companion was ill and we had to leave before making the main dish. Jose was very accommodating, ordering tea for her and trying to make her feel better so that we could enjoy the entire experience.
Jose taught us about the history of Peruvian food and told us about the many different types of produce that grow in Peru. He sent us the recipes after the event. We went to the Marcelo Batata resturaunt a few nights later and it was amazing!
